Wuthering Waves Jingran Build Guide: HP, Heavy Attacks, Teams
By Rivan Wi 8 September 2026, 02:00 WIB
Jingran arrives on 10 September in Version 3.6 Phase 2, alongside Hiyuki and Mornye reruns — and he breaks two habits at once.
He scales off Max HP, not ATK. And his Heavy Attacks don't come from holding Basic Attack like almost every other Resonator's do.
Get either of those wrong and he'll feel weak for reasons that have nothing to do with your Echoes. Here's how to build and play him properly.
The short version
- 5-star Fusion Broadblade Main DPS. Banner opens 10 September 2026.
- Scales off Max HP — HP feeds his Shields, Fusion DMG Bonus and bonus ATK.
- Hold Resonance Skill, not Basic Attack, to cast his Heavy Attacks.
- Signature weapon: Thousandfold Deliverance. Budget option: Lamp of Nether Road from Version 3.5.
- Main Echo: Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis.
- Stat priority: Max HP → CRIT Rate → CRIT DMG → Heavy Attack DMG.
- Self-sufficient — he shields himself and doesn't need an ATK buffer.
The input that trips people up
Start here, because it's the thing that will confuse you in your first fight.
In Wuthering Waves, Heavy Attacks normally come from holding Basic Attack. Jingran's do not.
At 300 Qi, you hold Resonance Skill instead. That casts his stance-swapping Heavy Attack:
- From Yang Font → Stardome Meander, which flips him to Yin Vessel.
- From Yin Vessel → Soul Raid, which flips him back.
He starts every fight in Yang Font.
If you play him on muscle memory from other Broadblade DPS units, you'll hold Basic Attack, get nothing, and conclude the character is undertuned. He isn't — you're pressing the wrong button.
How Qi actually builds
Qi caps at 300, and there's a detail here that makes his rotation smoother than it looks on paper.
Each stance has its own four-hit Normal Attack chain. In both chains, stages 3 and 4 deal Heavy Attack damage and restore 50 Qi each.
That means half of his basic combo already counts toward his Heavy Attack scaling. You aren't building Qi with filler hits and then cashing it in — the build-up itself is damage in the same category the payoff scales with.
One more layer: casting either Resonance Skill grants Cleanse of Impurity for four seconds. During that window, pressing Basic Attack casts an upgraded version of the skill instead — Netherworld Traverse in Yin Vessel, or Afterlife's Guide in Yang Font.
So the loop is: build Qi through the chain, hold Resonance Skill at 300 to swap stance and land the Heavy Attack, then use the Cleanse window for the upgraded skill before rebuilding.
Why HP is the whole build
Jingran's Inherent Skill, Hark the Dust, grants a recurring self-Shield scaling off Max HP. His second passive, Trace the Vestige, builds Ghost Shroud stacks whenever any teammate gains a Shield — not just himself.
And Max HP feeds three things simultaneously: his Shields, his Fusion DMG Bonus, and additional ATK.
The practical consequence: HP substats are damage substats on him. On most DPS units, HP rolls are dead weight you tolerate on the pieces where you got lucky elsewhere. On Jingran they're the primary stat.
He also manages a Life Flame resource, consumed gradually while attacking and restored through his enhanced attacks — one more reason his rotation rewards flow rather than spamming.
Weapons
Thousandfold Deliverance is his signature and best-in-slot. It provides HP, CRIT, Shield synergy and Heavy Attack bonuses — every stat his kit converts into damage.
Lamp of Nether Road, which shipped in Version 3.5, reads like it was designed for him and is the strongest non-signature option.
General rule for alternatives: prioritise Broadblades offering HP, CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG, with Heavy Attack DMG or DEF Ignore as the tiebreakers.
Echoes
Main Echo: Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis — it complements his Fusion damage profile directly.
Cost 4 Echo: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG main stat. If his passives and weapon already push his CRIT Rate high, switch the Cost 4 to CRIT DMG rather than overcapping Rate.
Two viable layouts:
- 4-4-1-1-1 — easier to run two CRIT-focused Cost 4 Echoes.
- 4-3-3-1-1 — lets you fit more HP% Cost 3 Echoes.
Choose based on what your Echo inventory actually supports. Neither is strictly better; the layout that lets you use good pieces beats the layout that looks optimal on a spreadsheet.
Stat priority: Max HP, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Heavy Attack DMG.
Skill priority
- Forte Circuit — his entire rotation runs through generating and spending Qi.
- Resonance Liberation — boosts his HP-to-ATK conversion, restores Qi, and adds ghost attacks to every enhanced Heavy Attack.
- Resonance Skill — Qi generation, combo flow, and the shields from his inherent passive.
Teams
The reference team is Shorekeeper and Iuno.
Rotation: run Shorekeeper's rotation first, cast her Resonance Liberation to set up team buffs, swap to Iuno, complete her Sub-DPS rotation to prepare the Heavy Attack amplification from her Outro Skill, then bring in Jingran.
One Echo note that matters: on Shorekeeper, use the 3-cost Spacetrek Explorer as her main Echo. It grants a party-wide Shield — which feeds Jingran's Ghost Shroud stacks through Trace the Vestige.
He does not need a dedicated shielder or an ATK buffer. He shields himself and doesn't scale off ATK, which frees a team slot most Main DPS units spend on support. Shield-generating teammates still help by triggering Ghost Shroud, but they're an amplifier rather than a requirement.
Where he doesn't fit: if your high-level Fusion team is already built around a maxed Changli or Lupa, there's no on-field slot for a second damage dealer. He's a replacement, not an addition.
Should you pull?
Yes, if you want a Fusion Main DPS that isn't built around ATK stacking, or you're tired of managing a separate shielder.
Yes, if you prefer deliberate heavy hits over rapid skill spam. His rotation rewards flow and timing rather than input speed.
No, if you dislike stance management. Tracking Life Flame and swapping forms mid-fight is the core loop, not an optional layer.
No, if your Fusion team is already settled around another on-field carry.
One budget note: Qingxiao headlined Phase 1 and Jingran headlines Phase 2 of the same version. Securing both without banked Astrite from earlier patches is unlikely without early 50/50 wins — so commit to the one you actually want rather than splitting.
Two caveats on this guide
Stance names vary across sources. Yin Vessel and Yang Font also appear as Bearing Yin and Embracing Yang, or Negative Yin and Embracing Yang, depending on which translation you read. Go by the in-game text.
Some figures still trace back to beta builds. With the banner three days out, they should be close to final — but the client is the authority, not any guide written before release.
Building him after you pull
Jingran's ceiling sits behind Echo farming, weapon materials and Forte Circuit levels — the half of Wuthering Waves that can't be rushed once the banner is already open.
