eFootball Boosters: How Booster Cards Raise Player Ratings
By Sir Ayup
An eFootball booster is a bonus that raises a group of a player's stats on top of their normal training, usually by +1 or +2 to each stat in the group. Boosters come built into many special cards, such as Epic, Big Time and other featured players, and you can add a second booster to some cards through Booster Crafting with booster tokens. Because each boost applies to several stats at once, a booster can lift a player's overall rating and even push key stats past the usual 99 cap.
This guide explains how eFootball boosters work, the different ways to get them, how Booster Crafting and tokens work, and how to pick the right booster for each player.
What an eFootball Booster Does
A booster is a fixed set of stat increases attached to a player card:
- It targets a group of related stats, such as finishing and kicking power, or speed and acceleration.
- Each stat in the group gets the same boost, usually +1 or +2.
- It applies on top of training, so a fully trained player still gains the booster.
- It can raise the overall rating, especially when the boosted stats matter for the player's position.
The effect on a single stat looks small, but a booster improves several stats at once, which is why a boosted card often feels sharper on the pitch than a similar card without one. Understanding how ratings, playing styles and skills relate makes it easier to see where a booster will help most.
Where Boosters Come From

There are three main sources of boosters in eFootball:
- Built-in card boosters. Many special cards, including Epic and Big Time players, come with a booster already attached. This is often what separates a top card from a standard version of the same player.
- Booster Crafting. Special and Epic cards can unlock a second booster slot, which you fill using booster tokens.
- Manager boosters. Some managers add their own small stat boosts, such as +1 to two stats, on top of their team playstyle proficiency. Check each manager's details to see what they boost.
Because the best boosters usually come attached to special cards, knowing every route to Epic players is often the first step to a squad full of boosted players.
Common Booster Types

Boosters are grouped by the kind of stats they improve. Common examples include:
- Accuracy: kicking power, finishing, low pass and lofted pass.
- Technique: ball control, dribbling, tight possession and low pass.
- Agility: speed, acceleration, balance and stamina.
- Free-Kick Taking: finishing, set piece taking, curl and kicking power.
- Shutdown: tackling, speed, defensive awareness and defensive engagement.
- Goalkeeping: the main goalkeeper stats, such as reflexes, catching and parrying.
The list of booster types grows over time, so check the in-game booster screen to see every option and the exact stats each one affects.
How Booster Crafting Works

Booster Crafting lets you add a second booster to eligible cards:
- Open My Team and select the player.
- Choose Booster Crafting from the player menu.
- Pick a token type to fill the empty slot.
There are two kinds of tokens:
- Random Booster Tokens: fill the slot with a random booster. They are rare and come from events, challenges and campaigns.
- Select Booster Tokens: let you choose the exact booster you want, but you need a large number of them for one craft. You earn them from events and by releasing duplicate or unwanted special players.
Because Select tokens take time to collect, save them for players you will use for a long time, such as your main striker or a key midfielder. Using a random token on a fringe player is a reasonable gamble, but not on your best card.
How to Choose the Right Booster

Match the booster to the player's role:
- Strikers: Accuracy or Free-Kick Taking for finishing and shot power.
- Wingers and attacking midfielders: Technique or Agility for dribbling, control and pace.
- Central midfielders: Technique for passing and control, or a passing-focused booster.
- Defenders: Shutdown for tackling, speed and defensive awareness.
- Goalkeepers: Goalkeeping.
Before applying a booster, check the preview on the booster screen. It shows exactly which stats change and by how much, so you can compare options side by side. Pair this with your training plan for each player, since the booster works best when your progression points already support the same role.
Common Mistakes
- Using Select tokens on players you will soon replace.
- Choosing a booster for the wrong role, such as Shutdown on an attacking midfielder.
- Judging a card only by overall rating, without checking which stats the booster actually raises.
- Forgetting manager boosters, which add small but free gains across your squad.
Building a Boosted Squad
Boosters are one layer of squad building, alongside cards, training and Coins. If you are still learning the basics, it helps to understand how player cards, Coins and squads work together before spending tokens.
If you would rather start with boosted cards already in your squad, you can browse eFootball Accounts with Epic and Big Time players, hand events and campaigns to a player through eFootball Hourly Services, or reach division and event goals faster with eFootball Boosting.
