ZZZ Severian Kit Leaks: A Dodge Built Into His Basic Attack
By Rivan Wi 15 September 2026, 10:00 WIB
HoYoverse confirmed Severian Lowell on 12 September — an S-Rank Wind Attack Agent arriving in Version 3.3, and the first Agent in Zenless Zone Zero to wield a giant sword.
Beta datamines point at something more interesting than the weapon. His Basic Attack contains a dodge — attack at the right moment and he evades the incoming hit without leaving his attack string.
For an Attack Agent, not having to stop hitting things in order to survive is worth more than most damage buffs. Here's the split between confirmed and datamined.
The short version
- Officially confirmed: S-Rank, Wind, Attack, Metropolitan Order Division. Version 3.3.
- Banner details and abilities have not been officially announced.
- Beta datamines show a dodge built into his Basic Attack string, [Wind Rider] stacks that jump from +60% to +300%, and a Quick Assist entry.
- Krampus's own file on him warns against engaging — in bold red text, three times over.
- Version 3.3 is expected around 21 October — a community estimate, not an announcement.
What HoYoverse confirmed
The Agent Record published on 12 September establishes:
- Severian Lowell, S-Rank
- Attribute: Wind. Specialty: Attack.
- Faction: Metropolitan Order Division, New Eridu Public Security
- Debuting in Version 3.3
He's Seth Lowell's older brother and a Senior Commissioner at NEPS HQ, heading the Metropolitan Order Division with Cissia among its members. He's a cat thiren with long grey hair.
He was teased as far back as Version 1.1 through dialogue between Phaethon and Seth, then appeared as a commission-exclusive NPC in Version 2.6 as Cissia's boss. His playable model has changed noticeably since, particularly the outfit.
And there's one detail from the Agent Record worth quoting for what it implies. Krampus's own file on Severian states they should avoid conflict with him — emphasised three separate times, in bold red text, at the largest font size in the document.
Krampus is the organisation Phoenix Reffaella belongs to, and Phoenix is described as unbeatable by anyone in it except her boss. A warning that emphatic from that source is a meaningful piece of characterisation.
The beta kit
Everything below comes from datamined Test 1 builds, not from HoYoverse. The official ZZZ wiki prohibits datamined content outright. Version 3.3 is roughly five weeks away, and ZZZ routinely adjusts values between test builds and release.
Core passive (beta):
- CRIT DMG increased by 60%.
- When Severian launches [Basic Attack: Swift Edge] at the moment an enemy attack is about to land, he dodges that attack.
- If the dodge occurs during the first three Basic Attack hits, [Basic Attack: Fierce Whirl] is automatically triggered.
[Wind Rider] stacks (beta):
- Consuming 1 stack increases the final hit's DMG Multiplier by a fixed 60%.
- Consuming 2 stacks increases it by a fixed 300%.
[Flow Breath] (beta):
- Gained by hitting an enemy with a fixed skill or by triggering a Perfect Dodge.
- Maximum 150 points.
Skills (beta):
- Basic Attack — slashes and thrusts forward, dealing Wind DMG.
- Defensive Assist follow-up — a sequence of Slash, claw strike and cannon blast. Invulnerable throughout.
- EX Special — a combo of Slash, claw and cannon strikes for heavy Wind DMG, granting 1 stack of [Flicker]. Hold to keep consuming Energy before the cannon strike, launching wind blades. At maximum Energy Cost, gain an additional stack of [Shimmer]. Invulnerable throughout.
- Ultimate — at maximum Decibel Rating, multiple rapid slashes for heavy Wind DMG, accumulating 100 points of [Flow Breath]. Invulnerable throughout.
- [Riding the Wind] — while the effect is active and he's in combat, switching him from off-field to on-field launches a powerful forward slash. This counts as a [Quick Assist], and he's invulnerable during it.
The dodge is the part that matters
Most Attack Agents in Zenless Zone Zero face the same tension: every dodge is damage you didn't deal. Perfect Dodges are rewarded, but they interrupt your string, and the recovery costs uptime.
Severian's passive removes that trade — conditionally.
Attacking at the right moment is the dodge. You don't cancel into a defensive input; the Basic Attack itself evades the incoming hit. And if you land it within the first three hits of the string, you get a free [Fierce Whirl] on top.
Three things follow from that, if it survives to release:
His damage uptime should be unusually high for an Attack Agent, because the defensive answer and the offensive action are the same input.
He rewards enemy pattern knowledge rather than reaction speed. Timing an attack into an incoming hit requires knowing when the hit is coming — which is a learnable skill rather than a reflex one.
And it feeds [Flow Breath], since Perfect Dodges generate it. A kit where surviving well also builds your resource is a tighter loop than most.
The stack jump is the skill ceiling
One [Wind Rider] stack gives +60%. Two give +300%.
That's a fivefold increase for a single additional stack — not a linear scale. It means holding for the second stack is almost always correct, and the whole rotation becomes a question of whether you can reach two stacks before the window to use them closes.
That's where the difference between a competent Severian and a good one will sit. Players who spend at one stack get a fraction of his damage; players who bank to two get the payoff the kit was designed around.
Treat the specific numbers as provisional. A 60-to-300 jump is exactly the kind of value that gets smoothed in balance passes.
The signature W-Engine
From the same Test 1 data:
- 713 Base ATK, 24% CRIT Rate
- Increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 24%
- When the wearer's Basic Attack hits an enemy: ATK +15%, and damage ignores 20% of the target's Wind RES for 20 seconds
Wind RES penetration is the notable line. It's a stat most W-Engines don't touch, and it stacks multiplicatively with the raw CRIT the engine also provides — which suits a kit already sitting on a base 60% CRIT DMG passive.
Note that it triggers on Basic Attack hits, reinforcing the same loop as his dodge passive. The engine and the kit both push you toward staying in the attack string.
What isn't known
- Version 3.3's release date. The 21 October figure comes from a 42-day cycle count.
- Banner order. Phoenix in Phase 1 and Severian in Phase 2 is a leak-based expectation.
- Mindscape Cinema effects.
- Final values for everything above.
- Rerun Agents, with Banyue and Cissia named in leaks.
What to do
Don't pre-farm materials yet. Promotion and skill materials for an unreleased Agent are guesswork until the kit is official.
Bank Polychrome through 3.2. Two S-Ranks arriving in one version, with reruns alongside them, is a version worth saving for.
Wait for the 3.3 Special Program. That's when the date locks and the kit becomes official.
Treat the dodge passive as the thing to verify first. It's the mechanic that would define him — and the one most worth confirming before you build a pull plan around it.
Building the Wind core
An Attack Agent with high uptime only pays off on a team built to support it — and Drive Discs, W-Engines and Skill levels are the slow half of Zenless Zone Zero, not the pulling. Browse verified Zenless Zone Zero accounts if you'd rather reach 3.3 with a Wind core already established, keep dailies and Polychrome income moving with Zenless Zone Zero hourly services, or push Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault clears through Zenless Zone Zero boosting while 3.2 runs.
