ZZZ Truvia Boss Guide: How to Beat Etheric Other in Every Phase
By Sir Ayup
ZZZ Truvia, officially Etheric Other - Truvia, is a boss in Season 3 Chapter 4 of the Zenless Zone Zero main story, and HoYoverse has now released her official Enemy Dossier with combat tips for every phase. She switches between a longsword form, a mermaid form and a Singularity Leakage phase full of clones and barriers. At gamemarket.gg, we broke down how each phase works and how to use Chain Parry and Defensive Assist to beat her.
Spoiler note: Truvia appears in Season 3 Chapter 4 of the Main Story. This guide focuses on combat and keeps story details light, but HoYoverse recommends finishing that chapter first.
Etheric Other - Truvia at a Glance
- Boss: Etheric Other - Truvia
- Where: Season 3 Chapter 4 of the Main Story
- Version: 3.3 "Journey to the Sky"
- Dossier: Enemy Dossier Vol. 7, classed as a Boss with a "Top Secret" threat rating
- Key mechanics: Chain Parry, purple zones, lightning attacks, Corruptive Barrier, clones and Defensive Assist
Who Is Truvia?
The dossier describes Truvia as someone who claims to be chasing the sun but has long been devoured by shadows. She burned everything in her path with an ambition born from a mistake, yet she herself had already been reduced to ashes long before. Her wings, weighed down by sin and illusions, carry her not to the sky but toward damnation.
That theme shows in her fight. She keeps changing shape and fighting style, so learning each phase is the key to winning.
Phase 1: Longsword Form
When the fight begins, Truvia uses a longsword to unleash swift close-range attacks.
Official tip: when she launches a special attack with an X flash, press the Assist button twice in a row to trigger a Chain Parry.
How to handle it:
- Stay close enough to punish her, but keep your eyes on her for the X-shaped flash
- Have your Assist ready, since Chain Parry needs two quick presses
- Do not panic-dodge every swing. Saving your timing for the X flash gives you the biggest punish window
Phase 2: Mermaid Form
At certain points, Truvia shifts into a mermaid form and turns her reverse-gripped longsword into a staff.
Official tip: watch out for the purple zones and avoid the lightning attacks.
How to handle it:
- Leave purple zones immediately when they appear on the floor
- Keep moving during lightning patterns instead of standing still to attack
- Attack between waves of lightning, when the arena is clear of purple markers
This phase rewards patience, so focus on staying safe before going for damage.
Phase 3: Singularity Leakage
At certain moments, Truvia pulls your Agent into a Singularity Leakage. During this phase, she deploys a Corruptive Barrier and uses her spatial abilities and clones to launch a coordinated assault.
Official tip: keep an eye out for the golden area and seize the opportunity to perform a Defensive Assist.
How to handle it:
- Track the clones so you are not surprised from behind
- Look for the golden area, which signals your chance to act
- Use Defensive Assist at that moment to turn her assault into an opening
General Tips for the Truvia Fight
Bring a reliable Assist chain. Two of her three official tips revolve around Assists, so a team with strong Assist follow-ups makes the fight much smoother.
Prioritize survival. Between lightning, zones and clone attacks, she deals steady damage. A support or healer gives you room to learn her patterns.
Learn before you push. If a phase keeps beating you, focus on dodging and parrying first, then add damage once the timing feels natural.
If you are still deciding on Agents for this version, our Phoenix or Severian pull guide for 3.3 compares the two newest options, and Phoenix's revive is covered in our Phoenix pull or save analysis, which can be a lifesaver in long boss fights like this one.
Your Truvia Checklist
- Reach Season 3 Chapter 4 of the Main Story.
- Chain Parry the X flash in her longsword form.
- Avoid purple zones and lightning in her mermaid form.
- Watch the golden area in Singularity Leakage.
- Defensive Assist at the right moment to break her assault.
Etheric Other - Truvia tests your Assist timing as much as your damage. Learn her three phases, respect the purple zones and wait for the golden area to turn her biggest attacks into openings.
