Honkai: Star Rail Stellar Jade Farming Guide: Best Free Sources

Stellar Jade is Honkai: Star Rail's premium currency, and almost all of it is free. Every Warp costs 160 Stellar Jade, so a ten-pull needs 1,600. Daily Training, Simulated Universe, endgame modes, story missions, achievements and event codes are the sources that actually fund a free player's pulls.

That answer hides a lot of nuance, though. Two Trailblazers who both play "every day" can end a patch cycle hundreds of pulls apart, because one of them is clearing the repeatable content that pays in bulk while the other only logs in for Daily Training and Assignments. This guide breaks down every reliable Stellar Jade source in Honkai: Star Rail, explains roughly what each one is worth, and shows how to turn that income into a predictable pull budget instead of a guess. Everything below describes mechanics that HoYoverse has kept stable across versions — where a number moves patch to patch, the mechanism is explained rather than a figure you would have to re-check.

What is Stellar Jade and what can you actually spend it on?

Stellar Jade is the premium currency of Honkai: Star Rail. Its main use is converting into Warps — 160 Stellar Jade buys one Star Rail Pass or Star Rail Special Pass at the Warp screen. Secondary uses include Trailblaze Power refills and inventory or friend-slot expansions.

The distinction that matters is between Stellar Jade and Oneiric Shard. Oneiric Shard is the purchased currency; it converts into Stellar Jade at a 1:1 rate. Stellar Jade itself cannot be bought directly, which is why the game's economy is often described as "free currency with a paid on-ramp." For anyone building a pull plan, this means your Stellar Jade balance and your Warp count are the same number divided by 160, and nothing else in the game competes seriously for that balance.

There are three things worth spending Stellar Jade on outside of Warps, and two of them are usually mistakes:

• Trailblaze Power refills. The first refill of a day is cheap, then the cost escalates steeply within the same day. Refilling once during a double-drop farming event is defensible. Refilling four times because you want one more Relic run is how accounts end a patch two pulls short of a guarantee.
• Inventory and friend-list expansions. Small, permanent, and genuinely low value — the base limits are generous enough that most players never hit them.
• Warps. This is the real answer. Treat everything else as an exception.

Stellar Jade sits alongside a wider set of currencies — Credits, Undying Embers, Undying Starlight, Star Rail Passes — that all interact with the Warp system in different ways. If the whole currency web is still fuzzy, the HSR progression guide covering levels, Warp and characters maps how they connect before you commit to a savings plan.

How much Stellar Jade does a single Warp cost, and what does that mean for planning?

One Warp costs 160 Stellar Jade. A ten-pull costs 1,600. Because the soft pity and guarantee systems are counted in pulls rather than Jade, every planning decision in Honkai: Star Rail eventually converts back to that 160 figure — it is the only exchange rate you need to memorise.

The practical planning numbers fall out of that immediately. A hard pity on a Limited Character Warp banner sits at 90 pulls, which is 14,400 Stellar Jade. The 50/50 system means a worst-case guaranteed acquisition is 180 pulls, or 28,800 Stellar Jade, if you lose the coin flip at full pity and then go the distance again. Light Cone banners use a shorter 80-pull hard pity, so a worst-case there is 160 pulls.

Those are ceilings, not expectations. Average five-star acquisition lands well before hard pity because soft pity begins raising the rate in the mid-seventies, and most players average somewhere in the low-to-mid seventies per five-star. But budgeting against the ceiling is the only way to promise yourself a character. If you want a specific limited unit and cannot tolerate missing, the honest number to save toward is 28,800 Stellar Jade — roughly 180 pulls — and anything below that is a probability, not a plan.

Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes complicate the arithmetic slightly in your favour. Passes you already hold are free pulls that never touched your Jade balance, so your real pull count is (Stellar Jade ÷ 160) + Passes on hand. Players who forget to count their Passes routinely under-estimate their own budget by ten to twenty pulls.

Which daily and weekly activities give the most Stellar Jade?

Daily Training is the single most reliable Stellar Jade source in the game: filling the 500-point activity bar pays 60 Stellar Jade every day, which is 1,800 over a 30-day cycle — more than eleven pulls from logging in alone. Simulated Universe weekly points are the second pillar.

Daily Training takes ten to fifteen minutes once you know the routine. The bar fills from ordinary actions you would take anyway: spending Trailblaze Power, completing an Assignment, using a consumable, defeating enemies with Weakness Break, and so on. The important detail is that the reward is all-or-nothing in practical terms — partial bars pay proportionally smaller amounts, so a half-completed day costs you real pulls. Over a typical six-week patch cycle, perfect Daily Training alone is worth roughly 2,500 Stellar Jade, or about fifteen pulls.

Simulated Universe pays weekly through its points track. Clearing enough runs to fill the weekly point cap yields Stellar Jade alongside Undying Embers and Relic materials, and the first-time clears of each World and each difficulty tier pay large one-off Stellar Jade bundles on top. Divergent Universe works on a comparable weekly-points model. For a mature account these two together are usually the largest recurring non-daily source.

Assignments deserve a note because players over-rate them: they pay Credits, EXP materials and ascension items, not Stellar Jade. They matter for building the characters you pull, not for funding the pulls. The same is true of Echo of War and Calyx farming — that is where your Relic sets, stats and farming routes come from, but it is not Jade income.

One structural point ties these together. Most repeatable Stellar Jade income is gated behind Trailblaze Power or a weekly reset, and both of those scale with your account maturity rather than your play time. Raising your Equilibrium Level increases reward quality across the board and unlocks harder content tiers, which is why a neglected Equilibrium Level quietly caps your Jade income even if you log in religiously.

How much Stellar Jade do Trailblaze Missions and exploration give?

Story and exploration are the largest Stellar Jade sources in the game, but they are finite. A full main-story region typically pays thousands of Stellar Jade across its Trailblaze Missions, and thorough map completion — chests, puzzles, Adventure Missions — often matches or exceeds the story reward for that same region.

This is the part of the economy new and returning players consistently underestimate. An account that has skipped two or three regions of Trailblaze Missions is sitting on a five-figure Stellar Jade reserve it has simply not collected. Before any serious saving plan, the correct first move is to audit unfinished content: incomplete main story chapters, unopened map regions, unclaimed Adventure Missions and untouched puzzle chains.

Exploration income comes in several forms worth naming separately:

• Treasure chests. Basic, Sturdy and Precious chests pay Stellar Jade in ascending amounts. Precious chests are the ones worth hunting deliberately.
• Achievements. The Achievement system pays Stellar Jade by rarity tier — a handful for common achievements, substantially more for rare ones. A completionist pass through the Achievement list on an established account is frequently worth several thousand Stellar Jade.
• Adventure and Companion Missions. Side quests pay Stellar Jade on completion and often unlock further chests or achievements in the same area.
• Trailblaze Level rewards. Levelling the account itself pays Stellar Jade at milestone levels, which is why story progress compounds.

The strategic implication is straightforward: finite sources should be banked, not spent as they arrive. Clearing a new region the week a banner you want is live means that region's Jade arrives exactly when you can use it. Clearing it four months early means it sits in your balance where the temptation to spend it on an off-plan banner is highest.

Do endgame modes like Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction give Stellar Jade?

Yes — Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow all pay Stellar Jade based on stars earned, and they reset on a rotating schedule. For an established roster this is the highest-value repeatable Jade income in the game, and it is the main reason account power translates directly into pull count.

All three modes work on the same principle: stages award stars for clearing under specific conditions, and each star is worth Stellar Jade. Clearing the later floors requires two full teams that can handle different weakness types, which is where roster depth stops being a comfort and starts being currency. The three modes stagger their resets, so a player who clears all of them consistently receives a large Jade payment several times per patch cycle.

Two practical notes. First, first-time clears of newly added floors pay bonus Stellar Jade, so returning after a long break and pushing the new stages is unusually lucrative. Second, these modes rotate their buffs and enemy line-ups each cycle; a team that cleared last rotation may struggle this one. Building around the right Light Cones for your Paths and investing in the Eidolons that genuinely change a kit is what moves an account from partial stars to full clears — and full clears are the difference between a few pulls and a lot of them per cycle.

If you are consistently missing stars on the final floors, the fix is rarely another five-star. It is usually Relic quality, Trace levels and a second sub-DPS who covers a weakness type your main team ignores.

What free Stellar Jade comes from events, livestreams and maintenance?

Event Stellar Jade is the most volatile income stream and one of the largest. Each patch runs limited-time events paying Stellar Jade for participation, HoYoverse publishes three redemption codes during every Special Program livestream, and version maintenance is compensated with Stellar Jade sent by in-game mail.

The recurring sources worth tracking:

• Version events. Every patch ships at least one major event with a Stellar Jade reward track, usually alongside smaller mini-games. These are time-limited and do not carry over — an event missed is Jade permanently lost.
• Special Program codes. The pre-version livestream releases three redemption codes, each typically worth 100 Stellar Jade. They expire within roughly 24 hours of the broadcast, so they need to be redeemed the same day. Codes can be entered in-game or through HoYoLAB.
• Maintenance compensation. Version updates and emergency maintenance are compensated with Stellar Jade by mail. Mail expires, so an inactive account can lose this silently.
• Login events. The Gift of Odyssey style seven-day login campaign returns regularly and pays Star Rail Passes rather than raw Jade — free pulls that do not touch your balance.
• Anniversary and milestone rewards. Large one-off bundles tied to the game's anniversary and download milestones, announced through official channels.

Because event income is time-boxed, it rewards presence rather than skill. A player who logs in for twenty minutes during every event window will out-earn a stronger player who plays intensely but sporadically. If you want a single habit that most improves your pull budget, it is checking the Events tab when a new version drops and noting which reward tracks have deadlines.

How much Stellar Jade can a free player realistically earn per patch?

A consistent free-to-play account that completes Daily Training, clears Simulated Universe weeklies, fully stars the endgame modes and finishes every event typically earns enough for somewhere in the range of 60 to 90 pulls per patch cycle — before counting story or exploration income from new regions.

Breaking that into its parts makes the levers obvious. Daily Training over a six-week cycle is the floor and contributes roughly fifteen pulls. Weekly modes and endgame stars contribute a similar or larger block for a developed account. Events contribute the most variable chunk, and a content-heavy patch with a new region can double the total on its own.

What this means in practice is that a disciplined free player can reasonably guarantee one limited five-star per patch cycle, and can bank toward a hard guarantee on a specific unit roughly every two cycles. That is a genuinely healthy economy by gacha standards, and it is the reason "skip one banner to guarantee the next" is standard advice rather than a sacrifice.

The gap between that ideal and most accounts comes down to three things: incomplete Daily Training, unstarred endgame floors, and missed event deadlines. None of them require spending money to fix. Two of them are fixed by roster depth, which loops back to using your Jade on the right units in the first place.

Account maturity matters here too. A newer account has an enormous one-time reserve waiting in unfinished story and exploration but weak repeatable income, while a veteran account has the opposite profile. If you are evaluating an account's long-term Jade earning potential — your own or one you are considering — the questions are how much story remains unplayed, what the Equilibrium Level is, and whether the roster can full-star the current endgame rotation.

How should you plan and save Stellar Jade for a specific banner?

Work backwards from the guarantee. Decide the character you want, check whether you are on a won or lost 50/50, and set your target at 14,400 Stellar Jade if guaranteed or 28,800 if not. Then stop pulling on anything else until that number is met.

A workable method, in order:

1. Count your true budget. Stellar Jade ÷ 160, plus Star Rail Special Passes on hand. Do not count Star Rail Passes toward a limited banner — those are Standard Warp only.
2. Check your pity state and 50/50 flag. Both are visible in the Warp history and details screen. Your target number is entirely determined by these two facts.
3. Audit uncollected finite income. Unfinished story chapters, unexplored map regions, unclaimed achievements. This is often the difference between "two banners away" and "affordable now."
4. Add projected income to the banner's end date. Daily Training × days remaining, plus any weekly resets that will land before the banner closes.
5. Set a hard floor and respect it. If the projection says you will reach a guarantee but not comfortably, do not spend on Trailblaze Power refills or a Light Cone banner in the meantime.

The most common failure is not overspending on one big decision — it is a slow leak. Ten pulls on a Light Cone banner "because I was close", a few Trailblaze Power refills during a farming event, a handful of pulls on a Standard banner out of boredom. Each is small; together they are frequently the reason an account arrives at hard pity 1,200 Jade short.

One more consideration if you play across regions: your Stellar Jade balance is tied to a single server and does not transfer, so starting fresh elsewhere means starting the economy from zero. The details of how that works are covered in the guide to HSR servers and cross-progression.

What mistakes waste the most Stellar Jade?

The expensive mistakes are repeatable Trailblaze Power refills, pulling on the Standard Warp banner with Special Passes, chasing Light Cone banners without a plan, and letting time-limited event and mail rewards expire. Every one of them is avoidable and none of them require restraint beyond a checklist.

Trailblaze Power refills. The cost escalates within the same day, and Trailblaze Power caps and regenerates on its own. Refilling to finish a Relic domain "one more time" is the single most common Jade leak, and Relic outcomes are random enough that the extra runs rarely change anything.

Misusing Passes. Star Rail Special Passes work on event banners; Star Rail Passes work on the Standard banner. Spending Jade on the Standard banner when you already hold Passes for it is pure waste, and it happens surprisingly often because the two banner types sit side by side.

Unplanned Light Cone pulls. Light Cone banners have their own separate pity and their own 75/25 split. Dipping in "just to see" restarts nothing in your character pity but does empty the balance that character pity depends on.

Expiry. Redemption codes expire within a day. In-game mail expires. Event reward tracks close with the version. None of these send a warning you cannot miss.

Pulling to break a losing streak. Pity is per-banner and carries over between limited banners, so stopping mid-way loses nothing permanently. There is no mechanic that punishes saving, and none that rewards chasing.

Frequently asked questions

Can you buy Stellar Jade directly?

No. Stellar Jade cannot be purchased directly; Oneiric Shard is the purchased currency and converts to Stellar Jade at 1:1. This is why every Stellar Jade figure in the game is best thought of as a pull count rather than a price.

Does Stellar Jade expire?

Stellar Jade in your balance does not expire. The things that expire are the sources — redemption codes, in-game mail containing compensation, and event reward tracks. Once the Jade is in your account it is safe indefinitely.

Is the Express Supply Pass or Nameless Honor worth it for Jade income?

Both are paid products, so they fall outside a free player's plan, but for context: the Express Supply Pass pays a daily Stellar Jade drip that requires logging in to claim, and Nameless Honor's paid track adds Stellar Jade and Passes on top of the free track's materials. Neither changes the free sources described above.

How many pulls should I save before starting a banner?

If you are guaranteed, 90 pulls covers the worst case. If you are on a 50/50, 180 pulls covers it. Most players will finish well before either number, but those are the only two figures that turn a hope into a plan.

Does clearing old story content still pay full Stellar Jade?

Yes. Trailblaze Mission, Adventure Mission, chest and achievement rewards are not reduced by version age, which is why an account with unfinished early regions is effectively holding uncollected currency.
