Dragon Ball Legends Frieza Assist or ULTRA Golden Frieza: Who to Pull
By Sir Ayup 8 October 2026, 20:00 WIB
The Dragon Ball Legends Frieza Force team just got its biggest refresh in a long time. Three new units joined the tag during the Rulers of the Universe campaign: the LEGENDS LIMITED 1st Form Frieza: Dodoria & Zarbon (Assist), a new SPARKING Zarbon and an event-exclusive Dodoria. At gamemarket.gg, we looked at what those three actually change for Frieza Force teams, and at the question most players are now facing: should you chase Frieza Assist before his banner closes on November 3, or spend on ULTRA Golden Frieza, whose Step-Up ends on October 14? The answer depends less on which unit is stronger and more on what your team is missing.
What Frieza Force Looked Like Before

For a long time, the strongest reason to build Frieza Force was ULTRA Golden Frieza. He carries the Frieza Force tag along with Lineage of Evil, Powerful Opponent and Transforming Warrior, which lets him slot into several shells at once, and his kit is built to dominate from the first card.
His design also shaped how the team plays. Golden Frieza is a centrepiece that rewards you for building a team to protect and support him, so Frieza Force lineups have tended to lean on him as the carry while the rest of the team supplies tag value.
The three new units change that balance. Instead of another damage dealer, the headline addition is a unit that works from standby.
Frieza Assist: A Bench Engine for the Whole Tag

1st Form Frieza: Dodoria & Zarbon (Assist) is a LEGENDS LIMITED Purple unit released on September 22, 2026. His tags cover Frieza Force, Lineage of Evil, Powerful Opponent, Transforming Warrior and Frieza Saga (Z), so he fits the same shells as Golden Frieza.
What makes him different is where his value comes from. His Unique Gauge charges while he is on standby, starting at 60%, and several of his strongest effects trigger from the bench:
- Ally protection: when an ally takes damage while he is benched, he cancels enemy Buff Effects.
- Cover changes: he destroys enemy Blast Arts twice and seals Strike Arts.
- Durability: he becomes Indestructible twice per battle when benched during an enemy Ultimate, Awakened Arts or Rising Rush.
- Returning to standby: with 20% or more gauge, he removes Rising Rush seals, restores ally health by 10% and removes ally Main Ability seals, a first for the game.
That last effect is the one to remember. Main Ability seals can shut down an entire game plan, and Frieza Assist gives the team a way to undo them.
On the field, his Main Ability draws his Ultimate Arts next, restores 30% health and 40 Ki, and with enough gauge raises Ultimate damage by 30% and fully empties the enemy's Vanishing Gauge. His Strike and Blast Arts also make all enemies take 15% more damage for 10 timer counts, which helps every teammate who comes in after him.
His Z Ability is the change that touches every Frieza Force team. It boosts Frieza Force, Lineage of Evil and Powerful Opponent units, reaching +38% Strike Attack and Blast Defense at Z4, with an extra +18% Strike Defense for Lineage of Evil. A single Z Ability that covers all three tags makes him an easy fit even for players who never field him.
Zarbon and Dodoria: New Options at Lower Rarities

The two SPARKING units fill different gaps.
Zarbon is a SPARKING Green attacker who can transform into Super Zarbon. Once he transforms, he prevents both ally and enemy switching, locking the matchup in place so he can finish the enemy in front of him. That is a high-risk, high-reward effect: it stops the opponent from escaping a bad matchup, but it also stops you from rescuing a teammate.
Dodoria is a SPARKING Yellow event-exclusive unit. He was available through the Rampaging Right Hand!! Dodoria's Planetary Invasion event, which let players fully Limit Break him through event missions. That event ran until October 7, so players who finished it now own a free, fully upgraded Frieza Force unit.
The campaign also added Bulma as a Supporter card. She generates Dragon Balls when allies take damage under certain conditions, and with Support Ability II or higher she gives you a Dragon Ball while removing one from the enemy, which helps Frieza Force reach Rising Rush first.
What Changes for Frieza Force Teams
Put together, the three units shift Frieza Force in three ways.
First, the team now has a real support layer. Frieza Assist covers buff cancellation, Blast Arts destruction and seal removal from the bench, so the active fighter no longer has to solve every problem alone.
Second, there are more colors to choose from. Zarbon adds a Green option and Dodoria a Yellow one alongside the Purple Frieza Assist and Golden Frieza, which gives the tag more ways to handle element matchups.
Third, the Z Ability pool gets deeper. With Frieza Assist boosting three tags at once, players who build Powerful Opponent or Lineage of Evil teams benefit even if their lineup does not use Frieza Force as its main tag.
What it does not change is the need for a carry. None of the three new units replaces the raw damage and comeback potential that Golden Frieza brings, which is why the two units work best together rather than as alternatives.
ULTRA Golden Frieza: Still the Centrepiece

ULTRA Golden Frieza remains the heaviest hitter in this conversation. His Unique Ability starts each battle with a full Unique Gauge, +170% damage inflicted and 70% damage reduction, plus faster card draw and cheaper Special Move Arts.
His ULTRA Ability, Resonance of Force, rewards Powerful Opponent teams in particular. As the Leader, he gains +30% damage and +30% Ki Recovery at the start of battle. Off the Leader slot, he gains +5% of each for every Powerful Opponent member, counting up to three support members.
He also has a comeback mechanic. When his health reaches zero, he remains undefeated and fights back through a special action, and his Main Ability gains extra effects once that has triggered. For a team built around him, that gives one more chance to turn a lost matchup around.
The Step-Up banner featuring him runs from September 30 to October 14, and free pulls earn [ULTRA Golden Frieza] Summon Coins that can be exchanged for Z Power.
Frieza Assist or ULTRA Golden Frieza?
The two units answer different needs, so the choice comes down to your current roster.
Prioritise ULTRA Golden Frieza if you do not own him yet. He is the carry Frieza Force teams are built around, his banner closes first on October 14, and the new units make him stronger rather than replacing him. Frieza Assist's Z Ability and bench support both work in his favour.
Prioritise Frieza Assist if you already have Golden Frieza. At that point, your team has its damage and lacks support. Frieza Assist adds buff cancellation, seal removal and a tag-wide Z Ability, and his banner runs until November 3, so you have time to save.
Consider skipping both if you do not play Frieza Force, Powerful Opponent or Lineage of Evil. Frieza Assist's best qualities are tied to these tags, and Golden Frieza's ULTRA Ability rewards Powerful Opponent teams most.
One detail matters for anyone planning a long pull. The LEGEND Rising banner's 450-drop guarantee gives the featured Z Power, not the character, if Frieza Assist has not appeared by then. That makes it a poor banner to chase with a small crystal budget, because reaching the guarantee does not promise the unit itself. Big headliners are always competing for the same Chrono Crystals, as players saw when Super Saiyan God SS Kaioken Goku arrived, so decide which unit fills a real gap before committing.
Your Frieza Force Checklist
- Check whether you own ULTRA Golden Frieza: if not, he is the higher priority, and his Step-Up ends on October 14.
- Count your Frieza Force, Powerful Opponent and Lineage of Evil units: the more you own, the more Frieza Assist's Z Ability is worth.
- Check your Dodoria: if you completed his event, add him to your Frieza Force options as a Yellow pick.
- Equip Bulma if you rely on Rising Rush: her Dragon Ball generation suits teams that want to reach Rising Rush first.
- Plan around November 3: if Frieza Assist is your target, save steadily instead of pulling early, and remember that the 450 guarantee is a Z Power, not the unit.
Frieza Force no longer has to rely on one carry and a handful of tag fillers. With Frieza Assist working from the bench, two new SPARKING options and Golden Frieza still leading the charge, the tag is in a stronger place than it has been in a while. Pick the unit that fills your team's biggest gap, and the rest of the lineup will benefit either way.
