Honor of Kings Wang Wei Guide: Skills, Best Build & Combos
By Sir Ayup
This Honor of Kings Wang Wei guide covers the newest Mid Lane Mage, who joined the global server on Thursday, October 8, 2026, during Season 16. Wang Wei controls fights with mountain zones and river currents, dodges damage with his mist passive and can cross the entire map with his Ultimate. At gamemarket.gg, we broke down his skills, the build and Arcana the community recommends, his best combos and the mistakes that get new Wang Wei players caught out.
Wang Wei at a Glance

- Role: Mage
- Lane: Mid Lane
- Global release: October 8, 2026
- Playstyle: zone control, sustained poke and map-wide roaming
- Season: Season 16, Flow as One
When Wang Wei first appeared on the Chinese test server, much of his kit was still unclear, as our early Wang Wei preview showed. Now that he is live globally, the full picture is much easier to read.
Wang Wei's Skills Explained

Skill names may appear slightly differently depending on your client language.
Passive: Shifting Mists
Wang Wei gains mist marks over time. At 5 marks, he dodges the next instance of damage, including turret shots. It does not block crowd control, so a stun still lands. Marks recover faster while he stands in his Skill 1 zone or right after his Ultimate.
Skill 1: Misty Mountain
Creates a mountain zone that deals magic damage and slows enemies inside it, then explodes after a short delay. This is your main source of zone control and your best place to stand in a fight.
Skill 2: Endless River
Sends a river current that deals magic damage and knocks enemies back, splitting into streams that chase targets. The key interaction: if the current passes through Misty Mountain, it pulls enemies toward the centre of the zone, setting up the explosion.
Ultimate: One With All
The first cast sends Wang Wei's spirit across the map, passing through walls, for about 10 seconds. Recasting teleports him to the spirit, dealing multi-hit damage where he lands. While the Ultimate is active, his Skill 1 and Skill 2 change form.
The catch is that his real body stays behind while the spirit travels, and it can be attacked or crowd-controlled. Always cast the first stage from a safe position.
Best Build for Wang Wei

The community's recommended build for sustained poke and teamfight damage:
- Boots of Tranquility, or Boots of the Arcane for more penetration
- Venomous Staff
- Mask of Agony
- Insatiable Tome
- Frozen Breath
- Void Staff
Boots of Tranquility suit Wang Wei because his damage comes from cycling Skill 1 and Skill 2 repeatedly, so cooldown reduction directly increases his output. Swap to Boots of the Arcane if the enemy team stacks magic defence. Void Staff comes last to keep your damage relevant against tanky late-game frontlines.
Arcana and Spell

- Arcana: 10 Nightmare, 10 Tribute, 10 Hunt
- Spell: Flash
Flash covers the weakness of a Mage whose only mobility is a long Ultimate. It lets you escape a dive or reposition for a better Misty Mountain angle.
Season 16's Flow State, a season-limited common skill that cuts all current cooldowns by 50%, is also worth testing in place of your usual spell, since few heroes benefit from instant cooldowns as much as a cooldown-hungry Mage like Wang Wei.
Best Wang Wei Combos
Combo 1: Lane poke (Skill 1, Skill 2)
Place Misty Mountain on the enemy, then send Endless River through it to pull them into the centre before it explodes. This is your bread-and-butter trade in lane.
Combo 2: Teamfight engage (Ultimate, recast, Skill 1, Skill 2)
Send your spirit toward the fight, recast to land on the enemy backline, then drop Misty Mountain and push enemies into it with Endless River. Only use this when your real body is safe.
Combo 3: Finishing low-HP targets (Skill 1, Skill 2, Ultimate)
Damage and slow with your zone and current first, then use the Ultimate to chase a fleeing target across walls.
How to Play Wang Wei
Laning phase
- Push the wave with Skill 1 and Skill 2, then look for roams.
- Keep 5 mist marks before trading so you can dodge a key spell.
- Respect crowd control, because your passive will not save you from it.
Mid and late game
- Use the Ultimate to join fights in other lanes or to steal kills.
- Hide your real body in a bush or behind your team before casting.
- Fight inside Misty Mountain to recover passive marks faster.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Strong zone control and pull setup with the Skill 1 and Skill 2 interaction
- Map-wide pressure through the Ultimate
- Damage dodge from the passive, including turret shots
- Comfortable into immobile mages who struggle to escape his zones
Weaknesses
- No protection from crowd control
- Real body is vulnerable during the Ultimate
- Limited mobility outside the Ultimate
- Punished by assassins who can reach him once the passive is used
These weaknesses matter less when you play the Mid Lane the way your team expects, clearing waves quickly and rotating with your jungler, which is the core of the five lane roles in Honor of Kings.
Your Wang Wei Checklist
- Learn the Skill 1 and Skill 2 pull, which is the core of his kit.
- Build cooldown reduction early with Boots of Tranquility.
- Run 10 Nightmare, 10 Tribute and 10 Hunt Arcana.
- Keep 5 mist marks before risky trades.
- Cast the Ultimate from safety and protect your real body.
- Avoid crowd control, since the passive will not dodge it.
Wang Wei rewards patient players who set up their zones and pick the right moment to cross the map. Master the mountain-and-river pull, keep your real body safe during the Ultimate, and he becomes one of the most disruptive Mages in Season 16.
