Clash of Clans Awesome Medal Event: What to Buy First
By Michael Pras 12 August 2026, 08:49 WIB
The Awesome Medal Event runs 12 August to 31 August, and the Trader Shop it opens is where most Chiefs will make their worst decision of the month — not by buying something bad, but by buying in the wrong order. Hero Equipment sits at 3,100 medals a piece, while ore bundles cost 280 to 325. That's roughly ten ore packs per piece of Equipment, and with a finite medal supply you can't have everything. One purchase should come before all the others, and it's not the one most players reach for. Here's the shop contents, the priority order, and the reason Revenge Deck is the first thing to buy rather than the most tempting.
What's in the shop
Observed prices in the current Trader Shop, in Quest Medals:
Hero Equipment — 3,100 each
- Revenge Deck (new this event)
- Electro Boots
- Magic Mirror
- Dark Crown
- Heroic Torch
- Spiky Ball
Decoration — 3,100
- Card Generator, limited to 1 purchase
Ore bundles
- 10 Starry Ore — 320 medals (8 purchases available)
- 60 Glowy Ore — 280 medals (10 purchases)
- 350 Shiny Ore — 325 medals (40 purchases)
Magic items
- Builder Potion (7 available)
- Book of Heroes (3 available)
Alongside the medal tab, the shop also carries Gems, Raid Medals and Card Packs sections.
Buy Revenge Deck first — here's why
Revenge Deck is brand-new Epic Equipment, and it's the only item in the shop with a second deadline attached to it.
From 26 August to 31 August, Revenge Deck is automatically boosted to the maximum level your Hero Hall allows — for free, with no Ore spent. But that boost only applies if you have already unlocked the equipment from this event.
That makes the unlock the real deadline, not the upgrade. Buy it before 26 August and you get five days of testing max-level Equipment in multiplayer raids and Clan Wars at zero Ore cost. Buy it on the 30th, or not at all, and you've missed a free trial that answers the only question that matters: does this Equipment improve my army enough to deserve permanent Ore?
Every other item in the shop will still be a sensible purchase after the boost window. This one gets meaningfully worse if you delay.
Card Generator: the one-purchase decoration
The Card Generator is capped at 1/1, and it ties directly into Clash of Cards — the collection event running the full month, where the top milestone requires 60 different cards for the Manga Fury Prince skin.
The decision here depends entirely on your card progress. If you're chasing 60 unique cards and short on packs, a generator that produces cards is a direct contribution to a milestone you're already working toward. If you've stopped caring about the collection, it's a 3,100-medal decoration.
Check your card count before deciding. That number, not the item's appearance, is the whole argument.
The other Equipment: check your inventory first
Electro Boots, Magic Mirror, Dark Crown, Heroic Torch and Spiky Ball are all existing Epic Equipment, and many established accounts already own some of them.
Two rules:
- Don't buy Equipment for a hero you don't field. Epic Equipment only matters on a hero in your actual attack composition.
- Prefer Equipment you'll invest Ore into. An unlocked Equipment you never upgrade sits at level 1 and does very little. If your Ore is already committed elsewhere, another Equipment unlock is a slow-burning purchase rather than a power spike.
For newer accounts missing several of these, the medal event is one of the cheaper routes to unlocking them — but pick the one matching the hero you attack with most.
Ore is the quiet value play
At 280–325 medals, ore bundles cost roughly a tenth of an Equipment unlock, and they're the resource that makes Equipment you already own actually strong.
The maths worth doing: one Equipment unlock costs the same as about ten ore bundles. If your existing Equipment is under-levelled, ten bundles of ore will improve your attacks more than an eleventh Equipment sitting at level 1.
Shiny Ore has the most purchases available (40), Glowy has 10, Starry has 8 — and Starry Ore is the scarcest of the three in normal play, which makes those 8 purchases the most valuable ore in the shop per medal spent.
How to earn Quest Medals
Medals come from Card Tokens collected in Home Village battles and from completing quests during the event window. The Elephant Rider temporary troop also arrives as part of this event, and there's a bonus grant of 50 Elephant Riders and 20 Super Valkyries added to armies during the period.
The practical note: medals accrue from attacking, and the event runs 19 days. Consistent daily attacking is what determines your medal total, and there's no way to catch up in the final weekend.
A suggested spending order
- Revenge Deck — before 26 August, to secure the free max-level boost window.
- Starry Ore bundles — the scarcest ore, 8 purchases at 320.
- Card Generator — if you're actively chasing the 60-card milestone.
- Glowy and Shiny Ore — to level Equipment you already use.
- Additional Equipment — only for heroes you actually attack with, and only if you have Ore to invest in them.
- Builder Potion and Book of Heroes — situational, but genuinely useful if you have an upgrade queue waiting.
Adjust for your account. A maxed veteran with full Equipment should skip straight to ore; a mid-progression Chief missing several Epics may reasonably prioritise unlocks over ore.
The dates that matter
- 12–31 August — Awesome Medal Event
- 26–31 August — Revenge Deck free max-level boost (requires prior unlock)
- 15–17 and 29–31 August — Resource Fest, 4x collector production plus Goblin Builder
- 22–28 August — Clan Games
- All month — Clash of Cards, with trading closing 2 September at 08:00 UTC
Check the countdown in your own client rather than relying on any published date — shop windows occasionally extend a day or two past an event's end, and server time isn't your time.
