Genshin Reroll and Starter Accounts: How They Work and What to Pick
By Sir Ayup 10 October 2026, 22:00 WIB
A Genshin reroll account is a fresh Genshin Impact account that has been played just far enough to unlock wishes, with its early pulls already spent and at least one strong 5-star character to show for it. A starter account goes a step further, usually with a limited 5-star, a few hours of progress and some Primogems or Fates saved. Genshin is different from many gacha games here: the beginner banner does not guarantee a 5-star, so a good reroll account is mostly about luck someone else has already had.
This guide explains how rerolling works in Genshin Impact, why reroll accounts usually centre on limited characters, the difference between a reroll and a starter account, and how to pick the right one.
How Genshin Rerolling Works

Rerolling means creating a new account, playing until you can wish, spending the free pulls, and starting again if the result is poor. In Genshin Impact, each attempt follows the same path:
- A new HoYoverse account and email for every attempt.
- The opening quests up to "Knights of Favonius" in Prologue Act I, which unlocks wishing at around Adventure Rank 5. This usually takes 20 to 35 minutes.
- Early rewards from the tutorial, first login and early exploration, which add up to enough for a modest number of pulls.
The pulls themselves go on three kinds of banner: the Beginners' Wish, the standard banner (Wanderlust Invocation), and the limited Character Event Wish, which uses Intertwined Fates. Because the free pulls are limited, most rerolls come down to a single banner choice and a lot of luck.
Why Genshin Reroll Accounts Focus on Limited Characters

The Beginners' Wish is the cheapest banner in the game, with 20 wishes at a 20% discount, but it only guarantees Noelle and one other 4-star or 5-star character. Unlike some other games, it does not guarantee a 5-star at all.
The standard 5-star pool, which includes characters such as Diluc, Jean, Keqing, Mona, Qiqi, Tighnari and Dehya, is also available to everyone over time through the permanent banner. So in Genshin, a reroll account with only a standard 5-star offers relatively little.
The accounts worth considering usually have something harder to get:
- A limited 5-star character, pulled on a Character Event Wish, which only returns during a rerun.
- Two 5-stars from the early pulls, which is rare and saves many weeks of saving Primogems.
- A limited 5-star weapon, especially the signature weapon of a limited character on the account.
Reroll Account vs Starter Account

Sellers often use the two names for the same thing, but a Genshin starter account usually means a little more than a basic Genshin reroll:
- Reroll account: around Adventure Rank 5 to 10, with the early pulls spent and one or two 5-star characters. Most of the story and map are untouched, and many early rewards are still waiting.
- Starter account: a few hours further in, often with a limited 5-star, a handful of useful 4-stars, and some Primogems or Intertwined Fates saved for the next banner.
Neither includes much real progress. Expect little exploration, few characters built, and no Spiral Abyss clears. For a new player, that is the appeal: you still play the story yourself, just with a stronger opening team.
What to Pick: Matching the Account to Your Goal

The right Genshin Impact reroll account depends on what you want from the start:
- One specific limited character. Choose an account that already has that character, ideally with a guarantee or Fates left for their weapon. Weighing up who is worth pulling in a given version, as in the Version 7.1 Vesna vs Vodyanitsa comparison, helps you judge which characters will stay useful.
- A strong team rather than one big name. Look at how the 5-star fits with the 4-stars on the account. A limited 5-star with supporting 4-stars of the right elements is often worth more than two 5-stars that do not work together. What makes a lineup work is laid out in the elemental reactions and team-building fundamentals.
- A cheap head start. A basic reroll account with a good standard 5-star costs little and gives you a reliable main character while you save for limited banners.
- Future pulls. Some starter accounts are valued as much for their saved Primogems, Fates and pity as for their characters, so count those as part of the price.
Whatever you choose, keep the server in mind. Progress is separate on America, Europe, Asia and TW, HK, MO, and an account cannot move between them, so pick the server your friends play on if co-op matters to you.
Pity and Guarantees: What Carries Over
Pity is part of what you are buying, so it helps to know the rules:
- Character Event Wish: a 5-star is guaranteed within 90 wishes, with a 50/50 for the featured character. Losing the 50/50 guarantees the featured character next time, and the Capturing Radiance system slightly improves the odds of winning over time. Pity and guarantee carry over between character banners.
- Weapon Event Wish: a 5-star within 80 wishes, with a 75/25 split for featured weapons and the Epitomized Path to lock in the weapon you choose.
- Chronicled Wish: a separate banner where you choose a 5-star to target, with its own pity.
A starter account that lost its last 50/50 is guaranteed the next featured character, which can be worth a meaningful amount of saved Primogems. The wish history in the game shows recent pulls, so you can confirm the pity before you buy.
Checks Before You Buy
Reroll and starter accounts are cheap, but the same checks apply as to any account purchase:
- Server and UID: ask for a short recording of the profile with the UID visible, then the character list and inventory.
- Wish history: confirm what was pulled, on which banner, and the current pity.
- Primogems, Fates and Starglitter: count them, since they are part of the value.
- Email access: the account should come with a fresh email inbox handed over in full, because changing a HoYoverse account's bound email needs a code from the current inbox.
The full step-by-step process, from checking the email to paying safely and securing the account in the first hour, is covered in how to buy a Genshin account safely. It is also worth remembering that HoYoverse's terms do not allow account sales, so pay through a checkout that holds the money until you have confirmed everything, never directly to a seller.
Reroll Yourself or Start Fresh?
Buying an account is only one of three reasonable routes:
- Reroll yourself if you have time and enjoy the opening hours. Each attempt costs around half an hour, and the account is fully yours from the first login.
- Buy a reroll or starter account if you want a particular limited character from the start and would rather not spend many hours chasing it.
- Start fresh if any decent start will do. New accounts collect plenty of free wishes as they explore, and limited events sometimes hand out free characters outright, such as the free limited 5-star offered during Genshin Impact's 6th anniversary.
If you decide a head start is worth it, you can compare Genshin Impact Accounts that list their server, characters, wish history and email access up front, hand the daily Resin and exploration routine on your new account to a player through Genshin Impact Hourly Services, or clear Spiral Abyss and other endgame goals with Genshin Impact Boosting.
