Watcher of Realms Patch Notes 21 September: Everything New Now Live
By Michael Pras 21 September 2026, 12:00 WIB
Watcher of Realms' 21 September update is live after a three-hour maintenance (17:00–20:00 UTC-8, with 400 Diamonds in compensation mail), and it does two things the teasers only hinted at. It starts building The Grey Blades, the Sync-based faction Moonton announced last week, by moving two existing heroes — Ruen Hollow and Corven — into it and converting their skills to the new Sync type. And it adds a weekly Guild Boss Challenge, The Fallen Covenant, in beta. Around those sit a full rework of Rivenhald, buffs to Solcadens and Talula, a new Guild War season with a fixed Gladiator's Gauntlet schedule, the Arena's Forerunners' Season from 5 October, Veyrathia joining the permanent summon pool, and a batch of quality-of-life changes. Here is every section of the notes, in order of what matters most.
The Fallen Covenant: a new weekly Guild Boss (Beta)
The headline mode is a Weekly Guild Boss Challenge called The Fallen Covenant – Normal, released in beta.
- Unlock: your Guild must defeat Sauryan Grimmscale in Drake's Chasm – Abyss I.
- Format: one challenge per week, scores recorded. You bring two teams with up to 20 heroes combined.
- Stages: three bosses across two arenas — The Fallen Covenant in the Ritual Altar, then Ramiel and Roderic in the Realm of Sorrow.
- Rewards: total damage dealt across all three bosses converts into Rotted Essences, which set the tier of your reward chests.
The twenty-hero format is the point. Most of the game's content asks for one strong team; this asks for two, and the damage-to-chest conversion means a deep bench that can field a second real team out-earns a roster with five maxed heroes and nothing behind them. That same depth is what the new faction rewards, which is the next section.
The Grey Blades begin: Ruen Hollow and Corven go Sync
Last week's Grey Blades teaser described a faction built on Sync — chained skill triggers, range-independent coordination, bonus damage on enemies inside teammates' range — without naming a hero. This patch names two, and both are heroes players already own.
Ruen Hollow, Fortune's Shadow is added to the Grey Blades faction, and her kit is converted rather than replaced:
- Her Phantom Arrow — the Ultimate Talent shot she fires whenever another allied Marksman uses their Ultimate (360% AoE damage to the target and up to four enemies around it, 25% DEF Reduction for 8 seconds) — is now a Phantom Arrow Sync. The numbers are unchanged; the type is what matters.
- Bone Volley, her Ultimate, keeps its twenty Twinstrike Bolts and its invisibility rules, and now also inflicts Bounty for 8 seconds on the enemy with the highest current HP in her Basic ATK range.
- Veiled Strike's Phantom Arrow, fired every 6/6/6/6/4 Twinstrike Bolts, is likewise now a Sync attack.
Corven, The Gilded Gentleman joins the same faction with heavier changes:
- Aimed Shot now triggers immediately on deployment, its cooldown drops from 20 to 18 seconds, and it becomes Sync.
- Ricochet Round fires faster (ATK interval 8 → 6 seconds), hits harder (170% → 200%), becomes Sync, and can trigger Sync on any target carrying Bounty.
- Craftsman's Spirit starts with 700 Initial Rage instead of 500, inflicts Bounty on the highest-HP enemy on the field when cast, lasts 5 seconds longer, and lets his Basic ATK ignore 30% DEF for the skill's duration.
The mechanic tying it together is Bounty: a mark that increases the bearer's Sync damage taken by 30%. Both heroes apply it to the highest-HP enemy, both have Sync attacks that punish it, and Corven's Ricochet Round explicitly chains off it. That is the faction's loop in miniature — one hero marks, every Sync attack on the field collects — and it answers the "how is Sync counted" question the teaser left open: at least for these two, Sync is a skill type, and Bounty is the multiplier.
For players, the practical read is that a Ruen Hollow and Corven pairing is now the first playable Grey Blades core, before a single new hero has been released. The notes' skill text for both runs longer than the excerpt above; the in-game hero pages carry the full before-and-after.
Hero reworks: Rivenhald rebuilt, Solcadens and Talula up
Rivenhald, The Hornbound Sovereign gets the deepest rework in the patch:
- Northern Resolve (Lord Skill) still stacks up to five times on faction members for every adjacent ally that gains a shield, but the stack's effect changes from "extra damage equal to 2% of the hero's HP" to +3% damage dealt and −3% damage taken per stack. That trades a flat HP-scaled bonus for a two-way percentage, which favours heroes whose value is surviving rather than hitting.
- Awakened III switches Rage Regen from a percentage (15% per ally in Basic ATK range, up to 75%) to a flat +1 automatic Rage Regen per ally, up to +5 — a change that behaves very differently at high Rage totals.
- Awakened V doubles the ATK-based healing granted when a Frozen Crown shield breaks, from 50% to 100% of Rivenhald's Basic ATK.
Solcadens, Hellfire Emperor gets two straight buffs: the Feast of Devastation Lord Skill bonus against shielded targets rises from 40% to 50%, and the Pyro Blitz bounce in his Hell Breaks Loose Ultimate jumps from 40% to 100% damage.
Talula, The Holly Blue keeps the structure of Butterfly Waltz and Forest Spirit — HP restored every 2 seconds, scaled by stacks, with 10% Damage Reduction per stack — and adds one rule to both: during her Ultimate, the trigger interval drops to 1 second, doubling her healing output for the Ultimate's duration.
Vlad Draculea, The Impaler is a targeting fix rather than a number change: Brutal Suppression now uses Basic ATK when the target is inside Basic ATK range but outside counterattack range, and switches to counterattacks once the target closes.
Rivenhald owners should re-check any auto-fight record he appears in; the notes warn that adjusted heroes can change auto-fight results, and a Lord Skill this different will.
Fixes and small changes
- Ezio Auditore — fixed a case where he could not use his Ultimate during a Counterattack Assassinate. Our Assassin's Creed collaboration preview covers how that Assassinate loop is meant to work.
- Gu Shi — gains the Dual-Target ATK hero tag, which matters for any content that filters by tag.
- Kassandra — Auto-Cast now respects your Ultimate settings instead of always firing at 10 Spartan Resolve stacks.
- Sythra — Tormented Soul now summons when auto-cast with no enemies in range.
- Praetus — fixed abnormal attributes when deployed after the Supreme Arbiters' Lord Skill triggers.
- New notification — an in-combat prompt now appears when a hero cannot cast their Ultimate because of a condition, which removes a lot of guesswork in auto-battle.
Guild War S16 and the Gladiator's Gauntlet schedule
Guild War Season 16 starts with updated Central Keep and Defense Towers maps, a new season theme, and fresh Avatar Border and Emote rewards. Two Demon Soldiers arrive: Deformed Dweller, earned from Guild War, cannot attack but sprints briefly at low HP to break enemy lines; Doomripper is added to the Mystery Demon Chest. Attack Codes are improved — you can save 10 now, and an unshared winning result generates a code automatically.
The Gladiator's Gauntlet season is dated for both server groups:
- Server Group 5: 12–24 October — preparation 12–15, battle 16–23, calculation 24.
- Server Group 6: 12–22 October — preparation 12–15, battle 16–21, calculation 22.
A Gladiator's Gauntlet Sand Box runs alongside the season for testing setups without a live result.
Arena, Crusade and Gauntlet adjustments
- Forerunners' Season in the Arena starts 5 October after Realm Champion Season ends, and runs to 15 November, 23:59:59 (UTC-8) — a re-timing to fix season pacing.
- Demonic Crusade Challenge III has had some defending heroes swapped to lower its difficulty.
- Honor's Gauntlet reward requirements drop from 5/10/15 to 4/8/12 wins and total matches.
Summoning and store changes from 22 September
- Veyrathia, the Epic Nightmare Lord, joins Ancient Summoning as a permanent hero from 22 September (UTC-8).
- The First Top-up Bundle Eona's Gift is removed at 00:00 on 22 September; anyone who has not bought it by then cannot. It is replaced by Veyrathia's Gift, purchasable once per player.
- The Rate-Up Epic in Beginner Sage's Invocation changes from Selkath to Greed.
If Eona's Gift was on your list, the deadline is the end of today.
Quality of life
- Variant Gems used on Variant Gear with Unrivaled Power now revert the affected attributes to their original values (decimals rounded up), fixing a long-standing stat-loss complaint.
- Security Lock binding now also binds your login email if you have not done so — a small change that closes the most common route to losing an account.
- The Event Calendar gets separate tabs for events and summoning, and some Event Hall tabs gain countdown timers and completion indicators, with more events to follow.
- Odyssey quest descriptions are clarified, and a bug hiding other Commanders' best records in Guild chat profiles is fixed.
What to do today
- Buy or skip Eona's Gift before 00:00 UTC-8.
- Re-run any auto-fight records that include Rivenhald, Corven, Ruen Hollow, Talula or Solcadens.
- Check Sauryan Grimmscale — if your Guild has not cleared Abyss I, that is the gate to the new Guild Boss.
- Bind Security Lock if you have not; the email binding now comes with it.
- Pair Ruen Hollow and Corven in a test team to feel the Bounty-to-Sync loop before the faction's new heroes arrive. If either is sitting at max level with nothing to spend on, our Hero Aspects explainer covers whether an Aspect change makes sense for a hero whose faction just moved.
