Version 2.0 adds two new pets to The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin — the Royal Steed, a Ride pet, and the Honey Bumblephant, a Flight pet.

Neither is bought, pulled or awarded. Both are wild captures, both are gated behind specific in-game times, and both can be accidentally killed if you push your damage too far. One of them also runs away the moment it appears.

Here's how to get each of them.

The short version

  • Royal Steed (Ride): spawns after 8:00 AM at the Eastern Outskirts of Ravens. It flees immediately — chase and attack it.
  • Honey Bumblephant (Flight): set the clock past 11:00 AM, then interact with the beehive northeast of Rockspire and follow the trail.
  • Both are captured with a Radiant or Brilliant Potion of Charm at near-zero HP.
  • Kill either by accident and you can reset — log out and back in.
  • Royal Steed doubles as a Pet Expedition unit for farming Morion Ore in Ravens.

Before you start: two prerequisites

If you're returning to the game for Version 2.0, check these first — they trip up more players than the captures themselves.

  • Unlock the pet feature. It activates automatically at Act 1, Episode 22: Information From the Hunter in the main story.
  • Unlock wild capture separately. Complete the Region Quest with the NPC Ashu, north of the Werebear Camp warp point. This grants Charm Potion crafting — without it you can weaken a pet perfectly and still have no way to catch it.

How to catch the Royal Steed

Type: Ride · Location: Eastern Outskirts, town of Ravens

  1. Set the in-game time to after 8:00 AM. It won't spawn before then.
  2. Head to the Eastern Outskirts of Ravens and locate it.
  3. Chase it down. The Steed starts running the moment it appears — this isn't a stationary encounter. Have a mount ready before you approach.
  4. Land an attack to trigger the fight.
  5. Whittle its health to almost zero.
  6. Use a Radiant Potion of Charm or Brilliant Potion of Charm for a capture chance.

If you kill it by mistake: log out and back in to reset the encounter, or set the clock forward to 8:00 AM again.

How to catch the Honey Bumblephant

Type: Flight · Location: northeast of Rockspire

This one is a short quest chain rather than a single encounter.

  1. Set the in-game time past 11:00 AM. The sequence won't trigger otherwise.
  2. Find the suspicious beehive northeast of Rockspire and interact with it.
  3. Follow the yellow trail that appears.
  4. Attack the flower at the end of the trail.
  5. Interact with the yellow flower to summon the Honey Bumblephant.
  6. Fight it down to near-zero health, then use the same Radiant or Brilliant Potion of Charm.

If it dies: log out and back in to reset the beehive. If that doesn't work, set the clock to 11:00 AM on the following day.

The capture formula, and why potions matter

Origin publishes the maths behind captures, and understanding it saves wasted potions.

Success chance = base rate + potion bonus − resistance, with a floor of zero.

Three things follow from that:

  • A 0% success chance isn't bad luck — it's the wrong potion. If a pet's resistance exceeds your base rate plus your potion's bonus, the result is mathematically zero. No number of attempts fixes it; a higher-tier potion does.
  • Weakening the target still matters, because base rate rises as HP falls. Getting a pet as close to zero as possible without killing it is the difference between a coin flip and a wasted potion.
  • Bind your potions to a quick slot before starting either capture. Both encounters end in a narrow window where you need the potion immediately, and menu-diving in that moment is how pets die.

Pet types at a glance

  • Ride — ground mounts, higher speed, best for long overland travel.
  • Flight — horizontal and vertical movement, the slowest option but the most freedom. Consumes stamina while flying.
  • Glide — descent and gap-crossing.
  • Summon — purely cosmetic companions. No mounting, no gameplay effect.

Royal Steed is Ride. Honey Bumblephant is Flight.

Royal Steed earns its keep beyond travel

Most pets in Origin are movement tools and nothing more. The Royal Steed isn't.

It can be assigned to Pet Expedition to farm Morion Ore in the Ravens Region.

That makes it a progression asset rather than just a mount — and a stronger argument for prioritising it over the Bumblephant if you only have time for one this week.

Which to catch first

Royal Steed, for most players:

  • Ride pets are faster on the ground than Flight pets and don't burn stamina.
  • Its capture is a single chase, not a multi-step trail.
  • Pet Expedition gives it a resource role the Bumblephant doesn't have.
  • You'll be in Ravens anyway — the region opens with Version 2.0.

The Honey Bumblephant is the better collection piece. It's a Flight pet, so it gives you vertical traversal, and its summoning chain is more interesting to actually do. But if you're catching one this week, the Steed does more work.

What isn't published

  • Exact capture rates and resistance values for either pet, so which potion tier you need can't be calculated in advance.
  • Full stat lines for both.
  • Whether either pet has active or passive skills beyond traversal and expedition use.
  • Whether they'll be obtainable after the Half Anniversary Festival ends, or whether they're permanent additions.

That last one is worth checking in-game. Wild-capture pets in Origin are generally permanent, but these arrived tied to a festival update, and nothing published confirms they stay.

Version 2.0 context

The pets arrive as part of Version 2.0, the Half Anniversary Festival update, which also brings Ban as a playable SSR and opens the Ravens region — the same area where the Royal Steed spawns and where its Pet Expedition route runs.

If you're catching the Steed, you'll be in Ravens anyway.

Building the account behind the hunt

Both captures need a character strong enough to bring a boss to near-zero HP without overshooting, plus the crafting progress to have decent Charm Potions on hand — which is the slow half of Origin, not the catching.
