Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override arrives August 20, 2026, and Epic Games is keeping one of Chapter 7's most recognizable features alive. Sprites are returning with a new generation to collect, new powers and variants, quality-of-life improvements, and an entirely new Sprite Garden built around showing off your collection.

Sprites are not disappearing when Chapter 7 Season 3: Runners ends. Instead, Epic is expanding the system into one of Override's headline features.

The next Battle Royale season will introduce a completely new generation of Sprites while giving the creatures you've already collected a permanent home. The biggest addition is the Sprite Garden, a separate island getaway where players can interact with their collection, visit friends' gardens, and show off every Sprite they've unlocked.

Here is everything Epic has confirmed so far, what carries over from Season 3, and what players should finish before Override begins.

What's Confirmed for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override

Epic's first detailed Sprite announcement gives us a surprisingly clear picture of what is coming with the new season.

The confirmed additions include:

Epic describes Override as the next step for the Sprite system rather than a complete reset, meaning the collection players have built during Runners still matters once the new season starts.

The Sprite Garden Is the Biggest New Addition

The most interesting feature revealed so far is the Sprite Garden.

Rather than leaving your collected Sprites inside a menu, Epic is turning the collection into an actual destination. The Sprite Garden is described as an island getaway where players can play with their Sprites, display their collection, and visit their friends' garden sanctuaries.

Even better, collecting a Sprite during Season 4 will automatically add it to your Garden.

That creates a progression loop outside normal Battle Royale matches: find a new Sprite, add it to your collection, and gradually build a Garden that represents everything you've discovered during the season.

Epic says the Sprite Garden was developed in collaboration with Fairview Portals and Beyond Creative, and more information is still coming about how the Garden will work and evolve over time.

Your Season 3 Sprites Aren't Disappearing

Players who invested time into collecting Sprites throughout Chapter 7 Season 3: Runners won't be starting completely from zero.

Epic confirms that Season 3 Sprites will be preserved inside the new Sprite Garden. They'll also remain visible on the Sprite Collection page.

Those previous-generation Sprites will additionally survive through cosmetic unlocks associated with the Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling and as pilots for the Guardian Outfit.

That makes completing the current collection more meaningful than simply chasing a temporary seasonal checklist.

Epic has even left the door open for Sprites from older generations to return later, potentially giving players another opportunity to complete collections they missed the first time around.

New Sprites, Powers and Variants Are Coming

Override isn't simply recycling the current Sprite roster.

Epic says Season 4 will contain a whole new generation featuring new powers and variants. The developer also promises new methods of discovering Sprites and several quality-of-life improvements inspired by community feedback.

Exactly what those new powers do has not yet been revealed.

That detail could be especially important for Battle Royale because Sprites have previously been more than collectibles. Their abilities can influence how players approach fights, mobility, recovery and exploration, meaning a new Sprite generation has the potential to affect the Season 4 gameplay meta as well as the collection system.

For now, Epic is keeping the actual Season 4 Sprite roster mostly under wraps.

Five Community Sprites Are Joining Override

We do know five of the Sprites coming later in the season.

Epic selected five winners from its Design-A-Sprite community contest:

• Honey Sprite — designed by Conejito_sam
• Pond Sprite — designed by Pine & Kiri
• X-Ray Sprite — designed by Avila215

These five won't necessarily be available on launch day. Epic specifically says the winning designs will arrive through mid-season updates.

The contest received more than 20,000 Sprite designs, making the winners only a tiny selection from a much larger wave of community concepts.

It also gives Epic an easy way to keep the Sprite hunt fresh after Override's initial launch instead of releasing the entire collection on day one.

What Resets When Season 3 Ends?

There is one important warning for current players.

While your collected Sprites will carry forward into the Garden and collection system, Gizmos and Sprite Dust will reset when Season 3 ends.

That means hoarding those currencies indefinitely won't give you a head start in Override.

Epic is also planning more boosted drop-rate days, surprise Power Hours, and additional quests during the remainder of Runners, giving players more opportunities to finish their current Sprite collection before August 20.

If there's a Season 3 variant you're still missing, the final days of Runners are the time to chase it.

What Hasn't Been Revealed Yet

There's still a lot Epic hasn't shown.

We don't currently have the complete Season 4 Sprite roster, detailed descriptions of their new abilities, the full Battle Pass lineup, or a complete breakdown of Override's map and loot pool.

Epic has also said that more information is coming about how the Sprite Garden evolves over time, suggesting the feature could expand beyond what players see when it first becomes available.

So far, the Garden and Sprite overhaul are the clearest confirmed pieces of the new season.

Expect Epic to reveal considerably more as the August 20 launch gets closer.

What to Do Before Override Launches

If you've been collecting Sprites during Runners, there are a few things worth finishing before the season changes.

Complete the Sprite variants you care about. Your existing collection will be preserved in the new Garden, making late-season hunting more valuable than usual.

Don't save Sprite Dust expecting to use it next season. Epic has confirmed that both Sprite Dust and Gizmos reset at the end of Season 3.

Watch for Power Hours and boosted drops. Epic is planning more opportunities to complete your collection before Override arrives.

And if you've largely ignored Sprites this season, Override may be the best time to reconsider. The Garden turns them from a seasonal Battle Royale mechanic into a much more visible collection system.

Why Override Could Make Sprites a Permanent Fortnite Feature

The biggest takeaway isn't simply that Sprites are returning.

It is that Epic is giving them infrastructure.

A dedicated collection page, persistent Garden, social visits, cosmetic integration, new generations, community-created designs and the possibility of older Sprites returning all suggest the system is being built with more longevity than a typical one-season mechanic. That's an inference from the features Epic has announced rather than a formal promise that Sprites will remain permanently.

For collectors, that turns every new Sprite into something closer to a long-term unlock.

For Battle Royale players, the more important question will be how powerful the new generation becomes once their abilities are revealed.
