Mongil Star Dive 1.4 Preview: Ashen Cradle Lullaby Coming 30 September
By Michael Pras 17 September 2026, 10:00 WIB
Mongil: Star Dive's Version 1.4 update lands on 30 September, and Netmarble is treating it as the half-anniversary patch: a new Episode 7 story chapter under the "Ashen Cradle Lullaby" banner, a new region in the Gaba Archipelago, new content called Elemental Sanctuary, a new Legendary Monster, two new characters listed as Isabella and Chloe, and returning character banners to mark the game's 0.5-year mark. The new key art puts seven characters on one image and names none of them, which is a fair summary of where the preview stands: the shape of the update is confirmed, the details of its two new pulls are not. Here is what Netmarble has committed to, what it hasn't, and how to set your Starlight Crystal budget before the 30th.
What Version 1.4 adds
Netmarble laid out the update in its 2 September Developer Lounge Talk and confirmed the date in a press release a week later. The 1.4 column of the roadmap reads:
- Main story addition — the first chapter of Episode 7, "Ashen Cradle Lullaby"
- New region: Gaba Archipelago
- New content: Elemental Sanctuary
- Legendary Monster: Sorin
- New characters: Isabella and Chloe
- Special story: Nightmarch
- Returning character summon banners for the 0.5-year anniversary
- Anniversary special events
Netmarble's disclaimer applies to all of it: the roadmap is marked as in development, names in brackets are temporary, and details can change before the update ships. Treat the date and the categories as reliable and the names as placeholders.
The two items that change what you play, rather than who you pull, come first.
Gaba Archipelago and the Episode 7 story
Every Star Dive story episode so far has arrived with a region to explore it in, and Episode 7 follows the pattern with the Gaba Archipelago. An island region is a different traversal proposition from the mainland areas that carried Episodes 1 through 6 — Field Runs, Monsterling capture spots and the dispatch loop introduced in 1.2 all depend on where the map lets you go, so a new region means new capture targets and new farming routes, not just new cutscenes.
"Ashen Cradle Lullaby" is the title Netmarble has given the whole second-half arc, running from 1.4 through the December update, which makes this chapter the opening act of a story that continues in November's 1.5 and December's 1.6. The Nightmarch special story sits alongside it as a separate side narrative, following the format of the Epic Quests that gave Vivian her own storyline in September.
Story and region are the reasons to log in on the 30th; Elemental Sanctuary and Sorin are the reasons to keep logging in.
Elemental Sanctuary and Legendary Monster Sorin
Elemental Sanctuary is listed as new content with no further description yet. The name points at an element-gated mode, and Star Dive already rotates its Legendary Conquest by element, so the likeliest read is a repeatable challenge that rewards building across attributes rather than stacking one — which would matter for how you spend materials on the two new characters. That is an inference from the name, not a confirmation; the Lounge Talk did not detail it.
Sorin is the new Legendary Monster. Legendary Monster Conquest, added in 1.1 and reworked in 1.3, is the mode where these bosses live, and each new one brings its own element window and its own drops. A new Legendary Monster arriving in the same update as two new characters is the standard Star Dive pairing: the boss supplies the materials, the characters supply the reason to farm it.
Which brings us to the pull decision.
Isabella and Chloe: what is and isn't known
Two new characters, listed as Isabella and Chloe, arrive with 1.4. What Netmarble has confirmed is that they exist and that their names are provisional. What it has not confirmed is their element, role, rarity, kit, banner order or banner dates. Until the pre-update Lounge Talk or the patch notes fill that in, there is nothing to build a team around and nothing to evaluate against your roster.
What is fixed is the cost. Rate Up characters in Star Dive drop at 1 percent with hard pity at 90 pulls, and signature Artifacts run on a separate banner with their own 80-pull pity. If both new characters follow the Brisshell and Vivian pattern — a limited character with a signature Artifact alongside — then 1.4 puts up to four pity counters on the table in a single version, and that is before the anniversary reruns are counted.
The fit question can't be answered yet, but it can be prepared for. Note which roles and elements your three-character teams are missing, and check whether the Artifacts you already own are role-locked in a way that would carry to a new character in the same role — Star Dive's signature Artifacts have so far been usable by every character in a role, not just their namesake. When the kits drop, that list tells you in one glance whether either of them fills a gap or duplicates one you've already covered. Our Vivian update and roadmap breakdown works through the pity maths in detail and covers the seven-character cadence between now and December.
The reruns are the other half of the budget.
Half-anniversary reruns: what to save for
Netmarble has confirmed returning character summon banners for the 0.5-year anniversary without naming which characters return. For anyone who started after launch, this is the first chance at the early limited roster, and for everyone else it is the first test of how Star Dive handles reruns — whether they run in parallel with the new banners, in sequence, or on a selector.
The planning logic is the same either way. A rerun of a character you missed and still want is a known quantity: the kit is public, the community has months of testing on it, and you can judge fit today. A new character is not. If your crystal balance can cover only one 90-pull ceiling in 1.4, the rerun of a proven unit you need is the lower-risk commitment, and the new characters can be revisited once their kits are known. Our Esther build guide is worth rereading if she is among the returns, since she remains one of the roster's most-built characters.
All of this sits right up against the banner that is running now.
Vivian's window closes as 1.4 opens
Vivian arrived on 8 September with her Bunny Showgirl's Eternal Encore event, which Netmarble gave a three-week run. Three weeks from the 8th lands on the 29th, which puts the end of her event — and, if her banner follows the event, the end of her banner — directly against the 30 September update. Pity does not carry between limited banners, so any partial count on Vivian is worth nothing to Isabella, Chloe or the reruns.
The practical read: settle Vivian this week. Either reach her guarantee or stop, and treat whatever remains as the 1.4 budget. Her event dungeons are also the last easy source of Summon Tickets before the update, so clearing them out is worth doing even if you skip her banner.
One more timing note: English announcements give the update as 30 September, and as with previous Star Dive updates, Korean channels may list the following day because of the time-zone offset. Maintenance will fall on that boundary, so plan for the last few hours of the 30th UTC being unavailable.
Before 30 September
- Finish or abandon Vivian's banner; don't carry a half-built pity into the update.
- Clear the remaining Bunny Showgirl's Eternal Encore dungeons for their Summon Tickets and materials.
- Write down the roles and elements your teams lack so the Isabella and Chloe reveals can be judged in a minute, not a week.
- Claim the free weekly Rift Ticket ×3 introduced in September and stock Rift materials; a new region and a new Legendary Monster both mean new farming.
- Check the Mongil: Star Dive redeem code list — anniversary codes tend to arrive around milestone patches and expire fast.
- If you skipped 1.3's systems, our 1.3 update coverage explains the Conquest and Rift reworks that Sorin and Elemental Sanctuary will build on.
Four pity counters is a lot of crystal
A version with two new characters, their Artifacts and a rerun wave is the most expensive shape a Star Dive update has taken so far, and a half-built roster feels it hardest. Mongil: Star Dive accounts list characters, awakenings and signature Artifacts up front, which matters in a game where teams are three deep and one missing role reshapes everything. If the daily loop is what is holding you back ahead of a new region, Mongil: Star Dive hourly services cover Rift clears, Conquest and progression through verified players, with payment held until you confirm the work. And if you are building a balance for the 1.4 banners, Mongil: Star Dive top up stocks Starlight Crystal through verified merchants at rates that usually beat the in-app store.
