Solo Leveling: ARISE September 17 Update: Diana Lopez Debuts
By Michael Pras 14 September 2026, 18:00 WIB
Netmarble has published the full developer preview for Solo Leveling: ARISE's September 17 update, and it's a considerably bigger patch than a single new Hunter. Alongside the debut of original Hunter Diana Lopez and the new raid boss Adan, the Monarch of Fangs, the update reworks how combat difficulty is displayed, expands gear progression caps, shortens a recurring farming mode, and lays out a full event calendar running through October 22. As always with a pre-release preview, Netmarble notes some details may still change before the update actually goes live.
New Hunter: Diana Lopez
Diana Lopez joins as an SSR Wind-attribute Buster — an original character rather than one adapted from the source webtoon. Her profile:
- Rarity / Element / Role: SSR, Wind, Buster
- Affiliated Country: Spain
- Rank: A
- Age: 31
- Main Ability: Firearms / Martial Arts / Body Enhancement
- Special Note: A renowned Spanish ex-soldier mercenary who overwhelms enemies with superior firepower
Her battle concept is built around three tags: overpowering firepower with firearms, a Basic Skill/Burst specialist role, and a Wind-element Burst Skill. Netmarble's suggested team pairs her with Han Se-Mi and Sugimoto Reiji, both of whom get their own rate-up banners in the same update window (more on that below).
New Boss: Adan, the Monarch of Fangs
The Workshop of Brilliant Light gets a new boss:
- Boss: Adan, the Monarch of Fangs
- Level: 150
- Tier: 10
- Arena: Beast's Hunting Ground
Clearing the fight once unlocks a permanent Remnant Power tied to Adan, adding him to the game's growing set of boss-specific combat buffs. A dedicated Smash Event runs alongside the boss for the first half of the update window, from September 17 to October 8.
New Costumes and Weapon Skins
Two new costumes launch with the patch: Diana Lopez — Silent Reaper, available through the Costume Shop, and Sung Jinwoo — Bountiful Harvest, a western-styled outfit included in the Hunter Pass Deluxe Rewards track. On the weapon side, the Demonic Plum Flower Sword [Aconite Veil] ships alongside balance buffs and is obtainable for free through an event, while The Moonlit Gale [Moon After the Lightning] is reserved for players finishing in the top 1,000 of the Power of Calamity Season rankings.
Hunter Balance Buffs
Four existing Hunters receive balance adjustments in this patch, with at least one remade into a dedicated Buster's Supporter role — a shift toward more defined team-support identities rather than pure damage scaling for characters who'd fallen out of the competitive rotation.
Growth and Equipment Updates
Progression systems get several concurrent upgrades:
- 7 New Blessing Stones join the pool, alongside Blessing Stone balance buffs for existing stones.
- Armory Expansion adds a second Armory page, giving players more slots to build out weapon loadouts without needing to break down existing setups.
- Core Max Level Expansion raises the Core level cap from 20 to 25 via a new Limit Break, increasing the maximum stat value obtainable — but only after reaching Core Level 20 and maxing that Core's Stat Enhancement Level first.
Difficulty and Content Expansions
Several existing modes get harder tiers added on top of what's already there:
- Battlefield of Trials gets a floor expansion, with clear tracking now extending to Floor 100.
- Story Expert Difficulty expands to cover Chapters 26 through 29.
- Unstable Dungeon, Battlefield of Trials, and Mind Rift all add higher difficulty tiers — Tiers 37 through 40 for the standard expansion, and Tiers 13 through 15 specifically for the Dungeon Boss fight against the Thoughtform of Sung Il-Hwan.
Total Power System Overhaul
Netmarble is reworking how combat difficulty is communicated. Total Power color tiers are being refined into three clearer bands — Insufficient, Recommended, and Exceeded — with combat scaling revamped around more detailed sub-tiers both below and above the Recommended threshold. Exceeding the Recommended Total Power now improves your combat state so that Final Damage scales up according to how far past that threshold your stats sit; this scaling does not apply in Guild Boss fights or the Battlefield of Time. Separately, a Special Operation List grants a flat Total Power bonus — shown as +50,000 in the preview — for select Hunters including Diana Lopez, Sugimoto Reiji, Han Se-Mi, and Goto Ryuji, though this bonus only counts on the Formation screen and doesn't affect Hunter Info or Battle Class displays.
Simulation Gate Improvements
The Simulation Gate farming loop is getting shorter rather than longer: the number of zones per run drops from 11 to 8 for faster clears, while clear rewards stay the same. The weekly Memory Chip cap is also increasing, up to a maximum of +750P, to help newer Hunters catch up faster. One note for anyone sitting on currency: sales for Luminous Prism I and II in the Simulation Gate Exchange end with the 9/17 update, with new exchange items scheduled to replace them.
Woo Jinchul Hunter Archive
A new Hunter Archive story arc unlocks for Woo Jinchul, titled "The Remaining Guardian," split across four parts: Remembrance, The Interview, A Misunderstanding, and A Scream.
September Event Calendar (9/17 – 10/22)
The update's event lineup splits roughly into two halves:
Running 9/17 – 10/8 (or longer):
- Ruin-maker Diana Lopez Rate Up & Advancement Event (through 10/22)
- Against the Odds: Sugimoto Reiji Rate Up Draw
- Autumn! World Drop & Collection & Weapon Skin Craft Event (through 10/22)
- Autumn! Check-in Gift (through 10/22)
- Adan, the Monarch of Fangs Smash Event
- Autumn! Lucky Clover Event (9/17 – 9/24 only)
Starting later in the window:
- International Clash (9/24 – 10/22)
- Kind-Hearted: Han Se-Mi Rate Up Draw (10/8 – 10/22)
- 2.5 Anniversary Prelude! Check-in Gift (10/8 – 10/22)
- 2.5 Anniversary Prelude Loyalty Event (10/8 – 10/22)
The staggered rate-up banners are worth planning around specifically — Sugimoto Reiji's banner closes October 8, while Han Se-Mi's doesn't even open until that same date, so there's no window where both run simultaneously.
Regular Content Schedule
Beyond the limited-time events, the update also lays out ongoing content through the same period: Workshop of Brilliant Light rotates from Adan (9/17–10/8) into a second boss, Baran (10/8–10/22), at which point Hall of the Monarchs also opens. Architect's Test gets a difficulty expansion running 9/17–10/22, alongside Edge of Illusion and Dreams on the same schedule. Power of Calamity Season 5, the Simulation Gate, and Guild Boss Manticore all continue as standing content through the update cycle.
Quality-of-Life: Hair Customization
A smaller addition worth noting: select Hunters gain combinable hair parts, letting players mix components to build a more customized look rather than choosing from fixed presets.
