NTE Confirms Akane Rin as S-Class: The StarSign Bartender
By Rivan Wi 25 August 2026, 16:00 WIB
Akane Rin is joining the playable roster of Neverness to Everness. Hotta Studio confirmed it on 24 August 2026 through a Hethereau Special Bulletin on NTE's Global channel, showing her preview card marked S-Class and the line that suits her better than any kit description could: she's not late, is she? Well then — showtime.
She's the second S-Class confirmation in roughly twenty-four hours, following Blackbird the previous day. That pairing matters, and not only because it doubles the roster news. It also puts a widely circulated leak into an unusual position: half-proven and half-unverified at the same time. Here's what's actually been confirmed, who Akane Rin is for players who haven't run her story, and what the double reveal does and doesn't tell you about what's coming.
What the bulletin confirms
Four things:
- Akane Rin is becoming playable. Her status had been genuinely open, not merely undated.
- She is S-Class, marked directly on the preview card.
- Her drip marketing cycle has begun, which is the studio's standard runway toward a full reveal.
- The announcement came through the Global channel, so it applies to the Global release rather than being regional news awaiting a port.
Her Esper type, class, skills, banner and release version remain unannounced.
Who Akane Rin is
If you've reached Hunter Level 22, you've almost certainly met her. That's the threshold that automatically triggers A Legendary(?) Band's First Page, the Version 1.0 spinoff story built around the underground music scene in Illusion Town.
Akane Rin runs the bar at StarSign, a small but well-regarded live house on Davidia Avenue. She's a vocalist and guitarist with a former band behind her, and across the spinoff she becomes the de facto manager of the group formed by the Appraiser, Haniel and Nanally — training Haniel on drums, opening the venue for rehearsals before hours, and keeping a chaotic band on schedule. StarSign functions as the home base for every step of that arc, and the quest is gated by the in-game clock, which is why players routinely stall on it if they wait in the world rather than advancing the Time System manually.
She's voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa in Japanese and Cristina Vee in English.
There's a neat piece of timing here: Nanally's rerun banner is live right now, running alongside Version 1.3's first phase. One of the band's members is pullable this week, and the manager who put that band together has just been confirmed as a future one.
Two reveals, one leak, and what each proves
This is where precision matters more than enthusiasm.
The leak in circulation made three separate claims: that Blackbird and Akane Rin would be Version 1.4's limited S-Class characters, that they'd carry Psyche and Lakshana Esper typings respectively, and that they'd split across the version's two halves.
Two days of official bulletins have now confirmed the names. Both characters are playable and both are S-Class. That's genuine corroboration, and it raises the credibility of the source more than a single hit would.
It does not confirm the typings, the version, or the ordering. Those remain unverified, and they're the most fragile parts of any roadmap leak. Names tend to come from character models and beta strings, which are relatively solid evidence that a character is in development. Version assignments and phase ordering are usually inference layered on top of that — which is exactly why characters routinely slide between versions while the leak that named them still gets remembered as correct.
Put plainly: a leak that correctly named two characters has not thereby proven that Akane Rin is a Lakshana Esper arriving in the second half of Version 1.4. Treat that as unverified until Hotta Studio runs the 1.4 Preview Special Program, which is historically where kits, banner windows and dates stop being speculation.
Worth flagging separately: several third-party databases have published complete character pages for both of these Espers — builds, skill listings, tier placements — despite no skills having been released for either. Those pages aren't sourced from a kit, because there isn't one.
What S-Class means for your reserve
For newcomers: Espers are NTE's playable characters, Riftcrystals are the pull currency, and Esper types sort characters into Lakshana, Cosmos, Anima, Incantation, Chaos and Psyche, with a separate class layer covering gas, solid, liquid, plasma and synthesis.
The structural detail that governs planning is this: NTE runs a no-50/50 banner system with pity carryover between banners. Accumulated pity progress transfers forward rather than resetting, and there's no coin flip handing you an off-banner S-Class in place of the one you wanted.
The consequence is genuinely favourable and worth stating outright: saving for a character with no announced date costs you nothing. In most gacha titles, banking toward an unscheduled unit risks that reserve being spent inefficiently on the way. Here, progress persists. If Akane Rin is someone you intend to pull, accumulating now carries no penalty whatsoever — even though nobody outside Hotta Studio knows what she does.
The NPC-to-playable pattern
Neither of this week's reveals is a departure. Version 1.3 made Zankou playable — the game's first playable antagonist, previously fought as a story boss — and her banner, Alluring Shadows, is running now through 9 September. Unlocking her automatically grants the Red Nightshade outfit from her quest line.
Hotta Studio has shown a consistent willingness to convert established NPCs into pullable Espers, which is why the Blackbird and Akane Rin speculation read as plausible long before this week's confirmations. The pattern is real.
What the pattern doesn't establish is any specific treatment for Akane Rin — a free outfit, a comparable banner length, a phase position. Reading Zankou's rollout as a template for hers is guesswork.
What isn't known
- Her Esper type. Unannounced. The Lakshana claim is a leak.
- Her class — gas, solid, liquid, plasma or synthesis. Unannounced.
- Her skills, Esper abilities and combat role. Nothing published.
- Her banner name, window or version. Unannounced.
- Whether an outfit accompanies her unlock, as Zankou's did.
- Her weapon banner and recommended modules. Not published.
What to do before the reveal
Bank Riftcrystals. With carryover pity and no 50/50, accumulation is risk-free even without a date.
Run the band spinoff if you haven't. A Legendary(?) Band's First Page is the story that gives her reveal its weight, it's available now, and clearing it before her banner turns a name on a card into a character you actually know. Hunter Level 22 is the trigger.
Don't plan teams around her. With no Esper type or class, synergy planning isn't possible. Any Akane Rin team composition published today was invented.
Keep clearing 1.3. Zankou's window closes on 9 September and Linko's opens the same day, running to 30 September. Event content that shuts cannot be revisited regardless of what 1.4 brings.
Watch for the 1.4 preview program. That broadcast converts this from a confirmation story into a build conversation — and it's also where the leak's remaining claims get settled one way or the other.
Building the account behind the reveal
Akane Rin will land on an account that has to be ready for her, and NTE spreads progression across more systems than most of its peers — Esper training and anomaly investigation alongside vehicles, businesses and property development.
