Clash of Clans Revenge Deck Test Guide: Is It Worth Your Ore?
By Sir Ayup 26 August 2026, 22:00 WIB
The short answer: don't spend ore on it yet. Not because it's bad — because Supercell is about to let you test it at maximum level for free.
The Revenge Deck Boost runs 26 August to 31 August. During those five days the equipment is boosted to max level for your Hero Hall, provided you've unlocked it. That's a five-day window to judge a maxed version of the equipment before committing a single point of Starry Ore.
Judging an Epic off a level-one version is how ore gets wasted. A level-one Epic performs nothing like a maxed one, and nobody would actually run it at that level. The boost removes that problem entirely — which makes any verdict formed before 26 August, including from creator videos in the first days after launch, worth less than the test you can run yourself next week.
Here's what the equipment does, where the mechanic actually holds up, and what to watch for during the boost.
What the Revenge Deck does
The Revenge Deck is the second Epic Hero Equipment for the Dragon Duke, and it debuted in the Awesome Medal Event starting 12 August 2026.
When equipped, it lets the Dragon Duke counterattack anything that damages him — defences and enemy units alike. Each counter does two things: it heals the Dragon Duke slightly, and it launches a card at the attacker for damage.
The critical limit: counters fire at most once per 0.8 seconds per attacking unit. If the same attacker hits him again inside that window, no counter happens.
The mechanic that decides whether it's worth it
That per-unit cooldown is the whole equipment, and it's the part most breakdowns skip past.
The counter scales with the number of distinct things attacking him — not with how much damage he takes.
Ten weak defenders hitting the Duke produce ten separate counter streams, each on its own 0.8-second timer. One high-damage source hitting him produces one. The total damage he's taking might be identical; the value he gets from the Revenge Deck is not.
That points to a clear strength profile:
- Strong against many small attackers — swarms of defending Clan Castle troops, multi-target defences, base areas dense with low-damage buildings. Lots of counters, lots of small heals stacking.
- Weak against single high-damage sources — single-target Inferno Towers, Monoliths, Eagle Artillery. One counter every 0.8 seconds against something deleting your hero.
The uncomfortable implication: the sustain is largest exactly when the Duke isn't in much danger, and smallest exactly when he is. Chip damage from a swarm was never what killed him. Single-target Infernos were.
This is what to actually test during the boost. Not whether it feels good on a farming raid — whether it keeps the Dragon Duke alive against the defences that were already killing him.
How to test it properly, 26–31 August
Five days is enough for a real answer if you spend them deliberately.
- Attack bases that beat you before. A maxed Revenge Deck clearing bases you were already clearing tells you nothing.
- Target single-target Inferno and Monolith layouts specifically. That's the failure case the mechanic is theoretically worst against, and it's where the verdict lives.
- Compare directly against the Duke's other equipment. The relevant question isn't "is this good" — it's "is this better than what I'd otherwise run on him."
- Do at least a few war-quality attacks, not just loot raids. Farming attacks forgive everything.
- Decide before 31 August. The boost ends, and the equipment reverts to whatever level you've actually invested in.
What spending ore actually costs you
Ore is account-wide, and Epic equipment upgrades draw on Starry Ore — the scarcest of the three types and the genuine bottleneck for most accounts.
Ore spent here is ore not spent elsewhere. That's the real question behind "is it worth it." Not whether the Revenge Deck is good in isolation, but whether it beats the next upgrade on your list for a hero you use more often.
If the Dragon Duke isn't already in your main attack composition, the answer is almost certainly no, regardless of how the equipment tests. Equipment upgrades on a hero you rarely deploy are the most common ore mistake in the game.
One caveat on early numbers
The Revenge Deck is one of the few pieces of Hero Equipment to receive statistical changes before its official release, alongside the Snake Bracelet, Heroic Torch and Rocket Backpack.
That matters for anything you read from the pre-release period. Testing footage and damage figures published before launch may reflect values that no longer apply. Treat the boost window as the first reliable measurement, and be sceptical of numbers quoted from earlier builds.
If you haven't unlocked it yet
The boost only maxes the equipment if you've already unlocked it. It was distributed through the Awesome Medal Event, so if you haven't claimed it, the boost gives you nothing.
Our Awesome Medal Event guide covers the medal shop priorities and what's worth buying first — relevant if you're deciding between the equipment and the other items on offer.
The honest verdict
Wait five days. The Revenge Deck's mechanic is genuinely interesting and genuinely conditional, and its value depends on things a video can't tell you: which hero you run, what your other equipment looks like, and what kind of bases beat you.
Supercell is handing you a free maxed test window starting 26 August. Using it costs nothing. Skipping it and spending Starry Ore on a hunch costs the one resource you can't farm your way out of.
Ore is finite, and so is patience
Every equipment decision competes with hero levels, and both run on resources that accumulate slowly. Accounts that can test freely and upgrade decisively are the ones with the ore reserves to absorb a wrong call.
