Mobile Legends S42 Starward Decade: 10th Anniversary Update
By Michael Pras 11 September 2026, 23:59 WIB
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang's official channel dropped a patch preview on September 9 covering S42 "Starward Decade," the special season celebrating the game's 10th anniversary. The headline change is a full rework of Masha, but the update also touches seven other hero visuals, redesigns the Sanctum Island map with new objective mechanics, adds a 10-player Multiplayer Training Camp, and overhauls both the control settings and the battle emote wheel. Season 42 begins September 16, 2026.
Masha's Full Revamp
Masha gets the most significant change in this patch: a complete rework built around a mechanic the preview describes as tearing wounds, which lets her rip into enemies for burst damage while healing herself off the damage dealt. The longer she stays in a fight, the stronger she gets, which shifts her identity toward a scaling brawler who wants to draw out extended skirmishes rather than end them quickly. Full skill-by-skill details haven't been published yet, so exact numbers and cooldowns will need to wait for the official patch notes closer to launch.
Visual Updates for Seven More Heroes, Plus Bruno's Control Fix
Beyond Masha, seven additional heroes are getting visual refreshes in the same update, giving Starward Decade a broader glow-up across the hero roster rather than concentrating everything on one character:
- Bruno
- Clint
- Brody
- Kadita
- Badang
- Luoyi
- Paquito
Bruno stands out separately from the group — alongside his visual update, he's getting specific control responsiveness optimizations, suggesting Moonton identified an input or timing issue with his current kit worth fixing independently of the cosmetic pass.
Sanctum Island Gets Richer Environmental Detail and New Objective Mechanics
Sanctum Island, MLBB's core battlefield, is being updated with noticeably richer environmental graphics compared to its current look. The Lord monster is also getting a full redesign — the preview shows it wielding an icy trident with sharper, more detailed armor and a more imposing silhouette than its current form.
Alongside the visual pass, two new objective mechanics are confirmed for this year's annual map update:
- Golden Turret — destroying enemy turrets now grants bonus gold on top of the usual reward, giving teams an extra incentive to push structures rather than just farm
- Healing Turtle — a "Turtle Assist" mechanic where defeating the map's turtle grants the whole team EXP and Gold, turning it into more of a team-wide objective rather than a solo buff pickup
Both mechanics carry the standard "currently in development, final in-game effects may differ" disclaimer, so exact numbers could still shift before launch.
Control Improvements and a 6-Slot Emote Wheel
Rounding out the patch, Moonton is shipping control responsiveness improvements the team says were built directly from player feedback. The default Targeting Priority filter is changing from "Lowest HP" to "Lowest Effective HP," which factors in damage reduction and shields rather than raw health totals — a meaningful change for how auto-attacks and targeted skills pick their marks. The preview also shows the Active Creeps Filter and Assisted Aiming Mode toggled off by default, giving players more manual control out of the box.
The battle emote wheel is also expanding to six slots, with a more streamlined equipping process for swapping emotes in and out. Battle Emotes, Graffiti, and Custom Actions are all getting free customization options as part of the same update — a quality-of-life change, but one that matters for players who lean on emote communication mid-match.
A New Multiplayer Training Camp
Starward Decade also adds a Multiplayer Training Camp, a custom practice mode that supports up to 10 players split into two teams, with a friends list built in for inviting people directly into the lobby. The mode is explicitly unrewarded — no EXP, gold, or progression comes out of matches played there — positioning it purely as a space for scrimmage practice, draft testing, or just messing around with a full squad.

A reworked Masha and a fresh Sanctum Island layout both reward players who already know the map inside and out — getting that mastery, along with the Emblems and Battle Points to match, is the slow half of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
