Black Desert Weekly Boss Guide: Rewards and What to Clear First
By Michael Pras 20 August 2026, 22:00 WIB
Every weekly boss reward in Black Desert resets on Thursday at 00:00 UTC, and the reason priority matters is that the caps aren't equal. Garmoth spawns 14 times a week but only pays out 3 times. The four Land of the Morning Light bosses appear 11 to 12 times each but pay once each. Edania gives you exactly one boss per week — you choose which. That last one carries the highest opportunity cost in the game, because a missed Edania week is a week of Piece of Edana you cannot recover no matter how many bosses you kill afterwards. Here's what each boss actually gives you and the order to clear them in.
The reset that governs everything
Thursday, 00:00 UTC. Every weekly boss quest resets then — Garmoth, the Land of the Morning Light bosses, and Edania.
That single time anchors your whole week. If you play irregularly, treat Thursday as the start of your cycle rather than Monday, and front-load the capped content early rather than discovering on Wednesday night that you've missed three separate weekly rewards.
Edania — clear this first
You can challenge one Edania boss per week, and the quest resets Thursday at 00:00 UTC. You travel to the boss location in Edania to take it on.
Rewards: Piece of Edana, used to craft and enhance Edana Armors.
This is the highest-priority weekly clear, and the reasoning is simple arithmetic. Every other boss on this list spawns repeatedly through the week, giving you multiple chances to hit your cap. Edania gives you one attempt at one boss. Miss it and there is no second window.
If you only have time for one weekly boss, make it this one.
Garmoth — three payouts from fourteen spawns
Garmoth spawns 14 times per week, but you can only receive rewards 3 times. Access the payouts through the weekly quest "[Weekly] Gotta Frame It, Garmoth I, II, III", available from Kukao, located near the Ominous Altar in Garmoth's Nest by the Node Manager.
One rule catches people out every week: Garmoth's loot does not go straight into your inventory. You have to click the "Receive Reward" button that appears on your UI near the minimap. Walk away without clicking it and you've killed a dragon for nothing.
Rewards include: Garmoth's Heart, Garmoth's Bloodstone, Garmoth's Horn, Sealed Black Magic Crystal, Combined Magic Crystals (Macalod, Hoom, Gervish), Kagtum Submission Ring, Akum Defense Gear, Garmoth's Scale and Black Stone.
Garmoth's Heart can be processed via Heating into an Inverted Heart of Garmoth.
With fourteen spawns and only three payouts, Garmoth is forgiving on timing — you don't need to catch a specific window, just any three across the week.
Land of the Morning Light — four bosses, one payout each
Sangoon, Uturi, Bulgasal and Golden Pig King each appear 11 to 12 times per week, and you can claim boss loot once per week for each.
You only need to defeat one of each type to receive that week's rewards for it. Claim through the Region Quest UI in the top right of your screen.
You do not need to have completed the Morning Light main questline to collect this loot — a detail that surprises a lot of returning players.
Two things worth chasing here:
Flame of the Primordial. When you defeat all four and acquire their loot, the top 10 Adventurers by contribution on each server have a very low chance of receiving it. Contribution matters, so arriving early and dealing real damage isn't just about not dying.
Dark Bonghwang. This boss can randomly spawn in place of Sangoon, Uturi, Bulgasal or Golden Pig King, and rewards better loot. Its Feather is exchanged through Heo Seungwon, the Luxury Vendor at Yukjo Street, with the exchange list only appearing when you're carrying one. Dark Bonghwang's Tear processes via Simple Alchemy into large quantities of Essence of Dawn.
Other drops from the LoML bosses include Embers of the Primordial, Primordial Crystal, Asadal Belt and Reforge Stones.
Vell — and the mechanic that kills unprepared raiders
Vell, the Heart of the Ocean, appears deep within Margoria in Vell's Realm.
The tsunami is the thing to know. When it triggers, every Adventurer on the surface of the water dies. You survive by either firmly holding onto your ship or diving underwater. Turning up without knowing that is how a long sail ends in nothing.
Rewards are claimed through the Black Spirit's Safe, and include Vell's Heart — a rechargeable offensive alchemy stone — plus Vell's Concentrated Magic, Rainbow Coral Ring, Caphras Stones and Black Stones.
If you get Concentrated Magic instead of the Heart, you can process it via Simple Alchemy with 1,500 Alchemy Stone Shards to make a Vell's Heart yourself.
The standard world bosses
The full rotation also includes Kzarka, Nouver, Karanda, Kutum, Quint, Muraka and Mirumok Destroyer Offin — plus the enhanced variants Nightmarish Kzarka, Bloodstorm Nouver, Stormbringer Karanda and Thundercloud Kutum.
These are your source of yellow-grade boss weapons and armour. Kzarka spawns inside the Serendia Temple south of Heidel and drops the Kzarka weapon line along with Latent Auras.
A word on gear requirements: boss loot goes to Adventurers who contribute meaningfully. Turning up badly under-geared means surviving nothing and earning nothing, so build enough AP and DP to both withstand the boss's attacks and register real damage before you start scheduling your week around them.
Two features most players never enable
The Boss Info UI, added in April 2026, shows boss timers in one place. Open it via Menu (ESC) → Adventure, or the Dark Rift button at the bottom right. Pressing a boss icon on the World Map (M) also opens it. A spawned boss appears with a red icon at the top.
One limitation: remaining time isn't shown for Field Bosses, Hunting Bosses, or any boss with a random appearance time — for those, the UI shows which server it spawned on instead.
Boss Notification alerts you before a spawn. Enable it through Esc → Adventure (F5) → Boss Notification. It costs nothing and removes the need to watch a clock.
The multi-character trick
Worth knowing if you're chasing several bosses in a session: park a separate character near each boss location. Switching characters is considerably faster than travelling across the map, and it turns a schedule you'd otherwise miss into one you can actually keep.
Your weekly priority order
- Edania weekly boss — one attempt, one week, no recovery. Do this first.
- Garmoth ×3 — fourteen spawns to hit three payouts, and remember to click Receive Reward.
- The four Land of the Morning Light bosses — one each, with a Dark Bonghwang upgrade chance and Flame of the Primordial for top contributors.
- Vell — high-value alchemy stone, but plan for the tsunami.
- Standard world bosses — boss gear, and the most forgiving to skip since they rotate constantly.
Weekly boss loot feeds directly into the progression the game is currently building toward — our level cap 70 guide covers the two-phase level revamp running through to October, and the Family-wide bonuses that make this grind pay off across your whole roster.
Keep the weekly cycle without the schedule
Weekly bosses reward players who can be online at spawn times across a full week — and that consistency is the part a schedule breaks rather than a skill gap. Browse verified Black Desert Online accounts if you'd rather start from a developed Family with the AP and DP to contribute, keep weekly clears consistent with Black Desert Online hourly services, or set specific targets with Black Desert Online boosting.
