Genshin Adventure Rank: How to Level Up Faster at Every Stage
By Sir Ayup 13 October 2026, 14:00 WIB
How to level up more in Genshin Impact depends on which "level" you mean. Adventure Rank (AR) rises with Adventure EXP from quests, exploration, Daily Commissions and spending Original Resin, and the fastest route changes as you climb: story and exploration carry the early ranks, while Commissions and Resin carry the late ones. Character level is separate, and taking a character past level 90 toward level 100 uses a different item altogether. This guide covers both.
It explains where Adventure EXP comes from, what to focus on at each stage of AR, the Ascension Quests that pause your progress, and how characters reach level 95 and 100.
How Adventure Rank Works

Adventure Rank is your account level. It goes up to AR 60, and raising it does three main things:
- Unlocks content, including story quests, Domains, Daily Commissions and co-op.
- Raises your World Level, which makes enemies stronger but improves the quality of drops from bosses, Domains and Ley Line Outcrops.
- Gives rewards at each rank, claimed from Katheryne at the Adventurers' Guild, including Primogems and Fates.
Once you reach AR 60, extra Adventure EXP turns into Mora instead.
Where Adventure EXP Comes From

Almost everything you do gives some Adventure EXP, but a few sources matter far more than the rest:
- Archon and World Quests. Large one-time rewards, especially for the main story. They are the biggest source early on but run out eventually.
- Daily Commissions. Four short tasks each day, plus a 500 EXP bonus for claiming the reward from Katheryne after finishing all four. This is the most reliable source in the mid and late game.
- Original Resin. Spending Resin on Domains, bosses and Ley Line Outcrops gives Adventure EXP, at roughly 100 EXP for every 20 Resin. Wasting Resin by letting it cap means wasting EXP.
- Exploration. Waypoints, Domains you discover, treasure chests, puzzles and oculi offered at the Statues of the Seven all give EXP. Region reputation and offering systems, such as the Frostbearing Tree in Dragonspine or the Sacred Sakura in Inazuma, add more.
- Adventurer's Handbook. Early-game missions that give EXP and other rewards as you complete them.
AR 1 to 20: Follow the Story

The first ranks go quickly if you follow the main story:
- Do Archon Quests as they unlock. They give big chunks of EXP and open the map.
- Unlock every waypoint and Statue of the Seven you pass. Each one gives EXP and makes travel easier.
- Open chests along the way. Each one gives only a little EXP, but there are hundreds of them, and they also hold Primogems.
- Finish the Adventurer's Handbook chapters.
Daily Commissions unlock at AR 12, and from then on, finishing them every day is the easiest habit you can build.
AR 20 to 35: Build Habits and Spend Resin

At this stage, story EXP slows down and two habits take over:
- Do all four Daily Commissions and claim the bonus every day.
- Spend all your Original Resin. Use it on talent books, weapon materials or Ley Lines for Mora and character EXP. You need these materials anyway, and the Adventure EXP comes as a bonus.
This is also the time to start World Quests in each region and to explore properly. The extra EXP is useful, and the Primogems from chests fund your wishes.
Ascension Quests and World Level

From here, the game asks you to prove you are ready for harder content. At certain ranks, your AR stops rising until you complete an Ascension Quest, a short challenge that raises your World Level. These happen at AR 25, 35, 45 and 50.
A few tips for getting through them:
- Clear Ascension Quests as soon as they appear, because your rank cannot rise until you do.
- Build a solid team before each one. Higher World Levels make enemies hit harder. Knowing which elemental reactions hold a team together makes the jump much easier.
- Start Spiral Abyss once it unlocks, since its early floors give Primogems and a good test of your team. A clear plan for your first 36 stars in the Abyss helps here.
AR 45 to 60: The Slow Climb

The last ranks are the slowest, because each one needs much more EXP and the one-time sources are mostly used up. At this point, AR becomes a result of steady daily play:
- Daily Commissions every day, without exception.
- All of your Original Resin, every day. Spend it on artifact Domains, which are the main long-term goal at high AR, and use it efficiently so nothing goes to waste.
- New content as it arrives. Each version adds story quests, World Quests and new areas, all of which give a burst of EXP.
- Events. Many events include Adventure EXP alongside their other rewards.
There is no shortcut through the late ranks. The players who reach AR 60 fastest are the ones who never skip a day of Commissions or let Resin cap.
Common Mistakes That Slow Your Adventure Rank
- Letting Original Resin cap. Resin stops regenerating at its maximum, so any time spent capped is EXP lost.
- Skipping Commissions on busy days. They take only a few minutes and add up over weeks.
- Ignoring Ascension Quests. Your rank stays stuck until you clear them, however much you play.
- Saving exploration for later. Chests and waypoints give EXP now, and Primogems you can use straight away.
Character Level 90, 95 and 100
Separate from your Adventure Rank, each character has their own level. Levels 1 to 90 use character EXP materials, Mora and ascension materials as usual. Since version Luna I, characters can go further:
- One Masterless Stella Fortuna raises a character's level cap from 90 to 95.
- Two more raise it from 95 to 100, so one character needs three in total.
Masterless Stella Fortuna is not a normal drop. You receive it when you pull a 5-star character whose constellations are already maxed out, and events can occasionally provide extra Stella Fortuna too. That makes level 100 a long-term goal, best saved for a main DPS or a character you use in every team. Because it depends on pulling extra copies, knowing how pity and the 50/50 work helps you plan for it.
Keeping Up When You Are Short on Time
AR and character progress both reward consistency more than long sessions. If daily play is hard to fit in, Genshin Impact Accounts with a higher AR and built characters are one way to skip the early climb, Genshin Impact Hourly Services can keep your Commissions, Resin and exploration going on days you cannot log in, and Genshin Impact Boosting can push through specific goals such as Spiral Abyss.
