A Tacet Field is the repeatable Echo farming domain in Wuthering Waves. You clear its combat challenge once, then spend 60 Waveplate on a Tacet Suppression claim to collect Echoes from that field's two featured Sonata sets, plus Echo EXP, Tuners and Shell Credits. Natural Waveplate regeneration funds exactly four claims a day, which is why field choice matters more than field count.

That last sentence is the whole article in miniature. Wuthering Waves does not let you grind Echoes by playing longer; it lets you grind them by spending a currency that refills on a clock you cannot influence. Every decision that follows, from which field you stand in to what Data Bank level you reach first, is really a decision about how to spend a fixed daily allowance of 240 Waveplate. Understanding the Tacet Field system properly is what turns that allowance from a trickle of junk 3-star Echoes into a steady supply of the exact Sonata pieces your team is missing.

What is a Tacet Field in Wuthering Waves?

A Tacet Field is a Waveworn Phenomenon: a fixed open-world location where the sky inverts into a hanging sea and a deep, cross-shaped Tacet Mark scars the ground. In gameplay terms it is a repeatable combat domain that pays out Echoes and Echo development materials.

The in-game Archive treats Tacet Fields as more than set dressing. They are widely believed to be where Tacet Discords originate, formed when the Etheric Sea converges on a point and tears a link between the world and an unknown space through a white Resonance Cord. Newly formed fields pass through a Dormant period during which the area is relatively safe, and Kuro Games' own lore entries note that faster-forming fields tend to stay dormant longer while producing stronger Discords when they wake. That detail is flavour rather than mechanics, but it explains why every field you can farm sits inside a scarred, plant-killed patch of map rather than in a dungeon entrance.

The distinction that trips up new players is between the place and the activity. The Tacet Field is the location. Tacet Suppression is the challenge you run inside it, and it is the Tacet Suppression claim that costs Waveplate. You clear the waves of Tacet Discords once with no resource cost at all, and only at the reward screen does the game ask whether you want to pay. Because the fields revive periodically through a process the Guidebook calls Tacetite Bloom, the same location can be farmed indefinitely, so nothing about a Tacet Field is consumed except your own currency.

Wuthering Waves shipped with seven attemptable Tacet Fields spread across Huanglong, and Kuro Games has added more with each new region, so the current total moves every major version. The Guidebook in the main menu carries a dedicated tab that lists every field available to your account, which is a more reliable count than any wiki table.

How much Waveplate does a Tacet Field claim cost?

Each Tacet Suppression claim costs 60 Waveplate. Waveplate regenerates at one unit every six minutes and caps at 240, so a full bar buys exactly four claims and a full day of uninterrupted regeneration buys four more. Nothing you do in combat changes that rate.

Those numbers are worth sitting with, because they are the real constraint on Echo progression. Sixty Waveplate is the most expensive standard claim in the game: a Forgery Challenge, which pays weapon and skill ascension materials, costs 40 for comparison. So every Tacet Field run you make is a run you are not making at a Forgery domain, and the opportunity cost is one and a half Forgery clears rather than one.

The system does forgive you for logging off. Once you hit the 240 cap, further regeneration is banked as Waveplate Crystals at the slower rate of one per twelve minutes, up to a ceiling of 480, and those Crystals convert back to Waveplate at a flat one-to-one rate whenever you want them. In practice that means a player who cannot log in daily still loses nothing for roughly two extra days, after which the Crystal reserve fills and genuine waste begins. Crystal Solvent, the consumable handed out through the Pioneer Podcast and redemption codes, restores 60 Waveplate instantly, which is not a coincidence: one Solvent is precisely one Tacet Suppression claim.

Since the 1.4 update, Kuro Games' patch notes also describe a double-claim option that lets you pay twice the Waveplate to collect twice the rewards from a single Tacet Suppression, Forgery or Simulation clear. It saves real-world minutes rather than resources, because the exchange rate is unchanged, but on a farming day where you intend to burn a Crystal reserve anyway it removes a great deal of repeated loading.

What do Tacet Fields actually drop?

A Tacet Suppression claim pays Echoes from the field's featured Sonata sets, Echo EXP items in the Sealed Tube family, Tuners for rolling substats, Shell Credits, Union EXP and Intimacy. The Echoes and the Sealed Tubes are the reason to run it; everything else is incidental.

The Sonata targeting is the feature that separates Tacet Fields from open-world Echo hunting. Out in the world you absorb whatever Echo the enemy happens to drop and hope the Sonata effect is one you want, whereas a Tacet Field is themed, so each one pays into a specific pair of sets. If your Spectro carry needs Celestial Light and your sub-DPS needs Moonlit Clouds, those are two different fields, and standing in the wrong one for a week is the single most common way players stall their build without noticing.

The first time you clear any given field the game hands over a fixed opening bonus that does not repeat: Astrite ×20, Advanced Sealed Tube ×2, Shell Credit ×20,000, and four Echoes, two from each of that field's featured Sonata sets. Because the Astrite is per-field and the Echoes are guaranteed set pieces, sweeping every unlocked Tacet Field once is genuinely worth a low-level account's time even before it can afford to claim rewards regularly.

What the field does not give you is main-stat control. Tacet Suppression decides the Sonata set and the rarity band, then rolls the rest. That is why the Echo pipeline in Wuthering Waves is a two-stage process rather than one, and why the Echo cost, main stat and tuning rules matter as much as the farming route: a 5-star Echo with the wrong main stat is worth less than a 4-star with the right one.

How does your Data Bank level change Tacet Field rewards?

Data Bank level controls the rarity distribution of Echoes a Tacet Field can drop, and the volume of Echo development materials scales with both your Data Bank level and your SOL3 Phase. A low Data Bank does not merely slow you down; it makes high-rarity Echoes impossible to receive at all.

This is the highest-leverage fact in the whole system, and it is the reason so many accounts feel stuck. Two players can run the identical field with the identical 60 Waveplate and walk away with meaningfully different loot, because one of them raised their Data Bank first. Since the drop table is gated rather than merely weighted, spending Waveplate on Tacet Fields before your Data Bank supports 5-star Echoes converts a scarce currency into Echoes you will delete within the week.

The practical sequencing follows directly. Push Data Bank progression through absorbing new Echo types and clearing content until you reach the level that unlocks the rarity band you want, and only then commit your daily Waveplate to Tacet Suppression. Until that point, Forgery Challenges and boss materials are a better home for the currency, because ascension materials do not expire in value the way an under-rarity Echo does. The same logic explains why SOL3 Phase ascension is not optional housekeeping: it raises the material payout on every claim you will make for the rest of the account's life.

Which Tacet Field should you farm?

Pick the field whose featured Sonata sets your current team actually equips, not the one closest to a Resonance Beacon. Each field also carries an Effect that buffs one Resonator damage type and reduces one enemy damage type, so the fastest clears come from bringing the element the field already favours.

Those Effects are published on the field's challenge screen before you commit, and they are generous. The Qichi Village field in the Central Plains increases Resonator Intro Skill damage while reducing enemy Spectro damage; the Desorock Highland field boosts Electro damage and cuts enemy Havoc damage; the Wuming Bay field, tucked underground near Tiger's Maw Mine, favours Glacio and softens enemy Fusion. Reading that line before you queue turns a fight that tests your rotation into one that barely tests it, which matters when you intend to repeat the clear many times.

Set priority should follow your weakest link rather than your strongest character. A carry sitting on a complete Sonata already converts Waveplate poorly, because you are hunting substat rolls at that point and the field cannot help you there. A support with three mismatched pieces converts it superbly, since every claim has a real chance of being an upgrade. If you are unsure which sets your roster is short of, working through an efficient Echo farming routine first will usually surface the gap faster than auditing characters one at a time.

How do you clear a Tacet Field efficiently?

Bring a team that matches the field Effect, kill the waves quickly rather than safely, and claim with the double-Waveplate option when you are working through a Crystal reserve. The combat itself is not the bottleneck; the number of times you are willing to reload the same arena is.

Tacet Field encounters are wave-based rather than single-boss, so sustained clear speed beats burst. A rotation that resets cleanly between packs, using Intro and Outro transitions to keep buffs alive across swaps, will finish a field in noticeably less time than a team built around one long ultimate window. That is a general Wuthering Waves combat point rather than a Tacet Field point, but it compounds here because you are repeating the fight rather than winning it once.

Two habits waste more time than any combat mistake. The first is travelling to a field you have already decided against, which happens whenever players farm by location memory instead of checking the Sonata pair on the challenge screen. The second is clearing fields while sitting at the Waveplate cap, since every minute spent at 240 is a minute of regeneration diverted into the slower Crystal track. Claim first, then clear.

How many Tacet Field runs a week actually matter?

Roughly 28 claims a week are available from natural regeneration if you spend every point on Tacet Suppression, and almost nobody should. A realistic split gives Tacet Fields two to three claims a day during an active Echo project and none at all when your sets are complete.

The reason is that Echo farming has a natural endpoint per character while ascension material farming does not. Once a Resonator has five Echoes in the right Sonata with acceptable main stats, further claims only feed the Tuner economy, and Tuners arrive from several sources besides Tacet Fields. At that stage the same 60 Waveplate buys a Forgery clear that removes a hard block on levelling a weapon or a skill, which is a strictly larger improvement to your account.

The inverse holds during a build project. If you have just pulled a Resonator whose best set you do not own, concentrating every available claim into that one field for a few days is far better than spreading claims across three fields, because Sonata sets do not partially function. Four pieces of the right set beat one piece each of four right sets, and the Waveplate maths is identical either way. Treat Tacet Field farming as a project you switch on and off, not a daily chore, and the currency stops feeling scarce.
