Fortnite September 3 Update: New Sprites, Overrides & Loot Hacks
By Sir Ayup 2 September 2026, 22:00 WIBFortnite’s next Chapter 7 Season 4: Override content drop is shaping up around three areas: new Sprites, five additional Match Overrides, and another round of Loot Hack options. Epic has officially confirmed that five new Overrides are coming this week and that X-Ray Sprite and Onigiri Sprite will be the first two Design-A-Sprite contest winners to join the game. Current update material places the Sprite drop on September 3, while the full patch notes and exact maintenance timing are still pending.
That distinction matters.
The content itself is real. Not every detail attached to it is final.
For players preparing for the September 3 drop, the useful questions are which parts are already confirmed, which systems are expanding, and which details should still be treated as pre-update information.
What is coming in the September 3 Fortnite update?
The current September 3 content lineup includes:
-
new Sprites
-
the first two community-designed Sprite winners
-
five new Match Overrides
-
additional Loot Hack choices
-
at least one new Fortnite-original Sprite alongside the community designs
Epic has already confirmed the five new Overrides and the arrival of X-Ray and Onigiri this week. The exact names and mechanics for every new Override have not all been published through Epic’s full update notes yet.
That makes this a content preview, not a completed patch-note breakdown.
When does the September 3 content arrive?
Current update reporting places the new Sprites on Thursday, September 3, with availability around the daily Sprite reset at approximately 9:00 AM ET, which converts to around 20:00 WIB.
That should not be confused with a confirmed downtime window.
Epic has not yet published a full September 3 Battle Royale maintenance schedule in the official Fortnite news feed. The latest full Battle Royale season notes remain the August 20 Override launch notes.
So players should separate:
-
content availability
-
server maintenance
-
patch download timing
until Epic publishes the final update communication.
X-Ray Sprite is one of the first community winners
The X-Ray Sprite, designed by Avila215, is one of the five official winners from Fortnite’s Design-A-Sprite contest.
Epic originally announced that the five winning community designs would be introduced through mid-season updates rather than all arriving at once. X-Ray is now part of the first wave.
The original concept centers on an information-oriented effect related to spotting opponents through structures or objects, but Epic has not yet published the final in-game ability text.
That means players should not assume the concept version will transfer into Battle Royale unchanged.
The visual design is confirmed.
The final gameplay implementation still needs the live update or official ability description.
Onigiri replaces Bullet Sprite
The second community Sprite in this wave is Onigiri Sprite, designed by Enorull.
This is notable because Onigiri was not originally listed among the five winners.
Epic updated its official winner list on August 31, replacing Enorull’s Bullet Sprite with the creator’s Onigiri Sprite instead. The other four contest winners remain unchanged.
The current official list is:
-
Onigiri Sprite — Enorull
-
Dumpster Dive Sprite — StinkyPrincessGoose
-
Honey Sprite — Conejito_sam
-
Pond Sprite — Pine & Kiri
-
X-Ray Sprite — Avila215
Only X-Ray and Onigiri are part of this first announced wave.
The remaining winners are scheduled for later in the season.
A third new Sprite is also expected
Current September 3 preview material shows a third new Sprite alongside X-Ray and Onigiri.
Its appearance has been described as knight-themed, but Epic has not yet provided a confirmed official name or ability description in the sources currently available.
For that reason, it is better to treat it simply as:
a new Fortnite-original Sprite
until Epic names it.
Calling it “Knight Sprite” as though that were the official name would be premature.
Five new Match Overrides are coming
The other major September addition is a new wave of five Match Overrides.
Epic has directly confirmed the number.
Match Overrides are the season-wide rule modifiers introduced with Chapter 7 Season 4. Players activate them through Override Consoles, and their effects can change movement, loot, healing, damage, respawns, and other match rules.
The launch version already includes effects such as:
-
Sonic Speed
-
More XP
-
Loot Hack
-
Extra Life
-
Big Fish
-
Constant Heal
-
Infinite Stamina
-
Headshot
-
Overshield
-
Speed Shooter
-
Big Loot
-
Power Pickaxe
Epic’s launch notes explain that standard Overrides can affect the entire server, while some Rare and Mythic Squad Overrides only benefit the first squad that claims them.
GameMarket’s existing Fortnite Match Overrides Guide covers those launch effects and how the console system works.
Big Heads and Prop Hunt are the two Overrides to watch
Current pre-update material identifies Big Heads and Prop Hunt among the upcoming Overrides.
Those names suggest a much more playful direction than simple numerical buffs like Infinite Stamina or Increased Headshot Damage.
Big Heads
The name suggests a rule change affecting player head size or hit presentation.
Until Epic publishes the actual effect, it would be a mistake to assume whether this changes:
-
hitboxes
-
only visual appearance
-
headshot difficulty
-
damage rules
Those details need the live description.
Prop Hunt
Prop Hunt is potentially even more disruptive.
Fortnite already has a long history of prop-based mechanics, but the exact Override version could work very differently from Creative or limited-mode Prop Hunt experiences.
The important point is that Prop Hunt is expected as a Match Override, not as a separate permanent BR mode.
The other three new Override names should be left unlisted until Epic confirms them.
Loot Hacks are also expanding
The September content drop also appears to expand Loot Hacks.
Loot Hacks are different from normal unvaults.
Epic’s official Override notes explain that players spend Sprite Dust to configure bonus items that can appear from Chests specifically for them. The system can be reset and reconfigured using more Sprite Dust.
That means a Loot Hack item is not automatically part of the universal ground-loot pool.
It is a personalized Chest-drop option attached to your Override progression.
Current update material points to additions including items such as:
-
Rocket Ram
-
a gold consumable
-
Tracking Visor
-
Holo Twister
-
Deadeye AR
-
Wrecker Revolver
-
additional options still to be confirmed
Pre-update material initially showed a Striker Burst reference, but Fortnite later issued a correction saying the item is actually the Wrecker Revolver.
That correction is a good example of why the September lineup should still be treated as a preview until the final update notes arrive.
Why Loot Hacks matter more than a normal unvault
A normal unvault changes what everybody can potentially find.
A Loot Hack changes what your Chest loot can contain based on how you configure the system.
That creates a different kind of decision.
Players are not only asking whether an item is strong.
They also need to ask whether spending Sprite Dust to add that item to their Chest pool is better than using the slot for something else.
For example:
-
mobility-focused players may value Rocket Ram
-
ranged players may prefer a rifle option
-
utility players may prioritize tracking tools
-
players with strong conventional loadouts may prefer niche items less often
This is why Loot Hack additions should be evaluated as account or playstyle choices rather than universal best picks.
How this fits into Override
Chapter 7 Season 4 already built its identity around several different “hack” systems.
They are easy to confuse:
Lobby Hacks
Codes entered from the Battle Royale lobby that can grant rewards such as XP or Sprite Dust.
Loot Hacks
Sprite Dust-based configuration that adds personal bonus drops to Chests.
Cheat Codes
Hidden in-match inputs that can free Sprite allies.
Match Overrides
Rule-changing effects activated through Override Consoles.
Epic separates these systems clearly in the official season notes.
The September update appears to expand two of those four systems directly:
-
Loot Hacks
-
Match Overrides
while also adding new Sprites to collect.
What should players do before September 3?
There is no major preparation grind required just to access the update, but a few things are worth checking.
Keep some Sprite Dust available
New Loot Hack choices mean there may be a reason to reconfigure your current setup.
Spending every remaining piece of Sprite Dust before the update could reduce your flexibility.
Learn your current Override pool
Knowing how the launch Overrides work makes it easier to identify whether the five new additions actually improve your preferred playstyle.
GameMarket’s Match Overrides Guide covers the existing twelve.
Finish any Sprite collecting you care about
New Sprites expand an already large collection pool.
If you are still chasing current variants, collecting them before another wave enters rotation can simplify the hunt.
GameMarket’s Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprite overview explains how the new generation feeds into the persistent Sprite Garden.
What remains unconfirmed?
Several details still need final verification:
-
the official name of the third new Sprite
-
final X-Ray ability text
-
final Onigiri ability text
-
all five new Override names
-
exact mechanics of Big Heads
-
exact mechanics of Prop Hunt
-
complete new Loot Hack lineup
-
Sprite Dust costs for any new Loot Hacks
-
exact patch downtime
-
whether any additional BR balance changes ship at the same time
Those details should be updated once Epic publishes the full September patch notes.
September 3 is another expansion of the Override systems
The September update does not appear to replace the systems introduced on August 20.
It expands them.
Sprites get their first community-designed additions.
Match Overrides get another five rules.
Loot Hacks gain more potential options.
That is a useful direction for Season 4 because all three systems become more interesting as their available choices grow.
For players who want broader context on the season, GameMarket’s Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override guide covers the Sprite Garden and season structure, while the Override Weapons Guide explains Mega Buster and Sonic Power Sneakers.
