Vivian arrives with the September update, introduced as "Bunny Showgirl's Eternal Encore" — and she arrives with more expectation attached than any character Netmarble has released so far, because players voted for her. Netmarble confirmed in a pre-launch Developer Live Q&A that Vivian won the game's "Most Wanted Character" poll.

On the date: you'll see both 8 and 9 September, and both are right. Netmarble's Korean channel lists the update as 9 September (Wednesday); the English announcement gives 8 September (Tuesday). That's the standard KST-to-UTC offset, and the same split appeared with Brisshell in August. Work from whichever your region uses, and expect maintenance to land on the boundary between them.

Which makes the pull maths worth doing before the banner opens, not after. Rate Up characters in Mongil: Star Dive drop at 1%, with hard pity at 90 pulls. Artifacts have a separate 80-pull pity on a separate banner. If Vivian follows the pattern set by Brisshell in version 1.3 — a limited 5-star running alongside her own signature Artifact for the banner's full duration — then the complete Vivian package is two ceilings, not one, and worst case that's 170 pulls.

A community-voted character attracts heavy spending on reputation alone. Her kit isn't public in the announcement art. Decide which of the two banners you actually need before the hype does it for you.

What's confirmed

Vivian joins with the 8–9 September 2026 update, following Brisshell, who arrived with version 1.3 "The Girl from the Void" on 18 August.

She's a returning face, not a new invention. Netmarble has been bringing characters from the original game into Star Dive with redesigned looks — Ran appeared in launch content on the same basis. Vivian belongs to that group, which is part of why the poll went her way.

Netmarble previewed her on 2 September in a Developer Lounge Talk covering Vivian, the full contents of the update, and a roadmap for what follows. The broadcast is in Korean; English summary highlights are published afterwards, and the recording can be watched with auto-translated subtitles through the Settings icon under the video.

The pity structure, plainly

  • Rate Up character acquisition rate: 1%
  • Guaranteed Rate Up character: every 90 pulls
  • Guaranteed Artifact: every 80 pulls
  • Every 10-pull guarantees at least one 4-star or higher

The 10-pull floor is not a safety net. A guaranteed 4-star tells you almost nothing about your progress toward a 5-star, and it's the single most misread number in any gacha's rate disclosure. The figures that matter for planning are 90 and 80.

Signature Artifacts are role-locked, not character-locked. Brisshell's Monstrous Longing was usable by every character in the Assassin role, not just her. If Vivian's Artifact follows the same design, its value extends past her — which changes the calculation for players who already own others in her role, and is worth checking before you write the second banner off.

The other thing landing in the same update

Rift Tickets change. The update adds a free weekly Rift Ticket ×3, and the Rift Tickets currently sold in the Subscription Shop and Threads of Fate are being swapped for puree.

That's a straightforward gain for most players — a recurring free supply replacing something you previously paid for. But if you've been buying Rift Tickets from either of those shops as part of your routine, that route closes on the same day, and the replacement arrives on a weekly cadence rather than on demand.

Her kit, from the broadcast

Vivian is Fire element, melee range, and classed as Support. At level 60 the showcase build read ATK 11,537, DEF 9,220, HP 30,849, Crit Rate 79.3% and Crit DMG 160%.

Her skill tree runs five nodes: Basic Attack, Special Skill, Swap Skill, Ultimate Skill and Unique Trait.

The basic attack is called Rehearsal. She throws cards at enemies and follows with a pole dance, dealing Fire damage across a four-hit chain — 41%, 102.6%, 73.3% and 96.8% — with a charge attack at 126.2%.

And a dodge counterattack at 287.7%.

That number reframes the whole character. Her counter is worth nearly three times her strongest normal hit and more than double her charge attack. Vivian isn't built around completing a combo string; she's built around baiting an attack, dodging it, and punishing. Players who treat her as a standard melee unit will leave most of her damage on the table.

The Support label sits oddly against those stats. A 79.3% crit rate paired with a 287.7% counter is not a passive healer profile. Combined with a dedicated Swap Skill, she reads as an on-and-off-field hybrid — the kind of unit that rotates in, punishes, and rotates out, rather than one that holds the field or sits in reserve.

Her lore fits the design. She's the mascot of a troupe called Fluffy Tales, presented as someone who commands audience attention through performance — and who has a weakness for touching any fluffy tail she sees.

One thing that can't be read from the showcase: her rarity. Four stars appear filled on the character screen, but this is a developer demo account at maximum level with a fully invested skill tree, so that display may reflect awakening rather than base rarity. Confirm on the banner page.

The 2026 second half roadmap

Netmarble also published a roadmap running to December, under the Episode 7 banner "Ashen Cradle Lullaby".

Ver. 1.4.0 — September/October

  • Main story addition
  • New region: Gaba Archipelago
  • New content: Elemental Sanctuary
  • Legendary Monster: Sorin
  • New characters: Isabella and Chloe
  • Special story: Nightmarch

Ver. 1.5.0 — November

  • Main story addition
  • 2 new characters
  • Friend system revamp
  • Ranking and Honor system
  • DMM GAMES service launch

Ver. 1.6.0 — December

  • Holidays special story
  • New Year special story
  • Character epilogues
  • New challenge content
  • 2 new characters
  • New costumes
  • Affinity and interaction content

Count the characters before you count your crystals. Vivian, then Isabella and Chloe, then two in November and two more in December — seven characters between now and the end of the year, each potentially carrying a 90-pull ceiling with an 80-pull Artifact banner beside it.

That cadence is the most useful thing in the roadmap. A new character every few weeks means a banner you skip is replaced quickly, which argues for picking specific targets rather than reacting to arrivals. It also makes saving through one banner to guarantee the next a viable strategy here, in a way it isn't in games with slower release schedules.

Ver. 1.5.0 carries the structural change. A Friend System revamp plus a Ranking and Honor system points at competitive and social play becoming a scored layer rather than a side feature, and the DMM GAMES launch opens a Japanese PC audience alongside it.

Netmarble's own disclaimer applies to all of it: content is under development, names are temporary, and details may change closer to each update.

What to do before the update

  1. Count your pulls against 90, not against the 1% rate. The rate describes individual pulls; the pity describes your worst case. Only one of those is something you can plan with.
  2. Decide now whether you want the Artifact banner. It's a separate 80-pull commitment, and it's the half people regret entering halfway.
  3. Check whether her Artifact suits characters you already own once the role is confirmed. A role-locked Artifact you can reuse is a different purchase from a single-character one.
  4. Read the English summary of the 2 September Lounge Talk before committing anything. It covers the full update contents, not just Vivian.
  5. Note the Rift Ticket change if the Subscription Shop or Threads of Fate is part of your weekly routine.
  6. Look at your Fire roster and your dodge habits. A counter worth 287.7% only pays out for players who actually dodge, and Vivian is melee — she has to be in range to earn it.

What isn't confirmed

Vivian's rarity, her Special, Swap and Ultimate skill effects, her Unique Trait, banner duration, and whether a signature Artifact banner runs alongside her at all. Everything on the roadmap is explicitly provisional — Netmarble labels the names temporary and the details subject to change.

Our Mongil Star Dive 1.3 update coverage covers Brisshell and the quality-of-life systems that preceded this patch.

Pulling on two banners is a Starlight Crystal problem

A character banner and an Artifact banner running in parallel is the most expensive shape a gacha release takes, and seven characters before December is a lot of pity counters to plan around. Mongil: Star Dive accounts list characters, awakenings and signature Artifacts up front, which matters in a game where teams are only three deep and one missing role reshapes everything. If the daily loop rather than the roster is what's holding you back, Mongil: Star Dive hourly services cover Rift clears, Conquest and progression through verified players, with payment held until you confirm the work. And if you're building a crystal balance ahead of the 1.4 banners, Mongil: Star Dive top up stocks Starlight Crystal through verified merchants at rates that usually beat the in-app store.
