The 8th Anniversary Showcase aired on 22 August, and its headline is a crossover that costs Smilegate nothing in licensing: Epic Seven is collaborating with Chaos Zero Nightmare, Super Creative's other flagship title. Lenoa, Haru and Meilin all arrive as playable Epic Seven heroes — and crucially, a Moonlight version of Lenoa is free during the event, with only Haru and Meilin gated behind limited summons. Alongside the collaboration came a Steam release, a new side story revisiting the earliest point in the game's timeline, new roguelike content, and the E7WC 2026 schedule. Here's everything announced.

The collaboration

Three CZN characters join Epic Seven:

  • Lenoa — a Moonlight version available free during the event
  • Haru — obtainable through limited summons
  • Meilin — obtainable through limited summons

A free Moonlight hero is the standout. Moonlight units are ordinarily among the harder acquisitions in Epic Seven, and receiving one at no cost through event participation is a materially better deal than a standard collaboration giveaway.

Haru and Meilin behind limited summons is the expected structure, and worth budgeting for separately.

Why this crossover has no expiry pressure

Worth stating clearly, because it changes how urgently you should treat it.

Both games are made by Super Creative, under Smilegate. Chaos Zero Nightmare comes from the same studio that built Epic Seven — a fact that shows in CZN's art style and its shared gacha architecture.

That means no external licence governs this collaboration. Anime crossovers expire because deals expire; a first-party crossover between two titles under one roof faces no such constraint. That doesn't guarantee the units return, and limited-time content remains limited-time — but the usual "this may never come back because the rights lapse" pressure genuinely doesn't apply here.

Who Lenoa, Haru and Meilin are

For Heirs who haven't played CZN: it's a roguelike deck-building RPG set after Earth's destruction in an event called the Chaos incident. Where Epic Seven runs on fixed hero skills and stat-driven rotations, CZN builds individual skill decks per agent, closer in spirit to Slay the Spire than to a conventional turn-based gacha.

That difference matters for the collaboration, because it raises an interesting question: whether these three arrive as conventional Epic Seven heroes with fixed skills, or whether anything of CZN's card system comes with them. The showcase confirmed them as playable heroes — the mechanical detail will become clear when their kits are published.

Everything else from the showcase

New side story: 'Paradise Lost' — revisiting the 1st Era, the earliest point in the Epic Seven timeline. For a game eight years into its story, going back to the beginning is a notable narrative choice.

Two new heroes debut, including Lizette, described as a manifestation of the Goddess Diche.

New roguelike modes — an interesting addition given the studio's other title is built entirely on that structure.

Steam release — the Steam page is now live, opening a new platform for the game.

Massive free summons and exclusive anniversary gear were confirmed as part of the celebration, though specific totals weren't broken out in the showcase coverage.

Offline events and E7WC

For anyone in Korea, or following the competitive scene:

'Succession of Eternity' — the 8th-anniversary offline event, held 29 August on the 12th floor of Sinchon Hyundai Department Store. 160 guests will be invited, with ticket registration opening 24 August.

A collaboration cafe runs 29 August to 30 September at the B1 and B2 levels of the same location.

E7WC 2026 — qualifiers begin 12 September, with the finals on 28 November at the Lotte World Tower Superplex in Jamsil.

What this means for your current spending

The timing is worth thinking about, because the showcase landed while the previous event cycle was still closing.

Secret Summer ended 26 August and Epic Dash on 27 August — which means the showcase arrived before those deadlines, exactly as the schedule allowed. Anyone who held their resources until Saturday made the right call.

Now that the announcements are public, three priorities emerge:

Claim the free Moonlight Lenoa. It costs participation, not currency, and Moonlight units don't usually arrive free.

Budget separately for Haru and Meilin. Two limited summons in one collaboration is a real cost, and the free unit doesn't offset it.

Factor in the two new anniversary heroes. Lizette and the second debut compete for the same reserves as the collaboration units — and anniversary heroes and collaboration heroes have historically had different long-term availability.

For CZN players looking the other way

If you play Chaos Zero Nightmare rather than Epic Seven, this is still relevant — these are your characters appearing elsewhere.

Whether the traffic runs both ways is the open question. A reciprocal event bringing Epic Seven heroes into CZN hasn't been announced, and first-party crossovers often run in both directions eventually. Worth watching.

CZN's own Season 4 is running its three-banner Instinct cycle at present — our Arabella preview covers the current schedule and why the Seasonal availability tag matters for budgeting.

What to do now

  1. Participate in the collaboration event for free Moonlight Lenoa. This is the clearest value on the list.
  2. Decide between Haru and Meilin if your reserves won't cover both.
  3. Play 'Paradise Lost' — side stories in Epic Seven typically carry meaningful reward tracks alongside the narrative.
  4. Check the Steam version if you'd rather play on PC.
  5. Register for the offline event from 24 August if you're in Korea and want one of the 160 places.

For what was still claimable in the lead-up to the anniversary, our Secret Summer guide covers the free Moonlight summons and Epic Dash selectors that funded this period.

Build the account the anniversary rewards

Free Moonlight units and collaboration heroes only pay off when the gear, catalysts and roster behind them can field what you claim — and that infrastructure is the slow half of Epic Seven.
