HSR Memory of Chaos Stormcleanse Starts 17 August: What to Do Now
By Michael Pras 11 August 2026, 00:00 WIB
The next Memory of Chaos rotation, Stormcleanse, begins on 17 August — and the more urgent half of that sentence is what it means for the phase running right now. The current rotation ends the moment Stormcleanse starts, taking every unclaimed reward with it. A full clear is worth roughly 800 Stellar Jade, close to a complete standard warp pull, and it does not roll over. Stormcleanse's Memory Turbulence buff hasn't been published yet, so team recommendations will have to wait — but the clearing you should be doing this week doesn't depend on knowing it. Here's the reward maths, the deadline, and how to prepare a roster that handles whatever the new buff turns out to be.
What happens on 17 August
A Memory of Chaos rotation swaps three things at once:
- New enemy line-ups across all twelve stages
- A new Memory Turbulence, the passive buff that shapes which teams work
- A reward reset, meaning the Stellar Jade you haven't claimed becomes claimable again — and the Jade you had claimable and didn't take is simply gone
That last point is the deadline. Rewards reset, they don't accumulate.
The reward maths
Worth spelling out, because plenty of players clear stages 1 through 8 and stop without realising what's sitting above them:
- Every 3 stars: 60 Stellar Jade and 20,000 Credits, up to a maximum of 45 stars
- From 21 insignias upward: Jade Feathers, spendable in the Priceless Jewels shop inside the Forgotten Hall
- From 27 stars upward: an additional 20 Stellar Jade per 3 stars
- Stage 12 carries a bonus Starward Mode. Clearing Stage 12 alongside the Starward stage within the cycle limit and earning the Prismatic Star pays an extra 100 Stellar Jade, 100 Jade Feathers and 20,000 Credits
Every stage cleared also drops Lost Crystal, Lucent Afterglow, Traveler's Guide, Refined Aether and Credits.
Totalled, a full-star cycle is around 800 Stellar Jade. Missing one rotation is not a small loss — it's most of a pull, every six weeks, compounding.
Clear the current rotation this week
Before the 17th:
- Push to at least 27 stars if you can. That's where the bonus Jade tier begins, and it's the highest-value threshold most accounts can reach.
- Attempt Stage 12's Starward Mode. The Prismatic Star bonus is a flat 100 Jade for a single additional clear.
- Check both team slots. Memory of Chaos requires two separate teams for the two encounters, and a stage lost because your second team was an afterthought is a stage lost to preparation, not difficulty.
- Don't leave it to the final evening. Reset happens on a Monday at 04:00 server time, and server time isn't your time.
Reset timing by server
The America server runs on UTC-5, Europe on UTC+1, and Asia on UTC+8. Check which applies to your account and count backwards from 04:00 on 17 August in that timezone — for some regions that means the deadline effectively falls on the 16th.
Why the Memory Turbulence decides everything
For anyone newer to the mode: Memory Turbulence is the passive buff applied to every stage in a rotation, and it changes completely between phases. It is not a minor bonus — it usually determines which archetype clears comfortably and which struggles.
Two examples from past rotations show the range:
- One phase gave allies a stacking point every time they attacked, which fed a cycle-start True damage nuke. That rotation rewarded teams that attack frequently, regardless of how hard each hit landed.
- Another gave 50% Crit DMG to Ultimates, with each Ultimate adding stacks to the Turbulence. That rotation rewarded Ultimate-centric teams and did comparatively little for sustained-damage builds.
The practical consequence: a static tier list is a poor guide to Memory of Chaos. The right team for Stormcleanse depends on a buff nobody outside HoYoverse has seen yet, and the units that dominated the last rotation may be ordinary in this one.
That's also why it's worth waiting a few days after the 17th before committing Trace materials or relic rolls to a specific carry for this content.
Prepare depth, not a single carry
The one preparation that always pays, regardless of the buff: two functional teams.
Memory of Chaos asks for two separate line-ups because the two encounters can't share characters. Most accounts that stall at 27 or 30 stars don't have a damage problem — they have a second team problem. One immaculate team plus three leftover units clears half the content.
Practical checks before the 17th:
- Do you have two sustain units? A healer or shielder in each team is the most common gap.
- Do you have two damage dealers of different elements? Enemy weaknesses vary per stage and the elements you need are rarely the same in both halves.
- Is your second team's gear actually usable, or is it wearing relics you abandoned six months ago?
Improving the weaker half of your roster raises your star count more reliably than deepening the stronger half. If your account is still building that base, our catch-up guide covers building a functional core rather than chasing individual units.
Mind your Jade budget
One scheduling note: the Fate collaboration banners for Rin Tohsaka and Gilgamesh remain available through the end of Version 4.6, and the free 5-star selector is claimable that whole time — so the Jade you bank from this rotation has somewhere to go. Our Fate Collab Part 2 coverage covers how the collab warps and their separate pity pool work.
Clearing Memory of Chaos every rotation is one of the steadiest Jade income streams in the game. Eight hundred Jade every six weeks is roughly five pulls per cycle for content you'd be capable of clearing anyway.
After the 17th
Once Stormcleanse goes live, the Memory Turbulence and enemy line-ups become visible immediately. That's the point at which team recommendations become real rather than speculative — and we'll cover the buff, the Stage 12 bosses and the teams that handle them once it's live.
