HSR Relic Crafting: When Self-Modeling Resin Is Worth Using
By Sir Ayup
Farming a domain for days and still missing one main stat is the moment most players look up how to craft relics in HSR. The answer sits in the Omni-Synthesizer: 100 Relic Remains buy a 5-star piece from the set and slot you choose, and Self-Modeling Resin lets you pick its main stat and, since Version 3.5, lock in substats too. The real question is when that resin deserves to be spent and when farming is still the smarter move.
This guide from gamemarket.gg explains how relic crafting works, what Self-Modeling Resin changes, what it costs, which pieces deserve it and when farming is still the smarter choice.
How to Craft Relics in HSR
Crafting turns spare materials into a targeted piece instead of another random domain drop. The Relic section of the Omni-Synthesizer opens at Trailblaze Level 40.
- Open the Synthesizer from the phone menu.
- Go to the Relic tab and choose a set. Cavern Relic sets and Planar Ornament sets are both listed here.
- Pick the slot you want: Head, Hands, Body or Feet for Cavern Relics, or Planar Sphere and Link Rope for Planar Ornaments.
- Confirm the craft for 100 Relic Remains.
Without resin, the result is a coin flip: the set and slot are yours, but the main stat and substats are random. Relic Remains come from salvaging unwanted 5-star relics, so every piece you scrap feeds the next craft.
What Self-Modeling Resin Changes
Self-Modeling Resin turns a random craft into a targeted one. Before you confirm, a Customized Synthesis option lets you choose the stats, and the resin cost scales with how much you lock in:
- Main stat only: 1 Self-Modeling Resin.
- Main stat plus one substat: 2 Self-Modeling Resin in total.
- Main stat plus two substats: 5 Self-Modeling Resin in total.
The craft still costs 100 Relic Remains on top. Version 3.5 merged the old Wishful Resin into Self-Modeling Resin at a 1:1 rate, which is why one item now covers both the main stat and the substats.
Two details catch new players out. Head and Hands always roll flat HP and flat ATK, so resin does nothing for them. And any substats you do not lock, plus every upgrade roll after you level the piece, stay random.
How to Get Self-Modeling Resin
Resin is scarce, which is exactly why it should go to your biggest bottleneck. The main sources are:
- Nameless Honor, the battle pass, which places resin on both the free and paid tracks. The full breakdown of Nameless Honor tracks and rewards shows where it sits.
- Limited events, which hand out resin from time to time.
- The Omni-Synthesizer exchange, which converts a large pile of Relic Remains into resin, with a monthly cap.
Exact quantities and caps can shift between versions, so the in-game shop and event pages are the final word.
Which Pieces Deserve the Resin
Some main stats drop so rarely that crafting them beats weeks of farming. In rough order of impact:
- Energy Regeneration Rope, when it actually moves a support's Ultimate timing.
- SPD Feet, when they fix turn order or hit a real speed target.
- Planar Sphere with the right Elemental DMG, once the build is settled.
- Body with CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Effect Hit Rate or Outgoing Healing, when that stat is what the build is missing.
- Break Effect Rope, for Break teams with a confirmed target.
Knowing which sets and main stats each slot can roll makes it easier to spot the pieces that are genuinely hard to farm.
When Resin Is Worth Using and When to Keep Farming
Resin is a fixer, not a shortcut for every slot. It pays off when:
- A character you use every day is stuck because of one missing main stat.
- You have run the domain many times without the piece dropping.
- The build is final, not something you might change next patch.
Farming is still the better call when the main stat is common, your current piece already works, or the character is a maybe. Farming costs Trailblaze Power, and Planar Ornaments can also come from weekly Deep Immersifier extractions without spending energy at all. Many players keep at least one resin in reserve for a new character's emergency piece, and only spend five-resin crafts on long-term mains.
Make Every Craft Count
Relic crafting rewards patience: scrap freely, save resin for the stat that blocks a build, and let the domain cover the rest. If you are still deciding who deserves those resources, the HSR beginner's guide to Warps, characters and Stellar Jade helps set priorities first.
