Who Tops the HSR Tier List Right Now? Best Characters by Role
By Sir Ayup
As of Version 4.6 (November 2026), the top of the HSR tier list belongs to Silver Wolf LV.999, Himeko • Nova, Castorice and Archer on damage, Sparkle, Sunday, Tribbie and Robin • Summeretto on support, and Hyacine and Pearl on sustain. The Elation path has reshaped the top tier this year, while several older carries still hold up well inside the right team.
This guide from gamemarket.gg explains how the tiers are decided, ranks the major characters by role from SS to A, and shows how to turn the list into better pull decisions, including the free 5-star pick arriving in Version 4.7.
How This Tier List Is Built
Every placement below reflects performance at Eidolon 0 across the three main endgame modes: Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow. Rankings from the major tier lists for Phase 2 of Version 4.6 were compared, and a character only sits in a tier when most of them agree.
Role matters as much as raw power. A team in Honkai: Star Rail usually runs one main damage dealer, one or two supports and a sustain, so an SS support can raise an account more than a second S-tier carry. That is why the list is split by role instead of ranking everyone in one line.
A tier also says nothing about personal taste. An S-tier character you enjoy and can build properly will clear more content than an SS-tier one sitting at level 60 with the wrong relics.
The HSR Tier List for Version 4.6
SS Tier
These characters top almost every ranking this version and fit into the strongest teams with little compromise.
- Damage dealers: Silver Wolf LV.999, Himeko • Nova, Castorice, Archer, Evanescia, Ashveil, Rin Tohsaka, Evernight, Aventurine • Waveflair
- Supports: Sparkle, Sunday, Tribbie, Robin • Summeretto, Yao Guang, Mortenax Blade
- Sustains: Hyacine, Pearl, Huohuo, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae
Mortenax Blade is the one hard to label. Some lists treat him as a debuffer and others as a follow-up damage dealer, but every ranking places him at the top either way.
S Tier
S-tier characters clear all current content comfortably, usually needing a more specific team or a key Light Cone to match the SS group.
- Damage dealers: Phainon, Firefly, Saber, Kafka, Gilgamesh, Acheron, Anaxa, Mydei, The Herta, Black Swan, Aglaea, Hysilens, Sparxie
- Supports: Cyrene, Cerydra, The Dahlia, Cipher, Ruan Mei, Fugue, Robin
- Sustains: Lingsha, Aventurine
A Tier
A-tier characters still work in endgame, but they rely heavily on Eidolons, signature gear or a narrow team to keep up.
- Damage dealers: Feixiao, Seele, Blade, Jingliu, Yunli, Jade, Rappa, Boothill, Jing Yuan, Dr. Ratio, Topaz & Numby
- Supports: Silver Wolf, Jiaoqiu, Bronya, Tingyun, Pela, Welt
- Sustains: Fu Xuan, Gallagher, Luocha
Characters not listed here sit in B tier or lower on most rankings. Many of them are early 4-stars and standard units that still help new accounts through the story.
Why Elation Changed the Top of the List
The biggest shift this year came from the Elation path. Elation carries such as Silver Wolf LV.999 and Aventurine • Waveflair scale with the Elation stat instead of plain ATK, which lets them hit far harder inside a dedicated team. That shift in how Elation damage is calculated is the main reason so many new names now sit above long-time favorites.
Pearl shows the same effect on the sustain side. She is the first sustain that also speeds up an Elation team, which is why several lists moved her into SS within weeks of release and why Huohuo now competes for the slot rather than owning it.
Where the Rankings Disagree
The biggest disagreements involve older characters. Acheron sits near the top on two major lists but a full tier lower on another, depending on how much weight each list gives to her team requirements. Jing Yuan and Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae swing between S and B for the same reason: both still deal strong damage, but they need more setup than newer carries to reach it.
Supports show a similar split. The original Robin and Ruan Mei remain excellent in the teams built around them, yet newer supports such as Sunday, Tribbie and Robin • Summeretto fit into more teams without changes. When two lists place a character two tiers apart, the gap usually comes down to team flexibility rather than raw strength.
How to Use the Tier List When You Pull
Supports tend to give the most value per pull. A single SS support improves several teams, while a second carry only improves one, so many players secure one strong support before chasing another damage dealer. The full picture of how characters, paths and teams fit together helps when deciding which gap to fill first.
Eidolons matter less than they look. Most SS characters are already top tier at Eidolon 0, and the jump from a few extra Eidolons rarely beats adding a new character, as the breakdown of which Eidolons actually matter shows.
Timing is the last piece. A limited character can take up to 180 pulls if the 50/50 is lost, so the Stellar Jade needed for full pity is worth checking before committing to a banner.
The Free 5-Star Pick in Version 4.7
Version 4.7 arrives on November 11, 2026, with Aha joining as a new 5-star. The update also brings a free 5-star selector: players at Trailblaze Level 4 or higher can choose one of Acheron, Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae or Jing Yuan until December 23, 2026.
Based on current rankings, Acheron is the strongest pick for most accounts, landing in S tier or higher on most lists. Jing Yuan suits players who already own follow-up attack supports, and Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae fits accounts with strong Imaginary supports already built. Newer players can find the basics of Warps, characters and Stellar Jade useful before deciding how the free pick fits their roster.
A List That Moves Every Version
Tier lists in Honkai: Star Rail shift every few weeks, as new characters and new endgame buffs change which teams clear fastest. The characters in SS today will likely stay strong for a long time, but the exact order will move again once Version 4.7 settles in.
If you would rather start with a strong roster already built, you can browse Honkai Star Rail Accounts, hand dailies and Trailblaze Power to a verified player through Honkai Star Rail Hourly Services, or clear endgame faster with Honkai Star Rail Boosting.
