Epic Seven Uncharted Pioneer Politis: Row Placement Decides Her Kit

Uncharted Pioneer Politis is live in Epic Seven as of 3 September 2026 — an Ice Ranger with a mechanic the game hasn't really used before.

Where you place her in the formation changes what her kit does. Front row, she leans offensive. Back row, she leans defensive. Same hero, same investment, two different jobs.

That makes her the rare unit where the first build decision isn't gear at all. Here's what's confirmed and how to approach her.

The row mechanic

Epic Seven is a turn-based game where formation position normally affects targeting and aggro. It doesn't usually change what a hero's skills do.

Uncharted Pioneer Politis does:

• Front row — the kit leans offensive.
• Back row — the kit leans defensive.

The practical consequence is that the usual build sequence is inverted:

• For most heroes, you pick the gear set first and slot them wherever the team allows.
• For her, you decide what job she's doing before you know which stats to build.
• Row is the first decision. Boots are the second.

That's a real planning cost, and worth being honest about: a hero who can do two things is not automatically better than a hero who does one thing well. Flexibility only pays if you actually need both roles, and if you'll build the gear to support whichever one you commit to.

She is not the Politis you already own

This is the mistake most likely to cost people molagora.

Classic Politis:

• Control Mage
• Dolls that stun, Starfall applying Unable to be Buffed, extra turn on soulburn
• Does one job — strip and lock down — regardless of placement
• Established builds: Hit and Destruction, roughly 150 Speed

Uncharted Pioneer Politis:

• Ice Ranger
• Kit changes shape by row
• Different element, different class, different function

Copying an old Politis speed tune onto her is not an optimisation — it's a category error. Speed still matters, as it always does in Epic Seven, but it isn't the first decision.

If you already own the original, keep her. She still applies Unable to be Buffed, and nothing about the new unit replaces that.

Don't six-skill her on day one

The sensible approach to any new 5-star applies here with extra force, because her kit's shape depends on a choice you may not have made yet.

• Clear the banner, then park her. Level 50, five skill is a fine holding position while you decide front row or back.
• Spend molagora on your Hunt core instead. An Ice Hunt team that clears reliably is worth more to most accounts than a half-committed new unit.
• Wait on artifacts. Song of Stars is the obvious PvP guess and Daydream Joker the obvious Hunt guess — both are guesses until her tooltips are tested.
• Trust the live client over any guide. Skill text in-game beats anything written before the banner opened, including this article.

Tier placements will move once a week of real data exists. Anything published in the first few days is a projection.

The banner structure

She's the Drop Rate Up Covenant pickup from 3 September. Two details matter:

• Pity is 121, with no 50/50. The featured 5-star is the only 5-star on that banner, so reaching pity gets you her rather than a coin flip — more forgiving than most systems players are used to.
• Wishlist does not apply to a featured pickup. This catches people out regularly. Your seven wishlist heroes affect the standard Covenant banner, not this one.

The anniversary budget question

Timing makes this decision harder than it looks.

The 8th Anniversary distributes up to 1,260 free Covenant summons across its run — 20 per day rather than a single claim. That's a substantial reserve arriving at exactly the moment a new pickup banner opens.

The temptation is to dump it all here. That's usually wrong:

• If your wishlist is still empty, those summons do more on the standard banner filling roster holes you actually have.
• If your Hunt core is incomplete, a placement-flexible Ranger doesn't fix that.
• Pull for a hole you have, not because the anniversary trailer was loud.

Pull if she fills a genuine gap and you're prepared to commit to one of her two roles.

Skip if you're still building fundamentals. She'll be replaceable within a few patches, and the anniversary's free currency has better homes.

Where she comes from

• Uncharted Pioneer Politis depicts Politis at her first landing on Orbis in the 1st World — Epic Seven's earliest era, where the world repeatedly falls into ruin and is rebuilt.
• She arrives alongside the Paradise Lost side episode, which opened 27 August.
• Lisette, the alter ego of Goddess Diche, released with it — a Light-element Soul Weaver built around reviving and restoring allies.
• Acolyte of the End Kayron features heavily in the story and receives his own introduction later.
• Kain appears as a playable NPC rather than a summonable hero.

What isn't settled

• Her exact skill numbers and tooltips. Verify in the live client, not from pre-launch coverage.
• Which build each row wants. Front-row offence could mean Speed and Effectiveness, or Destruction; back-row defence could mean bulk, or utility.
• Her tier placement in PvE and PvP, which needs a week of real data.
• Her best artifact, for either configuration.

Building the account behind her

A placement-flexible hero only pays off on a roster deep enough to have somewhere to place her — and gear, catalysts and awakening materials are the slow half of Epic Seven, not the summoning.
