Akumu Gets 500% Defense in 7DS Origin, Here Is How to Break It
By Sir Ayup
Demonic Beast Akumu is the Knighthood Boss in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, and its latest revamp changes how you damage it. Akumu now starts with a huge Defense boost, the five elements are the key to breaking it down, and destroying every Element Stone puts Akumu into a Groggy state where it takes heavy damage. On top of that, you only get 4 minutes per attempt. At gamemarket.gg, we explain how the Akumu fight works now, how to use the five elements, how to trigger Groggy and how to set up your party for the best score.
How the Knighthood Boss Battle Works
- Who can join: members of the same Knighthood, in parties of 1 to 5 players
- Attempts: reported at 3 per week, refreshing with the weekly reset every Monday
- Goal: Akumu cannot be defeated. Your job is to deal as much damage as possible, which earns points for your Knighthood and better rewards
- Time limit: 4 minutes per attempt, down from 5 minutes before the revamp
With only three attempts a week and less time per run, planning your party before you enter matters more than ever.
The Five Elements: Breaking Akumu's Defense
Akumu has an effect that increases its base Defense by 500%, so fighting it without a plan barely scratches its HP.
The answer is the five elements: Fire, Lightning, Wind, Earth and Cold. According to Netmarble, every time Akumu is hit by one of these elements, its Defense drops by 10% for 5 seconds, and the effect stacks up to 10 times.
What this means in practice:
- Keep elemental hits coming. The reduction lasts only 5 seconds, so steady elemental damage keeps the debuff active
- Build up the stacks before your big skills. Your strongest attacks hit much harder once Akumu's Defense is reduced
- Spread elements across the party. A team that covers several elements finds it easier to keep the pressure on than a team relying on one
Each hero's weapons come with their own element, so check your weapon choices before entering and coordinate with your party so the team covers as many elements as possible.
Element Stones and the Groggy State
Element Stones appear during the fight, and after the revamp they show up faster than before.
- Destroying an Element Stone gives the player who breaks it a beneficial buff
- Destroying all Element Stones puts Akumu into a Groggy state, where it takes heavy damage
Groggy is the biggest damage window in the fight, so treat it as your main goal:
- Assign Element Stones to party members as soon as they appear, instead of everyone chasing the same one
- Break them quickly. The faster every stone is gone, the sooner Groggy starts
- Save your burst for Groggy. Use your strongest skills while Akumu is Groggy and its Defense is reduced by elemental hits
Netmarble has not yet shared how long Groggy lasts or exactly what the Element Stone buffs do. We will add these details as soon as they are confirmed.
The Time-Based Buff
After a certain amount of time passes in the fight, every player receives an additional buff. Netmarble has not published the exact timing or effect yet, but it means the later part of each run can be stronger than the start. Pairing that buff with a Groggy window is likely to be one of the best ways to push your score.
Best Party Setup for Akumu
Party Setup for Akumu
- Go in with a full party when you can. Game8 recommends four to five players from your Knighthood, which makes Element Stones and elemental coverage much easier to handle
- Cover different elements. The more elements your party brings, the easier it is to keep Akumu's Defense down
- Attack from behind. Hits to Akumu's back are reported to deal significantly more damage
- Dodge the big attack if you play solo. Without a party to break the stones in time, avoiding Akumu's strongest attack keeps your run alive

Tips for a Higher Akumu Score
- Plan your three weekly attempts. Do not waste them on unprepared runs, since each attempt now has only 4 minutes
- Talk to your party before entering. Decide who handles the Element Stones and who focuses on damage
- Keep the element debuff running. A 5-second window disappears fast, so keep rotating elemental attacks
- Line up your burst. Groggy, a full stack of Defense reduction and the time-based buff together give you the biggest damage window
- Stay behind Akumu whenever you can for extra damage
