Fortnite Dark Kawaii Team Leader: How the Battle Pass Gift Bonus Works
By Official GameMarket News
The Fortnite Treasure Hunters Battle Pass does not come with a launch-week bonus this time, but there is still a free extra waiting for anyone who shares it. Gift the Battle Pass to a friend, and both of you receive the Dark Kawaii Team Leader Outfit style. The mini-season started on November 1, bringing Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin to the pass. At gamemarket.gg, we went through Epic's official announcement and support page to explain what is in the pass, how the gift bonus works, the rules you need to meet and whether it is worth it.
What Is in the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass
The Treasure Hunters Battle Pass launched with the mini-season on November 1 at 9 AM ET (14:00 UTC). It is reported to cost 800 V-Bucks, the standard Battle Royale pass price.
The pass includes:
- Portgas D. Ace (One Piece)
- Nico Robin (One Piece)
- new anime-style looks for Jonesy, Cuddle Team Leader and Charlotte
The other One Piece characters, including Luffy, are sold in the Item Shop instead. Our breakdown of where Luffy is in Fortnite x One Piece lists every Shop date.
The Gift Bonus: Dark Kawaii Team Leader
Epic's official announcement confirms the bonus: if you gift the Battle Pass to a friend, you both receive the Dark Kawaii Team Leader Outfit style.
A few things to know:
- it is an Outfit style, not a separate new skin
- the sender and the recipient both get it once the gift goes through
- your friend must not already own the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass, since you cannot send a second copy
Unlike the launch-week bonus from the previous season, which was tied to buying the pass before a fixed date, this bonus is tied to gifting. Epic has not announced a specific end date for it.
How to Gift the Battle Pass
According to Epic's support page, the Battle Pass can only be gifted by buying a gift voucher in game. It cannot be bought with V-Bucks.
- Launch Fortnite
- Open the Battle Passes tab at the top of the screen
- If you do not own the pass yet, select Get the Battle Pass
- Select Gift Battle Pass on the right side of the screen
- Choose the friend you want to send it to
- Complete the payment
Epic warns that all gifts are non-refundable, so double check the recipient before you pay.
Gifting Requirements
Before you try to send the gift, make sure you meet the standard Fortnite gifting rules:
- Two-factor authentication enabled on your Epic account
- Account Level 2 or higher
- the recipient on your friends list for at least two days
- a limit of five gifts in a rolling 24-hour period
If the gift option is unavailable, check these conditions first. Your friend also needs to sign in to receive the pass.
Is the Gift Bonus Worth It?
Worth it if you were already planning to buy the pass for a friend, or you play regularly with someone who has not bought it yet. You both get the style at no extra cost beyond the gift itself.
Not worth it if you are buying a gift only for the style. The gift is paid with real money, so you are effectively paying for a full Battle Pass to unlock one Outfit style for yourself.
Consider timing. Epic typically switches off Battle Pass gifting toward the end of a season. Treasure Hunters builds up to a Chapter 7 end event on December 5, so it is safer to send the gift early instead of waiting until the last days.
What Happened to the Launch-Week Bonus?
In the previous season, buying the Override Pass before August 27 unlocked the Infiltrator Grace Crowne style and its accessories automatically. That offer has ended, and Treasure Hunters does not include an equivalent early-purchase reward.

What We Still Do Not Know
- the exact gift price in each region
- the unlock levels for Ace, Robin and the other pass rewards
- the official end date for Battle Pass gifting this season
Gift the pass early if a friend needs it, claim your Dark Kawaii Team Leader style and start working toward Ace and Robin before the December 5 finale.
