Diablo Immortal x Spawn: What's Coming in the Crossover

Diablo Immortal is teaming up with Spawn for a limited-time crossover event, "The Hellspawn Arrives in Sanctuary." Blizzard confirmed the event runs from September 29, 2026, after maintenance, through November 1, 2026, at 2:59 AM. This first look covers the event's main systems and rewards, with full patch notes following on September 28.

Overview: Hell answers to vengeance

The crossover pits Sanctuary's forces against Malebolgia's influence, bringing chains, necroplasm, and Spawn-inspired powers into Diablo Immortal. Players can fight through Hellspawn's Bane, take on the co-op boss encounter The Eighth Circle, and collect a set of Spawn-themed cosmetics and gear along the way.

Hellspawn's Vengeance: the event's reward track

The core progression system is Hellspawn's Vengeance. Players earn Vengeance Marks by completing weekly tasks and participating in the event's other activities, including Hellspawn's Bane and The Eighth Circle. Building up Vengeance Marks unlocks:

• Selectable Hellspawn Arsenal weapon skins
• 6-star Hellspawn emotes
• Legendary Crests
• Legendary and Set equipment
• A Hellspawn Avatar frame
• A 1-star Necroplasmic Totem Gem

Hellspawn's Bane: a Spawn-themed Survivors challenge

Hellspawn's Bane is a special Spawn-themed take on the Survivors Bane challenge mode. During the event, players wield Spawn-inspired powers, including vicious chains, a living cloak, and necroplasmic energy, to fight through waves of demonic hordes.

The challenge doesn't stop at the horde fight. As the trial unfolds, players descend into Hell for a fiery confrontation against a powerful foe, then return to the battlefield empowered by the spoils of that fight.

The Eighth Circle: co-op boss fight against Malebolgia

The Eighth Circle pits a party of up to 4 players against Malebolgia, one of the most powerful rulers of Hell in the Spawn universe. In Spawn's lore, Malebolgia is the demon lord who creates and commands Hellspawn warriors, and is directly responsible for creating Spawn himself as a pawn in Hell's eternal conflict.

The fight itself mixes brawn and sorcery, with large-scale attacks and summoned Hellspawn to watch out for. A few systems layer on top of the core fight:

• Daily time goals track how fast you can take the boss down.
• Ranks offer better rewards and points the higher you climb.
• MVP rewards: achieving MVP four times cumulatively in a party of 3 or more players earns a unique cosmetic reward.

Cosmetics: Hellspawn's Arsenal and Hellspawn's Guise

Two cosmetic sets tie directly into the Spawn theme:

• Hellspawn's Arsenal: a set of weapon cosmetics reflecting the many forms a Hellspawn's arsenal can take, tied narratively to Al Simmons' return from Hell for vengeance.
• Hellspawn's Guise: the Crimson Cloak look, framed around the idea of a soul that broke its bargain with Hell rather than serving it.

New Legendary Gem: Necroplasmic Totem

The event introduces a new Legendary Gem, Necroplasmic Totem, with a fairly involved effect:

• Dealing damage surrounds you with Necroplasm, increasing your damage done for 6 seconds.
• Every few seconds, the Necroplasm attempts to consume one periodic harmful effect currently on you.
• If it successfully consumes an effect, or if you kill an enemy, it unleashes a Necroplasmic Bolt at a nearby enemy that explodes on contact, burning all nearby enemies for several seconds.
• You can't gain Necroplasm more often than once every 20 seconds, and the Necroplasmic Bolt itself can't trigger more often than once every few seconds.

New familiar: Violator

Violator, one of Malebolgia's most cunning servants, joins the game as a new familiar/transmog. His trait, Shapeshift, has him taking on unexpected forms as he accompanies you through Sanctuary, fitting his reputation for deception in Spawn's lore.

Blizzard has been clear that this is only a first look. Full patch notes for the crossover, presumably including exact drop rates, specific stats for the new gear, and any additional systems, are set to arrive September 28, ahead of the event's September 29 start.
