Clash Royale Shocktober 2026: New Hero, Evolution & Balance Changes
By Sir Ayup 7 October 2026, 12:00 WIB
Clash Royale Season 88 "Shocktober" went live on October 5, 2026, and both of its headline additions are built around control rather than raw damage. Hero Electro Wizard locks enemies down with a stun that repeats every half second, while Electro Giant Evolution shrinks the level of every enemy troop near it. Here at GameMarket.gg, the detail we would point out first is that one of those two can be earned for free. The Electro Giant Evolution comes from completing the Shocktober Album Event, while Hero Electro Wizard sits behind the Diamond Pass or Hero Coins. This guide covers both new cards, the Pass Royale rewards, the October balance changes and what to prioritise this month.
Season 88 at a Glance

- Start date: October 5, 2026.
- New Hero: Hero Electro Wizard, with the ability Surging Strikes.
- New Evolution: Electro Giant, with the ability Level Damper.
- Album Event: the Shocktober Album Event, which unlocks Evo Electro Giant for free.
- Boosted cards: Electro Wizard, Electro Giant, Electro Spirit and Goblinstein.
- Tower skins: the Shocktober Tower Skin and a Radio Tower Skin.
Hero Electro Wizard and Surging Strikes

Hero Electro Wizard keeps the same base stats as the regular Electro Wizard. What changes is the ability.
Surging Strikes costs 2 Elixir and fires twin beams of electricity at nearby enemies for about three seconds. Each beam stuns its target every 0.5 seconds, and the ability can hit two targets at once within 5 tiles. At Tournament Standard, the first two strikes deal 138 damage each and later strikes deal 153, with a 50% reduction against Crown Towers.
The damage is not the point. A stun that refreshes every half second can keep a target locked down for the full three seconds, which makes the ability strongest against big single threats and pairs of troops pushing together. Used on defence, it buys your other cards time to finish the job.
There are two ways to get him:
- Diamond Pass: Hero Electro Wizard is one choice at the first premium milestone, alongside 6 Evolution Wild Shards, 1,500 Rare Wild Cards or 150 Epic Wild Cards.
- Hero Coins: he can also be unlocked from the claim pool for 200 Hero Coins.
Because the Diamond Pass milestone offers alternatives, picking the Hero means passing on those Wild Shards or cards. If you already plan to collect 200 Hero Coins, you can take the Hero that way and use the milestone for something else.
Electro Giant Evolution and Level Damper

Level Damper is the most unusual mechanic of the season. Every six seconds, the Evolved Electro Giant releases an electric pulse with a 6-tile radius that lowers the level of every enemy troop it catches by one, down to a minimum of Level 1.
A single level drop reduces a troop's hit points and damage by about 9%. The pulse deals no damage of its own, and because it counts as an area effect rather than a projectile, it cannot be deflected. Affected troops also shrink by 20% visually, though that change is cosmetic and does not affect how they play.
Two details shape how it plays:
- Fast first pulse: the Evolution starts with a partly charged timer, so the first pulse lands sooner than six seconds after deployment.
- One cycle: every second Electro Giant you play is the evolved version.
Since a level drop weakens a whole push rather than one card, Evo Electro Giant is most dangerous against swarms and mixed pushes that bunch up behind a tank. Completing the Shocktober Album Event is the way to unlock it without spending.
Pass Royale: Free vs Diamond
The Free Pass keeps its focus on progression, while the Diamond Pass adds the Hero, cosmetics and perks. Here are the headline totals:
- Coins: 180,000 on the Free Pass, 440,000 on the Diamond Pass.
- Gems: 100 free, 325 Diamond.
- Hero Coins: 75 on both tracks.
- Wild Shards: 2 free, 8 Diamond.
- Diamond extras: Hero Electro Wizard, a Tower Skin, an Emote, plus the Golden Name, Premium Clan Gift and free Challenge rejoin perks.
Players below Arena 15 will mostly feel the Free Pass progression rewards, such as Gold, Wild Cards, Boost Potions and Lucky Chests. The premium cosmetics and Hero unlock open up from Arena 15.
October 2026 Balance Changes

The final October balance list was published on October 4. Community summaries of that final list break it down as follows:
- Buffs: Ram Rider, Three Musketeers, Monk, Goblin Barrel, Lava Hound, X-Bow, Goblin Drill and Wall Breakers.
- Nerfs: Barbarian Barrel, Elixir Pump, Royal Ghost, Minion Giant, Skeletons, Evo Cannon and Hero Ice Wizard.
- Rework: Golden Knight.
The direction is clear. Win conditions get help, with Goblin Barrel, Goblin Drill, Wall Breakers, Ram Rider, Lava Hound and X-Bow all on the buff side, while defensive and cycle staples take the hits.
For scale, the preliminary list from September 27 gave some of the sharper numbers:
- Hero Ice Wizard: ability damage cut from 89 to 46, a 48% reduction.
- Barbarian Barrel: damage reduced from 232 to 215.
- Skeletons: spawn radius reduced from 0.74 to 0.53 tiles.
- Evo Cannon: barrage damage reduced from 281 to 261.
- Goblin Barrel: first hit sped up from 0.4 to 0.3 seconds.
- Goblin Drill: now deals 20 tower damage on landing.
The final list added several cards that were not in the preliminary version, so check the exact numbers in-game before rebuilding a deck around them. Be careful with lists claiming October is "nerfs only." Those match Supercell's October 2025 notes, not this season.
What to Do This Season
- Start the Shocktober Album Event early: it is the free route to Evo Electro Giant.
- Decide how to get Hero Electro Wizard: take him at the Diamond Pass milestone, or save 200 Hero Coins and use the milestone for Wild Shards.
- Revisit your win condition: Goblin Barrel, Wall Breakers, Ram Rider and Lava Hound decks all gained ground this month.
- Re-test your Hero Ice Wizard deck: its ability lost almost half its damage in the preliminary list.
- Use the boosted cards: Electro Wizard, Electro Giant, Electro Spirit and Goblinstein are boosted this season, so it is a good time to try them.
Merge Tactics is also mid-way through its own long season, and the Season 11 Supers and ranked changes in Merge Tactics, along with the Season 11 Merge Tactics balance changes, cover what changed on that side of the game.
