The Where Winds Meet August 14 patch is now live, delivering a targeted balance update for the limited-time Cutie Clash mode. Instead of adding new story chapters or weapons, this update focuses on reshaping the event’s combat meta through Tile remakes, damage nerfs, cooldown improvements, and important changes to Execution and Goldie.

The biggest winners are cooldown-focused Martial Art setups, Execution-based strategies, and Goldie builds that can generate large amounts of Goldchaser Coins. Meanwhile, several popular Qi Flow and burst-damage Tiles have been toned down to prevent them from dominating every lineup.

🐾 August 14 Cutie Clash Changes at a Glance

The update introduces:

  • Two complete Tile remakes

  • Two direct utility buffs

  • Several damage and trigger-rate nerfs

  • New first-cast restrictions for River Fish and River Perch

  • A stronger reward for performing Executions

  • Improved Hero’s Flower generation for Goldie

  • A revised damage formula for Meow Punch

These adjustments follow the earlier August 7 balance pass and continue the developers’ effort to reduce overly reliable burst combinations while opening more space for alternative builds.

🔄 Kitty Spreads Its Wings Reworked

Kitty Spreads Its Wings has received one of the most significant changes in the patch.

Its new effect grants one second of Qi Flow to the Martial Art equipped in the active slot. It also reduces that Martial Art’s maximum cooldown for the current battle by:

  • Level 1: 0.4 seconds

  • Level 2: 0.8 seconds

  • Level 3: 1.2 seconds

  • Level 4: 1.6 seconds

However, the Tile’s own cooldown increases by six seconds after use.

This remake turns Kitty Spreads Its Wings into a long-term cooldown investment. It should be especially valuable when paired with a powerful active-slot Martial Art that normally has a long cooldown. The tradeoff is that the Tile itself becomes slower with repeated use, so players must decide whether the accumulated cooldown reduction is worth losing access to the Tile more frequently.

🪶 Soothing Animal Balm Is No Longer Locked to Legendary Techniques

Soothing Animal Balm has also been completely redesigned.

Dealing damage now has a 40% or 80% chance, depending on the Tile’s level, to trigger Raining Feathers. The triggered attack deals damage equal to 80% Outer Attack.

Previously, the Tile depended heavily on Legendary Technique interactions. The remake makes it much easier to include in general damage builds because players no longer need to construct their entire setup around a specific Legendary Technique.

Fast-hitting companions and Martial Arts should receive the most consistent value from this effect because they generate more opportunities to activate Raining Feathers.

📈 Golden Lotus Steps and Ode to Wealth Buffed

Two existing Tiles received direct usability improvements.

Golden Lotus Steps

The effective radius of Golden Lotus Steps has been increased to seven meters. Its visual effects have also been improved, making it easier to identify the Tile’s active area during crowded battles.

The larger radius should make the Tile more reliable in both mobile encounters and team fights where companions do not remain in one position.

Ode to Wealth

The Martial Art casting animation provided by Ode to Wealth is now faster.

Although the patch does not add more raw damage, faster casting reduces the time characters remain vulnerable and makes the Martial Art easier to fit into rotations.

📉 Major Tile Nerfs

Several frequently used Cutie Clash Tiles received lower damage values, reduced activation rates, or new restrictions.

Cat Scratching Post

The chance to trigger Qi Flow has been reduced from 40% to 30%.

Qi Flow builds can still use the Tile, but their rotations will be less consistent. Players relying on repeated Qi Flow activations may need another source of Qi or a more reliable backup effect.

Kitten’s Tears

The damage bonus has been reduced:

  • Previous values: 6% and 12%

  • New values: 5% and 10%

This is the second consecutive reduction for Kitten’s Tears following its earlier adjustment in the August 7 update. The Tile remains useful, but it is no longer as efficient as a universal damage amplifier.

Paulownia Zither

The damage bonus granted per trigger has been reduced across every level:

Tile Level Previous Damage New Damage Level 1 120 80 Level 2 240 160 Level 3 360 240 Level 4 480 320

The developers also fixed a discrepancy between the Tile’s description and its actual effect. Paulownia Zither can still contribute meaningful damage when activated repeatedly, but it now requires more support to justify a dedicated build slot.

River Fish and River Perch

Both Tiles now apply their bonuses only to the first relevant cast.

  • River Fish: The active-slot Martial Art receives its bonus only on the first cast.

  • River Perch: The active-slot Legendary Technique receives its bonus only on the first cast.

These restrictions substantially reduce the Tiles’ value in extended battles. They are now better suited to opening-burst strategies instead of continuous rotation builds.

Treasure from Above

Treasure from Above no longer grants a Hero’s Flower when casting with more than 20 Goldchaser Coins.

This removes one of the easiest ways to convert stored coins into additional Hero’s Flowers. Players using Goldie will need to rely more heavily on Goldie’s newly improved Talent rather than this Tile interaction.

👊 Meow Punch Receives a New Damage Formula

The Martial Art damage of Meow Punch has been adjusted to:

  • Level 1: 40% Outer Attack + 60

  • Level 2: 80% Outer Attack + 120

  • Level 3: 120% Outer Attack + 180

  • Level 4: 160% Outer Attack + 240

The patch also corrects an issue where the description did not match the actual effect.

Because the official notes do not provide Meow Punch’s previous formula, this change is best treated as a mechanical adjustment rather than a confirmed buff or nerf. Players should test it again before committing an important Tile slot to the skill.

⚔️ Execution Now Restores Qi

Performing an Execution now restores 30 Qi.

The initiator also receives a longer advantage window after landing, making it easier to continue attacking or reposition before the opponent can respond.

This is a substantial improvement for aggressive strategies. Executions are no longer only a source of finishing damage—they can now help restart a Martial Art rotation by restoring a meaningful amount of Qi.

Players should look for combinations that create frequent Execution opportunities instead of treating the mechanic as an occasional bonus.

🪙 Goldie Now Scales with Goldchaser Coins

Goldie’s Talent previously provided a flat three Hero’s Flowers each round. Following the update, the amount is calculated as:

3 + 5% of the player’s Goldchaser Coins

The additional amount is rounded up, with the total bonus capped at 20 Hero’s Flowers.

This creates a stronger reason to build around Goldchaser Coin generation. However, the Treasure from Above nerf prevents players from receiving too many additional Flowers from the same economy loop.

Goldie remains one of the patch’s biggest winners, but players must now manage their coins more deliberately instead of relying on a single Tile interaction.

🧩 How the Cutie Clash Meta Changes

The August 14 patch appears designed to move Cutie Clash away from highly reliable Qi Flow and repeat-burst setups.

The most important meta shifts are:

  • Qi Flow activation becomes less consistent through Cat Scratching Post.

  • Paulownia Zither and Kitten’s Tears provide less raw damage.

  • River Fish and River Perch become opening-burst Tiles.

  • Cooldown-focused builds gain a new scaling option through Kitty Spreads Its Wings.

  • Execution becomes a reliable source of Qi recovery.

  • Goldie strategies now reward stronger Goldchaser Coin management.

  • Soothing Animal Balm becomes viable outside Legendary Technique builds.

Players should update their saved setups before entering their next match. Builds copied from the opening week of Cutie Clash may still function, but several combinations will no longer produce the same damage or resource loops.

✅ What Players Should Do After the Patch

Before playing Cutie Clash again:

  1. Remove River Fish or River Perch if your strategy depends on repeated casts.

  2. Reconsider Paulownia Zither if it occupies a premium damage slot.

  3. Pair Kitty Spreads Its Wings with a high-impact Martial Art that benefits from maximum cooldown reduction.

  4. Use fast attacks to generate more Soothing Animal Balm activation opportunities.

  5. Build Goldchaser Coins when using Goldie, but do not expect Treasure from Above to generate extra Hero’s Flowers.

  6. Take advantage of Executions whenever possible to recover 30 Qi and continue your rotation.

🌬️ Final Verdict

The Where Winds Meet August 14 patch is a focused but meaningful Cutie Clash rebalance. Instead of simply lowering damage across the board, it removes several overly dependable interactions while strengthening cooldown management, resource economy, and Execution-based play.

Kitty Spreads Its Wings and Soothing Animal Balm now offer more flexible build paths, while Goldie gains a stronger scaling identity. At the same time, the nerfs to Cat Scratching Post, Kitten’s Tears, Paulownia Zither, River Fish, and River Perch should make matches less dependent on the same high-value Tile combinations.
