Fortnite x Hollow Knight Is Live: Sidekick or Bundle, Which to Buy?
By Sir Ayup 10 October 2026, 06:00 WIB
The Fortnite x Hollow Knight collaboration is live in the Item Shop, and it arrives in a form many fans did not expect: The Knight joins as a Sidekick, not a skin. At gamemarket.gg, we went through everything in the collab: what each item is, how much the Sidekick and bundle cost, which rewards unlock over time and how long you have before it leaves the shop on October 14. Here is what you get and whether the bundle is worth the extra V-Bucks.
Release Date and Shop Window
The Hollow Knight collection arrived with the Item Shop reset on October 7, 2026, at 8 PM ET, as part of Fortnitemares 2026. It is scheduled to leave the shop on October 14 at 8 PM ET.
That gives you about one week. Item Shop collabs can return later, but there is no confirmed rerun date, so if The Knight is on your list, this is the window to buy.
To find it, open the Item Shop, go to the Fortnitemares tab and look for the Hollow Knight section.
The Knight Is a Sidekick, Not a Skin

The biggest talking point of the collab is the format. Instead of an outfit you wear, The Knight is a Sidekick, a companion that follows you around the island.
That choice divided fans at first, but it suits the character. The Knight is small, silent and iconic in silhouette, which works well as a companion trotting beside your outfit. It also means you can pair The Knight with any skin you already own instead of replacing your look.
Sidekicks also progress. When you equip The Knight while completing Fortnitemares 2026 quests, both you and your Sidekick earn XP. As The Knight levels up, it unlocks extra cosmetics through Sidekick Points.
Everything in the Collection

The Hollow Knight collection includes:
- The Knight: Sidekick
- Hallownest Grub: Back Bling
- The Knight's Nail: Pickaxe
- Hollow Knight: Banner Icon
The Hallownest Grub and The Knight's Nail are pulled straight from the original game. The Grubs are the small trapped creatures players rescue across Hallownest, and the Nail is The Knight's signature weapon.
Prices: Sidekick vs Bundle
Two buying options stand out:
- The Knight (Sidekick): 1,500 V-Bucks
- Hollow Knight Bundle: 2,000 V-Bucks
The bundle includes The Knight plus two other collab cosmetics, so the difference comes down to 500 V-Bucks for two extra items. That puts The Knight in line with other Gaming Legends Sidekicks, including the Spyro companion from the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro collaboration.
Individual prices for the Pickaxe and Back Bling have not been confirmed, so check the shop listing if you only want one of them.
Rewards Unlocked With Sidekick Points

Buying The Knight is only the start. Leveling it up with Sidekick Points unlocks:
- Banner Icon
- Hollow Knight's Heart (Reaction)
- Shade Soul (alternate style for The Knight)
- Knight's Bench (Emote)
The Shade Soul style is the one most fans will chase, since it references one of The Knight's most recognisable spells. The Knight's Bench emote is a nod to the benches players rest on throughout Hallownest. Because these unlock through play, equipping The Knight during your Fortnitemares quests is the fastest way to collect them.
Should You Buy the Sidekick or the Bundle?
The choice depends on what you want from the collab:
- Buy the Sidekick alone if you only want The Knight following you. At 1,500 V-Bucks, it is the core of the collection, and all the Sidekick Points rewards come with it.
- Buy the bundle if you want the Pickaxe and Back Bling too. Two extra items for 500 V-Bucks is good value if you would use them.
- Skip the extras if you already have a Pickaxe and Back Bling you like. The Sidekick works with any outfit, so the extras are optional.
Whichever you choose, remember the October 14 deadline.
The Knight in Fortnitemares 2026
Hollow Knight is one of several crossovers rolling through this year's Halloween event. Fortnitemares 2026 opened with Five Nights at Freddy's on October 1, followed by Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover and Halloween Horror Nights' Jack the Clown before The Knight arrived on October 7.
More collabs are still on the way, including Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands, Slender Man and 99 Nights in the Forest, though their dates have not been confirmed. The event also brings back Horde Rush, Halloween map changes and new Sprites to collect. That makes The Knight a good fit for the season: you can level it up while working through the event's quests.
Your Fortnite x Hollow Knight Checklist
- Buy before October 14, 8 PM ET: the collection leaves the Item Shop then.
- Decide between Sidekick and bundle: 1,500 V-Bucks for The Knight, or 2,000 for The Knight plus two more items.
- Equip The Knight during Fortnitemares quests: you and your Sidekick both earn XP.
- Unlock Shade Soul: level up with Sidekick Points to reach the alternate style and the Knight's Bench emote.
- Pair it with any outfit: The Knight works as a companion alongside skins you already own.
Fortnite x Hollow Knight is a small but well-chosen collab. The Knight as a Sidekick fits the character, the unlockable rewards give you a reason to keep it equipped, and the bundle price is fair if you want the full set. Just do not wait past October 14.
