Is Wuthering Waves Worth Playing? Co-op, Platforms and Gacha
By Sir Ayup 8 October 2026, 15:00 WIB
Is Wuthering Waves multiplayer? Partly: up to three players can explore, fight bosses and farm together in co-op, but the story is played solo. It runs on PC, mobile, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with one shared save, and it is free to play, with characters and weapons coming from a gacha system that has a fixed pity. Whether it is worth playing comes down to how much you value fast, skill-based combat, and how comfortable you are with a game built around limited banners.
This guide covers what co-op actually includes, which platforms the game is on and how cross-save works, how the gacha is structured, and who tends to enjoy the game most.
Is Wuthering Waves Multiplayer? What Co-op Includes

Wuthering Waves is a single-player game with an optional co-op mode, not an online multiplayer game in the competitive sense. There is no PvP. Co-op unlocks at Union Level 22, and from then on you can invite friends or join random players through the co-op menu, in groups of up to three players.
In co-op you can:
- Explore the open world together.
- Fight overworld enemies and bosses.
- Farm materials and Echoes, the equipment you collect from defeated enemies.
What stays solo is the main story and most quest content, so co-op sits alongside the campaign rather than replacing it. For most players, it is a way to farm with company rather than the main reason to play.
The one hard limit is region. Co-op works across devices, so a phone player can team up with a PC or console player, but only if both accounts are on the same server region. The five regions, and what that means for your UID, are explained in how Wuthering Waves servers and cross-save work.
Which Platforms Is Wuthering Waves On?

Wuthering Waves is available on:
- PC: through the official launcher, the Epic Games Store and Steam, and also through the Xbox app on PC.
- iOS and Android: free from the App Store and Google Play.
- Mac: through the Mac App Store on supported Apple silicon Macs.
- PlayStation 5: available since the start of 2025.
- Xbox Series X|S: available since July 2026, including Xbox Cloud Gaming.
So, is Wuthering Waves on PS5? Yes. Is Wuthering Waves on Xbox? Yes, on Xbox Series X|S, where the Series X targets 60 FPS and the Series S targets 30 FPS. It is not available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. Game Pass members get some extra cosmetic and material rewards on Xbox, but the game itself is free on every platform with or without a subscription.
On PC and phones, hardware matters more than on consoles. The game is demanding in busy fights and large areas, so it is worth checking the PC requirements and storage size before you install.
Is Wuthering Waves Cross-Platform?
Yes, with two conditions. Wuthering Waves uses one Kuro Games account across every platform, and a PSN, Xbox, Steam or mobile login all lead to that same account. Your characters, Union Level and progress follow you between devices, as long as you stay on the same region.
The conditions to know:
- One device at a time. You can switch between PC, phone and console, but only one can be logged in at once.
- Paid currency stays on its store. Lunite bought through one storefront, such as PlayStation or the App Store, generally cannot be spent on another platform's client. Progress and earned currency carry over; purchased Lunite does not.
Console players should also take care when first linking. Signing in with a brand-new console account can create a separate empty save, so if you already play on PC or mobile, link your existing Kuro account rather than starting fresh.
How the Gacha Works

Resonators (characters) and weapons come from banners called Convenes. Each pull costs one Tide, and Tides are bought with 160 Astrite, the premium currency you earn from play or buy with Lunite.
The key rules:
- Hard pity at 80 pulls. You are guaranteed a 5-star within 80 pulls on character and weapon banners.
- A 50/50 on character banners. Your first 5-star on a limited character banner is either the featured character or a standard one. If you lose, the next 5-star is guaranteed to be the featured character.
- No 50/50 on the weapon banner. The limited weapon banner guarantees the featured weapon within 80 pulls.
- A 4-star every 10 pulls on every banner.
- A standard weapon selector, which lets you choose the 5-star weapon you are pulling for on the permanent weapon banner.
In practice, getting one specific limited character can take up to 160 pulls in the worst case, and that is before duplicate copies, which unlock extra abilities through Resonance Chains. Free players earn a steady stream of Astrite from events, exploration and endgame modes, often enough for one limited character every so often if they save rather than pulling on every banner. A version-by-version breakdown, such as the free pulls available in Version 3.7, shows how much a patch typically gives.
Is Wuthering Waves Good? Strengths and Weaknesses

Opinions on Wuthering Waves are split along fairly predictable lines. Critic scores sit in the low-to-mid 70s out of 100 depending on platform, while player reception has improved over time and the game has picked up several player-voted awards.
What players tend to praise:
- Combat. Parries, dodges, character swaps with intro and outro skills, and boss fights that reward timing. It is the main reason most people stay, and the combat guide to parrying, dodging and rotations shows how deep it goes.
- Movement. Wall-running, grappling and gliding make exploring large maps quick.
- Steady updates. New regions, characters and events arrive on a regular version cycle, and the game is much more polished than it was at launch.
What players tend to criticise:
- Story pacing, especially early on, where the narrative can feel dense and slow before it picks up.
- Gacha costs. Limited characters, their duplicates and their signature weapons add up quickly for players who want everything.
- Echo farming. Building characters properly depends on farming Echoes with the right stats, which can feel grindy.
- Hardware demands on older phones and lower-end PCs.
Who Wuthering Waves Is For
Put together, the game suits some players far more than others:
- Players who love action combat: this is where Wuthering Waves is strongest, and boss fights and endgame modes keep testing your skill.
- Free players who are patient: the pity system is predictable, and saving Astrite for characters you really want goes a long way.
- Players who switch devices: cross-save across PC, mobile and both major consoles makes it easy to play anywhere on one account.
- Players looking for a multiplayer game: co-op is a side feature, so if playing with friends is the main goal, Wuthering Waves may feel limited.
Newer players will get up to speed faster with the beginner's guide to Resonators, Echoes and Astrite, which covers the systems that matter in the first weeks.
If you decide the game is worth your time but not the long climb from a fresh start, the slow parts are the Union Level, the roster and the Echo farming. You can start on one of the Wuthering Waves Accounts that already has the Resonators you want, hand the daily Waveplate and Echo farming to a player through Wuthering Waves Hourly Services, or clear endgame content faster with Wuthering Waves Boosting.
