Blood Strike Blood Strike Vector Polarity EVO Skin: Dates and W news image

The new EVO-tier weapon skin Vector - Polarity launches on 21 August and stays available until 1 October — a six-week window, which is unusually long by Blood Strike standards. NetEase's own framing points at the theme: day and night shine as one, the world stretches boundless, and all things glow with brilliance. Polarity is built around light-and-dark duality, and the preview art shows the weapon in contrasting finishes. But the more useful thing to know before you spend is a scheduling collision: the EVO Return Featured Valor closes on 27 August, six weeks before Polarity does. If your Gold is limited, that's the one with the real deadline. Here's the full picture.

The dates

  • Vector - Polarity: 21 August – 1 October
  • EVO Return: Featured Valor: 16 – 27 August

Both are EVO-tier content, both draw on the same Gold balance, and they overlap for seven days — from the 21st to the 27th.

What EVO tier actually means

EVO is Blood Strike's upgradeable weapon skin tier. Unlike a Legendary or Ultra skin that arrives finished, an EVO skin levels up, unlocking additional visual stages, effects and animations as you progress it.

EVO skins are obtained through Valor draw pools rather than direct purchase, which means your cost is variable rather than fixed. The first EVO melee skin, Pivot, debuted through the Pivot Valor in January — the format has been consistent since.

Two costs, not one. Acquiring the skin is the first spend; upgrading it through its levels is the second, and historically the larger. Budget for the whole path rather than the pull.

The Vector just got buffed

Worth connecting, because the timing isn't accidental.

The 11 August balance patch increased the Vector's hip fire accuracy — a direct buff to a weapon whose entire identity is close-range aggression. Ten days later, its EVO skin arrives.

That doesn't make the skin functional — EVO skins are cosmetic and don't change weapon statistics. But it does mean the Vector is in a better place in the meta than it was two weeks ago, which is a more sensible time to invest in a skin for it than during a period when the gun sat unused.

If you were already running the Vector, the buff is a reason to keep doing so. If you weren't, the buff is worth testing before you commit Gold to dressing up a weapon you don't play.

Which to spend on first

Here's the practical decision if your Gold won't cover both.

EVO Return: Featured Valor closes 27 August. It brings back three previously released EVO weapons — a second chance for anyone who missed them, and the word Return is doing important work there. These have come back once, which weakens the "gone forever" pressure, but there's no schedule guaranteeing a third appearance.

Vector - Polarity runs to 1 October. Six weeks. There is no reason to buy it in August.

So: if one of the returning EVO weapons is on your list, prioritise it before the 27th. Polarity will still be there in September, and by then you'll have a clearer read on how the Vector performs post-buff.

Is it worth chasing?

Framed honestly, because EVO tier is the most expensive cosmetic bracket in the game.

Yes, if the Vector is in your loadout. An upgradeable skin on a weapon you fire thousands of rounds through is the one place cosmetic spending gets used. The recent hip fire buff strengthens that case.

Yes, if you collect EVO skins. They're the game's top cosmetic tier, and the upgrade path gives them longer-term engagement than a static Legendary.

No, if you're an SMG player who prefers the MP7 or P90. Both sit at the top of the current SMG meta, and an EVO skin doesn't change which weapon wins fights. A beautiful Vector in your stash while you play something else is the most common EVO regret.

And remember it's purely visual. Blood Strike's skins carry no stat advantage, so this is a spending decision about how your gun looks, not how it shoots.

What else is competing for your Gold

August is dense, and Polarity is one of eight cosmetic drops:

  • 14 August – 24 September — Eternal VOLT: Mantra
  • 15 August – 14 September — Urban Pulse Strike Pass, with a full 520 Gold refund at max level
  • 16 – 27 August — EVO Return: Featured Valor
  • 21 August – 1 October — EVO Vector: Polarity
  • 24 August – 11 October — Eternal M82: Noxdra and GALIL: Noxdra
  • 28 August – 1 September — Katya's Refinement Coin Shop
  • 28 August – 8 October — Eternal KAG-6: Star Chaser and UZI: Star Chaser
  • 30 August — Ultra P90: Phantomrift and Origin-12: Thunderclaw enter the Phantomrift Stash

The Strike Pass deserves a mention here. A full 520 Gold refund at max level makes it effectively free if you complete it — which arguably makes it the first thing to buy, not the last, since it returns the currency you'd spend elsewhere.

Our August patch calendar covers every drop and its deadline in full, and our balance breakdown covers the weapon changes that shifted the SMG meta this month.

Before you spend

  1. Play the Vector post-buff before committing to its skin. Four days is enough to know whether it belongs in your loadout.
  2. Clear the Featured Valor decision first — it closes 27 August, Polarity doesn't.
  3. Consider the Strike Pass first, since completing it refunds its own cost in Gold.
  4. Budget for the upgrade path, not just the draw.
  5. Don't rush. Six weeks is a long window, and a September decision costs you nothing.

Gear up before the window closes
