ZZZ Area Patrol Double Rewards: Sept 23 Farming Guide
By Sir Ayup 22 September 2026, 04:00 WIB
Zenless Zone Zero's Advanced Bounty: Area Patrol event runs from 23 September 04:00 to 28 September 03:59 (server time), and for five days every Area Patrol stage you clear pays double rewards. Area Patrol is the game's main Drive Disc source, so this is the cheapest week of Version 3.2 to fix a build — every Battery Charge you spend is worth twice what it is the rest of the version. Two stages also receive a combat buff each day, rotating at 04:00. Here is what the event does, how much you can realistically farm, and how to arrive on the 23rd with the most Battery possible.
What the event does
The rules are short:
- Double rewards on every Area Patrol stage. Clear any stage during the window and you receive twice the normal drops. There is no list of eligible stages — all of them count.
- Two buffed challenges per day. Each day, two Area Patrol challenges get a combat buff that makes them faster to clear. The pair changes at the 04:00 server reset.
- Requirements: Inter-Knot Level 21, the Inter-Knot Reputation rank-up mission "Path of the Proxy I" completed, and Area Patrol unlocked. If you are close to level 21, reach it before the 23rd — the event does not wait for you.
For newer players: Area Patrol is the mode formerly called Routine Cleanup. HoYoverse renamed it without changing how it works, so older guides that say "Routine Cleanup" are talking about the same stages.
The double applies to the rewards, not to the cost. A run costs the same 60 Battery Charge it always does, which is exactly why the event is worth planning around.
How much you can actually farm
Battery is the limit, so the maths is worth doing once.
Battery regenerates at roughly 240 per day — one full bar — and every Area Patrol run costs 60. That gives:
- 4 runs per day from natural regeneration
- 20 runs across the five-day window
- 40 runs' worth of drops, because each one pays double
On top of that sits whatever you bring in: stored Ether Batteries, the Battery-restore item, spend at 60 Charge each, and every one used during the window is a run that also pays double. The Surprise Screening Plan check-in event opens on the same day, 23 September, and its rewards include Ether Batteries alongside Polychromes and a free Angels of Delusion outfit of your choice — log in on the 23rd and those batteries go straight into the event.
That is the whole calculation. Anything you spend on Area Patrol outside this window is worth half as much, which drives the only real preparation step.
Arrive on the 23rd with a full bar
The Battery bar caps at one day's regeneration. Two consequences follow:
- You can't bank natural Battery beyond the cap. Stop spending Battery about 24 hours before the event opens — roughly the 22 September reset — so the bar is full at 04:00 on the 23rd and nothing overflows.
- Save Ether Batteries now. Unlike the bar, the item stacks. Any you would have used this week are worth double if you hold them until the 23rd.
During the event, log in at least twice a day. A full bar left alone for more than a day starts wasting regeneration, and wasted Battery during a double-drop week costs you twice.
Which stages to run
The event makes every stage worth double, so the choice comes down to which Drive Disc sets you need, not which stages are boosted.
- Farm the set your team is missing first. Double drops on a set you don't use are still worthless. Look at the Agents you actually field in Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault and start with whichever one is furthest from a complete set.
- Use the buffed stages when they line up. If one of the day's two buffed challenges drops a set you need, run it — the buff makes each clear faster. If neither buffed stage matches your needs, ignore the buff and run the stage you need. The buff saves time; the double saves Battery, and Battery is the constraint.
- Run the difficulty you can clear reliably and quickly. A failed or slow run in a five-day window costs more than it earns. Use your highest comfortable level rather than your highest possible one.
- Keep an eye on the 04:00 rotation. The buffed pair changes daily, so a set that wasn't convenient on day one may be on day three.
The other resource-heavy step in the version comes later: Data Bounty – Combat Simulation, from 14 to 19 October, doubles Agent and W-Engine material drops. That is the week to level Agents and weapons. Spending the Area Patrol week on Drive Discs and the October week on levelling materials means neither resource is farmed at half value.
Timing against the 3.2 banners
The event lands in the last week of Version 3.2's first phase. Claret's banner runs to 30 September, and Roxy's opens the same day, running to 20 October; our Version 3.2 overview covers both Agents and the new Armorer Specialty.
That timing gives you two sensible uses for the week:
- You pulled Claret. Build her now. The double week falls while her banner is still live, so she can be finished in time to judge whether a second copy or her W-Engine is worth it.
- You're planning to pull Roxy. If you know the sets she'll want, farming them now means she's playable on the day you get her, not ten days later. If you don't, farm for your existing core — a stronger bench is never wasted.
Further out, HoYoverse has confirmed Severian for Version 3.3 as an S-Rank Wind Attack Agent; our Severian kit breakdown separates what is confirmed from what is datamined. If he is on your list, spare Drive Discs with strong attack-focused substats are worth keeping rather than dismantling.
Double-reward Area Patrol events have been appearing roughly once per version — the last Area Patrol bonus was a triple-reward run in August — so missing this one isn't permanent, but the next may be several weeks away.
Before 23 September
- Reach Inter-Knot Level 21 and complete "Path of the Proxy I" if you haven't.
- Stop spending Battery around the 22 September reset so the bar is full at 04:00 on the 23rd.
- Hold your Ether Batteries until the event is live.
- Pick your target sets so you're not deciding on the first morning.
- Plan two log-ins a day from the 23rd to the 28th.
With Battery managed, five days is enough to make a real difference to one or two Agents. If Polychrome planning for Roxy and Severian is also on your mind, our F2P Polychrome guide lays out where every free pull in a version comes from.
