Magic Chess: Go Go S7.1 Preview: Brody & Magic Auction
By Michael Pras 8 September 2026, 10:00 WIB
Magic Chess: Go Go's Season 7 "Chrono Echoes" is getting its first major content update on September 9, and the S7.1 patch is a genuinely large one. The headline additions are a brand-new Commander, Brody, and the official launch of Magic Auction — a new economy-focused mode that's been running on the Advance Server ahead of release. Alongside those two centerpieces, the update revamps an existing Commander's kit, adds a new batch of hero-upgrade Go Go Cards, and rolls out a wave of cosmetics tied to the season's concert theme. Here's everything confirmed for launch.
New Commander: Brody
Brody joins the Commander roster built around what the update calls "the power of the Abyss." His signature mechanic creates an Abyss Domain on the board — a zone that plays into synergy-completion strategies rather than the gold-focused approach Commanders like Franco favor. For players who've been building around synergy thresholds rather than pure economy, Brody looks like the more natural fit of the two Commanders Moonton has added this season, giving Season 7 a genuine style split between economy play (Franco) and synergy play (Brody, and to an extent Lylia after her revamp below).
Commander Lylia: Skill Revamp
Lylia isn't new to Chrono Echoes, but S7.1 gives her a skill revamp rather than leaving her as-is for the rest of the season. The reworked kit keeps her identity as a Mistbender-aligned caster while adjusting how her core ability functions on the board — worth checking in-game once the patch lands if Lylia was already part of your rotation, since her old combos and item priorities may not carry over cleanly.
Magic Auction: New Mode Goes Live
The biggest structural addition is Magic Auction, an economy and collection mode that's been in testing well ahead of this update. Players carry over Magic Auction Coins between test cycles — the preview shows a 1.5M coin balance rolling into the new season — and progress through a dedicated rank ladder separate from standard ranked play, starting at Auction Adept and climbing toward higher tiers like Auction Mogul at the top end.
The mode tracks its own stat set, distinct from a normal match: Collection Points and Collection Progress toward a full set (190/190 in the completed example shown), Total Auction Matches, Auction Win Rate, Profit Rate, and Total Profit. In practice, it plays out as a bidding and processing loop — items go through a "Gem Processing" step where their value shifts based on Gem Original Price versus Current Gem Value, and players choose to Confirm, Sell, or Share the result. It's a different skillset from board positioning and synergy-building, closer to reading value swings than reading the battlefield, so treat your first several Auction matches as calibration rather than expecting to profit immediately.
Cosmetics: A Free Figurine and New Skins
S7.1 ties several cosmetics to its Deltaversary-style launch window (running through the patch's event period):
- Moskov "Spear of Bone Dragon" — a free skin, plus the season's first event-exclusive Figurine using the same theme, both obtainable at no cost during the event.
- Ling "Night Shade" — a new skin for Ling continuing the concert season's darker aesthetic palette.
- Nana "Mistbender Nana" — arriving slightly after the main S7.1 drop, tied to the Mistbender synergy theme running through Season 7.
- Chessboard "Astral Sanctum" — a new cosmetic board skin.
None of these affect gameplay balance — they're presentation-only, consistent with how MCGG has handled chessboard and Figurine cosmetics in past seasons.
First Batch of Hero-Upgrade Go Go Cards
S7.1 also introduces what the patch notes call the first batch of Go Go Cards built specifically around hero acquisition and upgrades. Rather than generic effects, each card in this batch grants a specific hero and simultaneously strengthens that hero's skill — cards like Quaking Blow (Minotaur), Demonic Wrath (Phoveus), Yo-yo Virtuoso (Cici), Abyssal Smash (Dyrroth), Cyclone Sigil (Vale), Backline Breach (Yi Sun-shin), Forked Lightning (Eudora), and Vengeful Aegis (Uranus) all follow this pattern. A separate set of higher-tier cards layers on top of standard play: Disco Fever periodically forces random enemies into a dance state while buffing your strongest units with Hybrid ATK, Divine Execution instantly eliminates low-HP targets your units strike, Meltdown Armor III deals Magic DMG based on max HP when an ally falls, Rising Fury III scales damage the longer an ally survives combat, Synergy Constellation grants Hybrid ATK based on active Synergy count (capped once nine Synergies are active), and Transmutation upgrades a card into a random Orange-tier Go Go Card.
Progressing through match objectives also unlocks the Little Witch's Shop, a bonus vendor that opens once players hit specific collection milestones (shown unlocking at an 8/8 threshold in preview footage) — another incentive layered on top of the standard economy loop rather than a replacement for it.
With a new Commander, a full new game mode, and a fresh card batch landing simultaneously, S7.1 is a heavier update than most mid-season patches.
