Clash of Clans Resource Fest & Work for Hire #2 Guide: The Prep Matters More Than the Event

Resource Fest & Work for Hire #2 runs 29–31 August — the last round of 4x collector boosts and Goblin Builder help before the season wraps.

Three days, and the two most valuable things you can do both happen before it starts.

The first is the one people miss: Goblin Builder only becomes available when every one of your regular Builders is already busy. If you walk into the 29th with a free Builder, the extra hand you were counting on simply isn't there.

The second is storage space. A 4x collector boost pays nothing into full storages.

What the two halves actually do

Resource Fest — a 4x boost to resource collector production and capacity. Collectors both generate four times as fast and hold four times as much before they cap, so they overflow far less often.

Work for Hire — the Goblin Builder and Goblin Researcher appear in your Home Village as extra hands.

They solve different problems. Resource Fest gives you materials. Work for Hire gives you the capacity to spend them. Used together they compound; used separately, one bottlenecks the other.

The Goblin Builder rules

Requirements:

  • Town Hall 7 or higher
  • All 5 Builder's Huts built. B.O.B's Hut does not count toward this.
  • Goblin Builder is only usable once every regular Builder is occupied.
  • Goblin Researcher is only usable while the Laboratory is already upgrading.

Home Village only. Neither works in the Builder Base or the Clan Capital.

One task at a time. He's a sixth pair of hands, not a second workforce.

Now the fact that should change how you use him:

Any upgrade unfinished when the event ends continues until it's complete.

That means you are not limited to upgrades that fit inside three days. The common mistake is spending him on short, cheap jobs to "get value" before he leaves. The opposite is correct — a 10-day upgrade started on the 31st runs to completion long after the Goblin is gone.

Builder Potions and Research Potions apply to the Goblin workers too. If you're popping a Builder Potion during the event, it's accelerating six builders rather than five.

The gem cost, and why the timing matters

Goblin Builder costs Gems on top of the normal resource cost, and the Gem price scales with the construction time. Longer upgrade, higher Gem cost.

Season Pass boosts reduce that Gem cost — and the current season ends 31 August, the same day the event does. If you're holding a Gold Pass this month, the discount and the Goblin expire together. Use it before it lapses.

Cancelling refunds 50% of the resources but none of the Gems. Decide before you commit, not after.

So the honest trade-off is this: the carry-over rule pushes you toward long upgrades, and the Gem pricing pushes you toward short ones. The sweet spot is the longest upgrade whose Gem cost you're actually willing to pay — usually a mid-tier defence or a Hero-adjacent building rather than a 14-day wall grind or a 4-hour filler job.

What to do in the next two days

  1. Get all five Builders working before the 29th. No idle Builder, or no Goblin Builder. This is the single highest-value prep step and it costs nothing.
  2. Drain your storages. Start upgrades now so there's room to receive four days of quadrupled collector output. Resources collected into full storages are simply lost.
  3. Start something in the Laboratory. The Goblin Researcher is only available while a research is already running.
  4. Bank your Builder Potions. They're worth more across six builders than five.
  5. Decide your Goblin target in advance. Pick the upgrade before the event, so you're not paying Gems on a rushed decision.

During the event

Collect often anyway. The 4x capacity means collectors cap less often, but they still cap. On a three-day event, checking in twice a day is the difference between full value and half.

Spend as you collect. The point of Resource Fest is not a full storage on 1 September — it's upgrades started. Resources sitting in storage when the season turns did nothing.

Give the Goblin the longest job you'll pay for, ideally near the end of the window, so the carry-over does the most work.

Don't cancel anything the Goblin has started. Half your resources back, none of your Gems.

What else closes on 31 August

The season wraps the same day, so several things land at once:

  • Revenge Deck Boost (26–31 August) — the Revenge Deck Epic Equipment is boosted to the maximum level your Hero Hall allows.
  • Clash of Cards — the event itself runs to 31 August, but the trading window stays open until 2 September, 08:00 UTC. You have two extra days to finish sets and spend duplicates at the Trader Shop.
  • Clan Games ends 28 August, the day before this event begins — so bank that reward track first.

Order your last week by expiry. Clan Games closes first, then the Goblin, then the season, then the card trading.

Checklist

  1. Occupy all five Builders before 29 August.
  2. Empty storages into upgrades now.
  3. Start a Lab research so the Goblin Researcher unlocks.
  4. Use the Gold Pass Gem discount before it expires on the 31st.
  5. Give the Goblin a long upgrade — it finishes after the event ends.
  6. Collect twice a day, and spend as you go.
  7. Finish Clash of Cards trades by 2 September, 08:00 UTC.

This is a three-day event that rewards two days of preparation. The players who get the least out of it are the ones who log in on the 29th and discover the Goblin isn't there.

Skip the resource grind

Collector boosts help, but a Town Hall's worth of walls, defences and Hero levels is measured in months of accumulated resources — and that grind is the slow half of any Clash of Clans account. Browse verified Clash of Clans accounts if you'd rather start from a developed village, top up through Clash of Clans Gems, or push trophies and war performance with Clash of Clans boosting.
