Reverse: 1999 Version 3.8 The Temporal Scale: What's Coming Sept 24
By Michael Pras 10 September 2026, 16:00 WIB
Reverse: 1999's Version 3.8, subtitled The Temporal Scale, launches September 24 (UTC-5), and developer Bluepoch has laid out the update through its latest Devs Broadcast. Alongside the new story chapter and Arcanist, the update reshapes the game's Beginner Banner, kicks off a two-phase sign-in event, and lines up a run of quality-of-life changes heading into Version 3.9. Here's what's actually changing.
The Story: A Return to Shattered Ground
Version 3.8 follows the Foundation's last remaining architect as she returns to her homeland alongside a strict supervisor, searching for a potential "Point Irreversible" in the aftermath of the first Storm that shattered the world Timekeepers once knew. Bluepoch frames the walls of this homeland as holding more than forgotten memories — the update's narrative pitch centers on whether there's still hope left to shelter everyone gathered under the dome. The chapter arrives alongside a new Arcanist, though specific kit details weren't part of this broadcast.
The Temporal Scale Sign-In Event
Running through the version, the [The Temporal Scale] sign-in event is split into two phases and adds up to a total of 14 Unilog for players who log in and claim rewards across the event's duration. Unilog is Reverse: 1999's premium summon currency, so this functions as a straightforward log-in incentive tied to the new chapter rather than a gacha or crafting system layered on top of it.
Beginner Banner Gets a Full Refresh
The bigger structural change in 3.8 is to the Beginner Banner — the discounted, higher-rate summon banner new players use to build an early roster. The three 6-star characters currently featured on the [The First Drop of Rain] banner, Jessica, Melania, and Druvis III, are being swapped out for Semmelweis, Mercuria, and A Knight. Once Version 3.8 goes live, the original banner closes and reopens under the new character pool.
To soften the transition, Bluepoch is sending every player who registered before the 3.8 update and logs in during the version a gift of 30 Unitone (the currency used specifically on this banner) via in-game mail, with a guarantee of pulling at least one 6-star character from the refreshed pool. That reward applies to existing players catching the new banner for the first time, not just new accounts starting fresh.
Third Anniversary Rewards (Starting October 1)
Reverse: 1999 is marking three years live, and Bluepoch is running a separate anniversary gift starting October 1 (UTC-5) to thank players for sticking around. Logging in during the claim window sends a Garment Chest: Sincere Gratitude, a Cocoon of Myths, a Gluttony item, and a Crystal Casket via in-game mail.
The Garment Chest is the piece worth understanding: it lets you select any non-collaboration garment that was available in the Garment Shop before Version 3.7, spanning Unique-, Advanced-, and Garment-tier items. If you already own the garment you'd otherwise pick, selecting it converts the chest into Crystal Drops of equivalent value instead — 1,680 Crystal Drops for an already-owned Unique-tier garment, which can then go toward new garments released in Version 3.7 and beyond. In short, the chest never goes to waste even if your collection is already fairly complete.
Devs Broadcast Login Gift
Separate from both the sign-in event and the anniversary rewards, Bluepoch is sending out a standard Devs Broadcast gift of 120 Clear Drops and 1 Jar of Picrasma Candy. This one was sent out starting September 9 and stays claimable for 14 days, so it's worth checking in-game mail soon if you haven't already grabbed it — it's on its own clock, separate from the anniversary period.
Challenge Mode: Friend Assist Is Coming
Bluepoch says it has been tracking player feedback about how much character investment certain Challenge Mode stages demand, and has already adjusted difficulty on a few of them in past updates. The next step is a Friend Assist feature, letting you bring in help from a friend's roster for tougher stages. Because it needs more development time, it won't land with 3.8 — Bluepoch is targeting Version 3.9 for the initial rollout, with plans to extend it to existing Challenge Modes like Mane's Bulletin and Focused Flashback in updates after that.
Quality-of-Life Changes on the Way
Two more QoL updates are planned for Version 3.9 rather than 3.8:
- Euphoria system UI improvements — a new Euphoria Effect Preview will let you check what an upgrade actually does before spending resources on it, and a new Euphoria Mode category is being added to the character filter to make sorting and managing your roster easier.
- Paper Trail feature — addressing feedback that Trail markers on the stage selection screen are easy to miss and can't be reviewed once a Trail is completed, Bluepoch is improving marker visibility and adding a Paper Trail feature that lets you look back at Trails you've already finished.
Neither change ships with The Temporal Scale itself, but both are confirmed for the version right after it.
What to Expect on September 24
Between the new chapter, the Beginner Banner swap, and two separate login rewards running on different timers (the anniversary gift from October 1, and the Devs Broadcast gift already live through late September), there's a fair amount to track heading into Version 3.8. Returning players in particular should make sure they log in during the version to catch the free Unitone pulls on the refreshed Beginner Banner, since that reward is tied to the update window rather than being permanent.
