Etheria Restart Omni Cognizance: Kynessa Kit Preview and What We Know
By Michael Pras 21 September 2026, 02:00 WIB
Etheria: Restart's next limited banner, Omni Cognizance, brings Kynessa — the Apex Animus that anchors the second phase of SS6: Pyrite Nyx — from 23 September. XD Games has published her role, her scaling and her date: she is a damage dealer whose damage scales with HP rather than ATK, and her kit stacks her own signature debuffs until they trigger crowd-control effects. What has not been published is the kit itself — no skill text, multipliers or cooldowns are public ahead of the SS6.2 patch notes. This preview covers what is confirmed, what an HP-scaling debuff DPS means for building her, and who she is likely to fit, so the pull decision can be made on the 23rd rather than in the dark. Numbers will follow once the notes land.
Who Kynessa is
Kynessa was revealed as a silhouette at the SS6 launch on 2 September and named in XD Games' season announcement as the season's second-phase Animus. The Omni Cognizance key art is the first full look: a green-and-white design with a bladed halberd and a floral halo, listed as a limited-time banner. She is an Apex Animus, the game's term for its Constant (Light) and Disorder (Dark) rarity tier, which sits above the Red, Blue and Green Kinetic pool and is pulled on a separate banner with a separate currency.
Officially, the developer describes her as a DPS with HP-based damage scaling who continuously stacks her signature debuffs to trigger crowd-control effects. That single sentence does most of the work in the sections below.
What "Apex" means for the cost
Apex banners use Apex Prototypes, which cost 300 Hydra Crystals each — three times the price of the Anima Prototypes used for Kinetic banners. As the game's limited-banner rules stand, the featured SSR is guaranteed within 100 summons, and any SSR that drops on the limited banner is the featured one, so there is no off-rate result to lose a guarantee to. An SR or better is guaranteed every ten pulls.
That makes a full pity on Kynessa a 30,000-crystal ceiling. It is the same ceiling every Apex banner carries, but it is worth stating because SS6 has two Apex drops three weeks apart: Kynessa on the 23rd, then Syen and Auroral Nell on 14 October. A player who spends to pity on the first has nothing left for the second unless they have been banking since the anniversary. Our SS6 Pyrite Nyx calendar lays out the full season schedule and the free-crystal sources around it.
Role: an HP-scaling DPS with built-in control
Etheria: Restart does not assign fixed classes — many Animus cover more than one job — so "role" here means what the developer's description says she does. Read literally, it is three things at once:
- Primary damage dealer. She is described as a DPS first. Her place in a team is the carry slot, not a support or sustain slot.
- Self-sufficient front-liner. Because her damage scales with HP, the stat that keeps her alive is the stat that makes her hit, so she does not need a dedicated protector the way an ATK carry does.
- Crowd control as a by-product. Her control does not come from a separate utility skill; it triggers once her own debuff stacks reach a threshold. That makes her closer to a debuffer-carry hybrid than to a pure nuker, and it means her control is only as reliable as her ability to keep attacking.
The nearest existing archetype in the roster is the debuff-stacking damage dealer whose hits apply a signature mark that pays off at a count — Raymerry is the comparison the community has reached for. Whether Kynessa's stacks behave the same way is not yet known.
Build: what HP scaling decides before the numbers arrive
Most damage dealers in Etheria: Restart scale from ATK, and their Modules — the six-slot gear pieces farmed in Threshold — are built around ATK% and Crit. Kynessa is not one of those. The following holds regardless of what her exact multipliers turn out to be:
Modules
- Main stats: Three of the six Module slots have fixed main stats; the other three are where an HP-scaling unit stacks HP% rather than ATK%. Crit Rate and Crit DMG remain relevant only if her skills can crit, which the patch notes will confirm.
- Substats: HP% first, flat HP second, then Speed. ATK rolls that would be the priority on any other carry are wasted on her.
- Set effects: Prioritise sets whose bonus is HP or damage-taken reduction over the ATK sets that most DPS builds run. If her control needs her to survive to a stack threshold, the defensive set is also the offensive one.
Shells
Shells, the game's fully farmable weapon equivalent, carry stat lines and set effects. Her candidates are the ones that raise HP directly or convert defensive stats into damage output; the ATK-focused Shells that carry most DPS builds are not. Because Shells are farmed rather than pulled, this is the part of her build that can be prepared before the banner opens.
Stat priority, provisionally
HP% > flat HP > Speed > Crit (if applicable) > everything else. Speed sits third because a stack-based unit needs turns to build stacks; the exact weighting between HP and Speed depends on how many hits her skills deal per action, which is the number most worth waiting for.
Combat profile — inferred, not confirmed
Nothing in this section is from her skill text, because none is public. It is how an HP-scaling, debuff-stacking DPS plays in this game's turn-based system, applied to what the developer has said about her.
Turn one to three: build the stacks. Her early turns are about landing hits, not about a single nuke. Every action that applies her signature debuff moves the target toward the crowd-control threshold; a stack-based unit that gets Turn Meter pushed back or Silenced before the threshold is a DPS doing partial damage with no control. Speed and debuff protection on her supports matter more for her than for a wind-up nuker.
The threshold: control triggers. Once the stacks hit the count the kit specifies, the crowd-control effect fires. Whether that is a Stun, a Freeze, a Turn Meter reduction or something new is the single most important unknown, because it decides whether she is a boss-fight unit (Turn Meter and cooldown control are what matter there) or an Arena unit (hard CC wins Summit Arena rounds). Bosses in Threshold and Grim Pursuit typically resist Turn Meter effects, which would push her toward the Arena.
After the threshold: sustained damage. An HP carry does not fall off in a long fight the way a glass ATK carry does, so her value compounds over rounds. Expect her to be at her best in fights that last long enough for a second and third control trigger, and less impressive in the short auto-clears where a burst nuker finishes before her stacks matter.
Weakness by design. A unit whose control depends on her own stacks is vulnerable to anything that strips debuffs from the target — enemies with cleanse or Immunity reset her progress to zero. Team-building around her should include a way to remove Immunity or extend debuffs, which is exactly the synergy that makes her a fit for debuff-focused rosters and a poor fit for buff-focused ones.
When the SS6.2 patch notes publish her skills, this section will be replaced with the actual kit; until then, treat it as a reading of the archetype, not of Kynessa.
Who she fits — and who should hold
The decision is a roster question. The case for pulling:
- You have no built Apex damage dealer. Apex units are the game's strongest tier, and a debuff-stacking DPS whose control triggers on its own gives a team both damage and lockdown from one slot.
- Your team already runs debuff synergy. Units that extend debuffs, punish debuffed enemies or trigger on crowd control multiply what Kynessa's stacks do. If those are your core, she is a natural fit.
- You play the endurance content. HP scaling pays off most in the long fights — Summit Arena, Grim Pursuit, the harder story chapters — where a carry that does not need a dedicated protector frees a team slot.
The case for holding:
- You have a built Apex carry already. A second Apex DPS adds less than a first, and the resources to raise her — Shells, Modules, Animus levelling — are the slow half of the game. A new carry on an under-geared account is not a carry.
- Syen or Auroral Nell is the unit you have been waiting for. Both arrive on 14 October, both are Apex, and both will cost the same 30,000-crystal ceiling. Kynessa is the first Apex drop of the season, not the only one.
- Your Kinetic roster still has gaps. Anima Prototypes are a third of the price; if a Red, Blue or Green banner would fix a real hole in your team, that is the cheaper fix.
The "fit, not power" framing matters more than usual here because nothing about her actual strength is known. What is known is her archetype, and that is enough to decide whether the archetype is one your account lacks.
Before 23 September
- Bank Apex Prototypes. Every source of Hydra Crystals between now and the 23rd is a pull on her banner or the October one.
- Redeem ETHERIASS6 if you have not. No expiry has been published, but season codes rarely outlast their season.
- Farm HP Modules now. If you intend to pull, Threshold runs for HP% pieces before the banner opens mean she is buildable on day one rather than day ten.
- Keep one Animus Reconfigure respec. SS6's limited stat respec is the tool for moving a built unit's stats toward HP if you plan to pivot an existing carry into her supporting cast.
- If you are on the anniversary's new server, note that the pre-registration rewards are tied to that server rather than your main; our 1st Anniversary breakdown explains which account those crystals actually land on.
A full build guide — skills, multipliers, recommended Modules and Shells, team examples — will follow once the SS6.2 patch notes publish her kit.
Build the roster she'll join
