Fortnite x Mega Man: What's Confirmed and What's Still Leaked
By Rivan Wi 9 September 2026, 02:00 WIB
Epic has released an official teaser for the Mega Man collaboration, and the launch is expected within days — reporting points at 8 or 9 September.
The teaser confirms two skins. Almost everything else circulating — the pickaxes, the Rush emote, the tournament — comes from decrypted game files rather than Epic.
Here's the split.
The short version
- Official teaser released, recreating the classic Mega Man character-select screen.
- Two skins confirmed: Classic Mega Man and Zero from Mega Man X.
- Launch expected 8 or 9 September — not formally announced.
- Leaked but unconfirmed: Z-Saber and Buster Cannon pickaxes, back blings, sprays, a Rush emote you can ride, additional skin styles, and a Mega Man Cup tournament.
- Mega Man already appeared in the Chapter 7 Season 4: Override launch trailer in August.
What Epic has actually shown
The teaser trailer recreates the classic Mega Man character-select screen — the grid of Robot Master portraits that opens every game in the series. That's a deliberate piece of framing, and it's the first look at the crossover's cosmetics.
Two skins are confirmed by it: Classic Mega Man, and Zero from the Mega Man X series.
Mega Man himself isn't a surprise. He appeared in the Chapter 7 Season 4: Override launch trailer back in August, alongside Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Joker from Persona 5 and giant falling Tetris blocks. The season was built around gaming icons from the start.
Zero is the addition worth noting. Including a Mega Man X character rather than sticking to the Classic series suggests the collaboration reaches across the franchise rather than treating it as one game.
What's leaked, and where it came from
Everything below has been decrypted from game files or circulated through leak accounts. None of it is an Epic announcement.
- Additional styles for Classic Mega Man, reportedly including Dual Override and Mega Man X variants
- Pickaxes: Z-Saber and Buster Cannon
- Back blings and sprays
- An emote featuring Rush, the robotic dog — which players can reportedly surf on
- A Mega Man Cup tournament, said to award the base Mega Man skin, back bling and pickaxe to top performers, with elimination-based rewards
Decrypted cosmetics are usually accurate about what exists. Files in the client are files in the client. What they're less reliable about is how items are distributed — whether something lands in the Item Shop, a bundle, a Battle Pass or a tournament isn't stored in the model.
So treat the item list as probably right and the acquisition routes as unconfirmed. That distinction matters most for the Cup.
The Mega Man Cup is the part to watch
If the tournament is real, it's the difference between a paid crossover and one with a free route.
Reporting describes it as awarding the base Mega Man skin, back bling and pickaxe to top-placing players, with additional rewards tied to eliminations.
That's a familiar Fortnite structure. Epic has run competitive cups as free acquisition routes for crossover cosmetics before, typically with a placement threshold plus points earned in-match.
Two things worth knowing if you intend to chase it:
Cups are usually region-locked and time-boxed to a single day. You don't get a week to attempt it, and your region's server determines who you're competing against.
The threshold is often generous. These cups typically reward a percentile rather than a podium, so the bar is "play well over several matches" rather than "win the tournament."
But none of this is confirmed for Mega Man specifically, including whether the Cup exists at all. Wait for Epic's announcement before building a schedule around it.
Where this sits in Override
Chapter 7 Season 4 has been unusually dense with crossovers, which is worth remembering before deciding what to spend on.
Sonic arrived with the season, alongside Tails, Dr. Eggman and Shadow, with Green Hill Zone elements on the map. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Joker, Pac-Man, Sora and Tetris have all featured in season material.
Mega Man is one crossover among many in a season built on gaming icons. If your Item Shop budget is finite, the relevant question isn't whether Mega Man is worth buying — it's whether he's worth buying instead of whatever else this season is still holding back.
And the season's other content hasn't stopped. The Design-A-Sprite winners are still arriving, with three of five contest Sprites yet to release, and Sprite Dust now funds both Sprite mastery and Loot Hack weapon unlocks.
What isn't announced
- The launch date. Reporting points at 8 or 9 September; Epic hasn't confirmed it.
- Pricing for the skins, bundles or individual items.
- Whether the Mega Man Cup exists, and if so its date, format and reward thresholds.
- Which items sit in the Item Shop versus a bundle versus a tournament.
- Whether Rush is an emote, a back bling, or both.
- How long the cosmetics stay available.
What to do
Don't buy anything until the Cup is confirmed or ruled out. If the tournament awards the base skin free, buying it the day before would be an expensive mistake.
Check the Item Shop rather than a leak list. Decrypted files show what exists, not what's purchasable today.
Budget against the whole season, not this one drop. Override has been crossover after crossover, and it isn't finished.
If the Cup is real, check your region's schedule immediately. Competitive cups run for one day and are region-specific.
Treat "Dual Override" and "Mega Man X" styles as unconfirmed. Extra styles are the detail leaks get wrong most often, because unreleased variants sit in files alongside cut ones.
Getting your account ready
Crossover cosmetics come and go, but the season around them — Battle Pass tiers, the Sprite system, Loot Hack unlocks — rewards an account with progression already behind it.
