Black Desert Online Sep 23 Update: Common Skill, Codex & Agris

Black Desert Online's September 23, 2026 update is a systems-heavy patch rather than a new-region drop. Its three biggest additions are a new Common Skill usable by every class, the Treasure Codex for tracking long-term treasure projects, and a limited Blessing of Agris Scroll event that can push Item Drop Rate beyond the usual 300% cap.
For most players, the practical takeaway is simple: test the Common Skill before rebuilding any PvP combo around it, use the Treasure Codex to clean up old treasure grinds, and save the Agris Scroll for sessions where you can actually benefit from the full 60-minute drop-rate window.
The new Common Skill works across every class
Pearl Abyss has introduced a new Common Skill tied to the finale of Black Desert's first major story act.
Unlike class-specific abilities, the Common Skill is designed to behave the same way across every character. Pearl Abyss says the skill uses identical effects and animations regardless of class, with the goal of giving every character another combat option without creating class-by-class differences in hit detection or combo flow.
The currently confirmed combat effects are straightforward:
- it can inflict Knockdown on monsters,
- it can dismount other Adventurers,
- it is available as a shared skill rather than a unique class tool.
The developer note is also important: Pearl Abyss says the skill is still being fine-tuned and that further work is planned to make it more viable in PvP.
That means players should avoid treating the September 23 version as a final PvP meta-defining mechanic. Its monster Knockdown and dismount utility are live features, but the developer is already signaling that PvP behavior may receive additional adjustments.
Test how naturally the Common Skill fits into your existing rotation instead of forcing it into every combo.
Why the Common Skill matters even without huge damage
The interesting part is not necessarily raw damage. A universal skill gives every class the same extra piece of utility without replacing class-specific movement, protection, and combo identity.
For PvE, the confirmed Knockdown effect can matter wherever crowd control is relevant. For PvP, the dismount effect is more situational, and Pearl Abyss says further tuning is still planned.
No official patch text published with the September 23 notes gives enough information to justify a final damage ranking, "best class synergy" list, or universal combo guide yet. Those should wait until players have tested the live version more thoroughly.
Treasure Codex finally puts treasure progress in one menu
The second major addition is much easier to recommend immediately.
Black Desert's new Treasure Codex centralizes information that previously required players to track materials, locations, and crafting progress manually.
You can open it through:
Menu (ESC) → Adventure (F5)
The Codex lists treasure items and their related Masterpiece Quests, then shows how far you have progressed based on the key materials already owned.
That is especially useful for long projects where one missing component can be easy to forget. The Codex shows available treasures, key materials, acquisition methods, relevant monster zones, crafting methods, completion status, and first completion dates. Completed treasures appear in full color.
Old treasure completions still count
One of the best quality-of-life details is that the Codex is not only for treasures completed after September 23.
Pearl Abyss says first completion dates are also displayed for treasures completed before the update.
If you own multiple copies of the same treasure, the system records the first completion date rather than treating every copy as a separate milestone.
For veteran players, that makes the Codex partly a progression archive rather than just a checklist. Newer players also get a clearer way to choose their next treasure project.

The Codex links directly to where materials come from
The Treasure Codex is more than a collection screen.
Selecting Monster Zone Info or How to Obtain can show the areas where required treasure materials drop.
Once all required materials are ready, the Codex can also open Yaz's Combinables Pouch with the relevant materials automatically registered.
That removes some of the manual work at the final crafting step. The patch also adds a Treasure Codex button to Allan Serbin's Landscape, which can now point directly to Monster Zone Info for relevant treasure materials.
Blessing of Agris can push Item Drop Rate to 500%
The most immediately valuable part of the update for grinders is the limited Blessing of Agris Scroll event.
The scroll gives:
Item Drop Rate +50% for 60 minutes
The key feature is that its bonus applies beyond the normal maximum Item Drop Rate limit.
Black Desert's default cap is 300%. With Blessing of Agris active, total Item Drop Rate can reach up to 500%, assuming your other active bonuses are already high enough to reach that total.
The scroll itself does not instantly give 500% Item Drop Rate. It adds 50 percentage points while being allowed to function beyond the normal cap.
That distinction matters when planning high-value grind sessions.
Blessing of Agris price, limits, and dates
The event runs from September 23 after maintenance until October 22 before maintenance.
Each Blessing of Agris Scroll has:
- 60-minute duration
- 60-minute cooldown
- 1 billion Silver price
- 10 purchases per week
- weekly purchase reset every Monday at 00:00
- availability from Agris's Avatar
Agris's Avatar can be found in Velia and Angavu Outpost.
Players can also obtain two Blessing of Agris Scrolls once per Family through a login challenge during the event period.
There is another deadline to remember: unused Blessing of Agris Scrolls will be removed during the November 5, 2026 maintenance.
So this is not an item to hoard.
When should you actually use the Agris Scroll?
A 1-billion-Silver consumable should not be activated just because it exists.
The scroll makes the most sense when three conditions line up:
- you are grinding a zone where drop-rate scaling matters,
- your other drop-rate buffs are already strong enough that exceeding the standard cap is useful,
- you can remain productive for most of the 60-minute duration.
If your normal Item Drop Rate is nowhere near the cap, the scroll can still add +50%, but its special value—working beyond 300%—is being underused.
It is also worth planning around your weekly purchase limit. Ten scrolls represent 10 billion Silver if you buy the full weekly allocation.
That can be reasonable for high-value grinding, but not for every account.
Other useful changes in the September 23 patch
The patch includes several smaller improvements beyond the three headline systems.
Ships receive major Barter and wharf quality-of-life improvements. Players aboard large ships can access several wharf functions without disembarking, including shops, quest interactions, repairs, resupply, sailor management, and cargo loading.
Barter Information now displays distances and adds a nearby town/wharf navigation option, while ship auto-navigation routes have also been improved.
Pearl Abyss also adjusted Hermesia Inner Castle by removing its highest-tier monster-zone classification and changing several drop rates and available items.
These changes matter most to Inner Edania grinders and players who spend significant time at sea.
What should you do first after the update?
The September 23 patch is best approached as a quality-of-life and optimization update.
First, open the Treasure Codex and check whether old treasure completions and current material progress are being tracked correctly.
Second, test the Common Skill on your main class. Learn where its Knockdown or dismount utility fits, but avoid rebuilding your PvP setup around it before Pearl Abyss finishes the additional PvP tuning it has already mentioned.
Third, claim the two free Blessing of Agris Scrolls from the login challenge before deciding whether the 1-billion-Silver weekly purchases make sense for your grind routine.
