Wuthering Waves Servers Explained: Regions, Cross-Save and UIDs

Wuthering Waves splits its player base into fixed server regions — America, Europe, Asia, SEA and HMT — and the region you pick at your very first login is permanent for that save. Your account itself is a Kuro Games account, so the same login carries one save across PC, mobile and PlayStation 5, but never across regions.

That single sentence hides most of the confusion new players run into. A Kuro Games account is not the same thing as a save file. The account is the key; the region is the door it opens. Choose a different door and you get a different UID, a different Union Level, a different Astrite balance and a completely separate roster of Resonators — even though you signed in with the same email. This guide walks through what a region actually controls, where your UID lives, how cross-save works in practice across the platforms Wuthering Waves supports, and which of these choices you can undo later. Everything here reflects how the game behaves as of 2026; Kuro Games has adjusted account handling before, and the official Wuthering Waves support pages remain the authority when a specific policy changes.

What is a Wuthering Waves server region, and why does it matter?

A region is the physical cluster of servers your save lives on. It decides your UID, your latency, your daily and weekly reset clock, and which other players you can appear alongside in co-op. It does not change the story, the characters available, or the version schedule. This same UID and region also determine where a Lunite top-up purchase gets delivered, so it is worth confirming both before spending.

Kuro Games runs Wuthering Waves as a globally synchronised game with regionally partitioned data. Every region receives the same patch on the same day, the same banner rotation and the same event calendar. What differs is the physical location of the machine holding your progress. That has three practical consequences.

The first is latency. Wuthering Waves is a reaction-heavy action game where parry and dodge windows are measured in a handful of frames. A player in Jakarta connecting to the America cluster is fighting the same boss as everyone else, but with a couple of hundred extra milliseconds of round-trip delay layered on top of their inputs. In open-world exploration that is barely noticeable. In endgame content with tight punish windows it is the difference between a clean parry and a knockdown. If you are still learning those timings, our Wuthering Waves combat guide covering parry, dodge and rotation basics is worth reading alongside this one, because a bad region choice can make perfectly good technique feel broken.

The second is the reset clock. Every region resets daily activities on its own local schedule, which changes when your Waveplate refills matter, when weekly bosses come back, and when limited event shops roll over. Players who pick a region on the other side of the world often find their reset lands in the middle of their working day.

The third is social. Co-op matchmaking, the friends list and UID-based friend requests are all region-scoped. A friend on Asia cannot join your America world, no matter how the two of you are connected outside the game.

Which Wuthering Waves regions can you choose from?

Global Wuthering Waves offers America, Europe, Asia, SEA and HMT — the last covering Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The Chinese mainland release is a separate client and a separate ecosystem entirely, and accounts do not move between the global and mainland versions in either direction.

The selector appears on the login screen before you sign in, and it is easy to skip past because the client pre-selects a region based on where it thinks you are. That default is usually sensible, but it is a guess drawn from your connection, and a VPN, a corporate network or a recently moved SIM can throw it off. Check it before you tap start, not after.

Region naming is geographic shorthand rather than a hard border. Nobody checks your passport. A player in Australia may find SEA gives better ping than Asia; a player in the Gulf states may find Europe more responsive than Asia. The honest test is to look at your own connection rather than the label. Most players are best served by the region whose data centre is physically nearest, and for the majority the client's default guess is that region.

One thing worth stating plainly, because it circulates as a myth: no region gets earlier banners, better gacha rates or exclusive characters. Kuro Games publishes identical banner schedules and identical published rates across the global regions. If a rate or a schedule ever does diverge, it will be announced in the official patch notes, not discovered by a stranger on social media.

What is a Wuthering Waves UID, and where do you find it?

Your UID is the numeric identifier that uniquely names your save inside one region. You find it on your in-game profile card, and it is also printed in a corner of the screen on most interfaces. It is region-specific: the same Kuro Games account holds a different UID on every region it has played.

The UID is what other systems key off. Friend requests use it. Customer support asks for it before they will look at anything. Event redemption pages ask for it plus the matching region, and a redemption sent to the right UID but the wrong region simply fails. Because UIDs are per-region, quoting one without saying which region it belongs to is incomplete information — support tickets stall on exactly this.

Treat your UID as semi-public. It is not a secret in the way a password is; you hand it out to strangers every time you want a co-op partner. But it is a real identifier tied to a real account, and it is the piece of information a social-engineering attempt starts from. Nobody legitimate will ever ask for your UID together with a login code, a password or a verification email. Kuro Games' support channels do not need your password to help you, and any message that asks for both at once should be treated as an attack regardless of how official it looks. For the detail behind that, see Resonator Priority Which Characters to Build First.

Can you change your Wuthering Waves region after you start?

No. A save is bound to the region it was created on, and there is no in-game transfer, no support-assisted migration and no paid move. What you can do is create a fresh save on a different region using the same Kuro Games account — but it starts at Union Level 1 with nothing carried over.

This is the single most expensive mistake available to a new Wuthering Waves player, and it is entirely silent when it happens. The game does not stop you to warn that the choice is permanent. Somebody plays for three weeks, builds a five-star team, then discovers their friends are all on a different cluster, and the only options are to start again or to stay separated.

Kuro Games' position on this has been consistent since the global launch in May 2024: regions are independent data silos, with no supported mechanism to merge or move progress between them. That is not unusual — it is the same architecture most large live-service gacha titles use, for the ordinary reason that a save is a row in a database that lives in one place.

The practical advice is unglamorous. Before your first login, decide where you will still be playing in six months, decide who you want to play with, and check that the region selector matches. It takes ten seconds, and it is the only ten seconds where the decision is free.

If you have already invested in the wrong region and starting over is genuinely unpalatable, the realistic paths are to accept the region and rebuild your friends list inside it, or to look at what an established save on the region you actually want would represent in play time. Wuthering Waves account listings on GameMarket.gg state their region and Union Level up front for exactly this reason, and the region field is the first thing to read on any listing, and our checklist for buying a Wuthering Waves account safely walks through the rest — an otherwise excellent save on the wrong cluster solves nothing.

Does Wuthering Waves have cross-save and cross-platform play?

Yes. One Kuro Games account carries a single save across Windows PC, Android, iOS and PlayStation 5, provided every device signs in to the same account and the same region. Progress, Astrite, Resonators and Echoes are shared instantly; only one device can be logged in at a time.

This is genuinely one of the game's better design decisions, and it is worth understanding precisely because the word "cross-save" gets used loosely. What Wuthering Waves gives you is not a sync or a periodic backup — it is the same save, held server-side, addressed by your account. You are not copying a file between devices. You are opening the same file from a different window.

The consequence is that there is nothing to "transfer" and nothing to back up manually. Finish a Tacet Field run on your phone during a commute, open the PC client (check the Wuthering Waves PC requirements and storage size first) that evening, and the drops are already in your inventory. Spend Waveplate on PS5 and the counter is lower on mobile a second later. Because everything meaningful lives on the server, a lost or wiped phone costs you nothing but the download. Our guide breaks down Convene Guide Pity System, Rates and Banners.

The limit is exclusivity of session. Signing in on a second device kicks the first one out — the game does not support two simultaneous sessions on one save. That is normal and is also a small security feature: an unexpected disconnect while you are sitting at your PC means somebody else just logged in as you.

Cross-platform co-op follows the same rule as everything else here: it works freely across devices, and not at all across regions. A PS5 player and a phone player on Asia can run content together; a PS5 player on Asia and a PS5 player on Europe cannot.

How does the Kuro Games account tie your platforms together?

The Kuro Games account is the anchor. You can create it directly with an email address, or sign in through a supported third-party option, and on PlayStation 5 you link your PSN sign-in to that same Kuro account. Whatever route you take, one Kuro account equals one identity across every platform.

The detail that trips people up is the difference between creating an account through a third-party login and binding one. If your very first login was a one-tap social sign-in, the underlying Kuro account may have no email address of its own attached. That works fine right up until you lose access to the social account, at which point recovery becomes difficult — there is no email to send a reset to. Binding an email and setting a password on your Kuro account, from the account settings, is a five-minute job that turns an unrecoverable situation into a recoverable one.

The PlayStation 5 case has its own wrinkle. When the console version arrived, players who linked an existing Kuro account kept their progress and continued on the same save; players who tapped through and created a fresh PSN-linked account ended up with a second, empty save. Both accounts then existed, and only one had the characters. If your PS5 install looks suspiciously empty, that is almost always what happened, and the fix is to sign out and sign back in with the original Kuro credentials rather than to start rebuilding.

None of this is region-related, which is worth repeating because the two ideas get blended together constantly. Bindings decide who can prove they own the account. Region decides which save that account opens. Changing a binding never moves a save.

How do daily and weekly resets work on each region?

Each region runs its own reset clock in its own server time, typically in the small hours of the local morning. Dailies, Waveplate-driven activities and weekly boss entries all roll over on that schedule, so your effective play window is set by the region you chose, not by your own time zone.

For most players the region default matches their time zone and this is invisible. For anyone who deliberately picked a distant region — to play with friends, usually — it is a real cost worth counting in advance. If your reset lands at 4 p.m. on a workday, the natural rhythm of "log in, clear dailies, log off" gets awkward, and Waveplate overflow becomes easier to hit because your cap fills while you are unable to spend it.

Waveplate is the resource where this bites hardest, since it regenerates continuously and is capped. Understanding what it is worth spending on makes the timing much less punishing, and our guide to Tacet Fields and their Waveplate cost and rewards covers where that budget actually goes. The same logic applies to Echo cost, main stats and tuning, since Echo farming is the long-run sink that reset timing shapes most.

What should you check before you pick a region?

Four things: where your friends already play, whether the client's default region matches where you actually live, when the reset would land in your day, and whether your Kuro account has a real email and password bound to it, as covered in our Wuthering Waves account security and recovery guide. All four are quicker to check than to fix afterwards.

Take them in order. Friends first, because it is the only one of the four that another person's decision controls — ask before you install, not after. Default region second: read the selector rather than assuming, and turn off any VPN before your first login so the client's guess is based on your genuine connection.

Reset timing third. Work out roughly when your chosen region's early morning falls in your local clock and decide whether you can live with it. Account bindings last, and this one applies no matter which region you land on — a bound email plus a password you control is the difference between "I got locked out" and "I got locked out permanently".

Beyond that, the ordinary progression advice takes over. If you are at the very start, the Wuthering Waves beginner's guide to Resonators, Echoes and Astrite is the right next read, and levelling your Data Bank faster matters far more to your first month than which continent your server sits on.

Frequently asked questions

Can two people share one Wuthering Waves account across regions?

They can share the account, but not usefully across regions. Each region is a separate save, so two people on different regions would be playing two unrelated saves that happen to share a login — and only one session can be active at a time.

Does a VPN let me play on a different region?

A VPN changes which region the client guesses by default, but it does not move an existing save, and it usually makes latency worse rather than better. Choosing the region deliberately at the login screen achieves the same thing without the downsides.

Will Kuro Games ever add region transfers?

There is no announced plan for one. It has not been offered since global launch, and no official statement has suggested it is coming. Treat the region choice as permanent unless Kuro Games says otherwise in an official announcement.

If I start a second save on another region, does it cost me anything?

Nothing beyond your time. The same Kuro Games account can hold saves on multiple regions, each with its own UID and progress. Purchases and Astrite are not shared between them, so anything you have spent stays on the save you spent it on.
