Clash of Clans August Update: TH18 Levels, CWL Changes & QoL
By Sir Ayup 31 August 2026, 02:00 WIB
The Clash of Clans August Update expands Town Hall 18 progression with Diggy Levels 11–15 and new Supercharge levels for the Builder’s Hut and Monolith, while also adjusting high-tier Clan War League modifiers, strengthening Ruin Witch armies, retiring the Starter Pass, and adding several practical quality-of-life improvements. Supercell revealed the update on August 30, 2026, although the release-note page does not specify an exact maintenance or rollout time.
This is not another full Town Hall expansion. Instead, the August update fills several progression gaps and cleans up systems players already use every day.
For TH18 players, the main questions are where the new upgrades fit into an existing queue. For competitive clans, the Titan CWL modifier changes deserve attention. And for almost everyone else, improvements such as using Wall Rings without a free Builder and targeting a fallen Hero directly with the Revive Spell may be the changes that are felt most often.
What is new in the Clash of Clans August Update?
The confirmed August update includes:
-
Diggy Levels 11–15 at Town Hall 18
-
new Supercharge levels for the Builder’s Hut
-
new Supercharge levels for the Monolith
-
adjusted Clan War League modifiers in Titan I–III
-
buffs to the Ruin Witch and Ruin Knight
-
retirement of the Starter Pass
-
Season Challenges starting from Town Hall 3
-
Gold Pass availability from Town Hall 3
-
Town Hall-scaled Season and Gold Pass rewards
-
a redesigned Home Village end-of-battle screen
-
Wall Ring and Revive Spell quality-of-life improvements
-
Hero Journey improvements
-
several bug fixes
The update therefore touches endgame progression, competitive play, army balance, early-account progression, and everyday interface friction at the same time.
Diggy can now reach Level 15 at Town Hall 18
The only Pet receiving new levels in this update is Diggy, which can now be upgraded from Level 10 through Levels 11–15 at Town Hall 18.
Diggy’s core value comes from its ability to support a Hero by interfering with defenses rather than simply adding more raw damage. That has historically made it more dependent on army composition and Hero pairing than universally useful Pets.
The five additional levels are therefore meaningful, but they should not automatically be interpreted as proof that Diggy is now the best TH18 Pet.
The more useful question is whether you already have an army where Diggy performs a specific job consistently.
Consider prioritizing Diggy if:
-
Diggy already appears in your main war army
-
its defensive disruption is important to your attack plan
-
your higher-priority Pets are already finished
-
you regularly use the Hero paired with Diggy
Consider delaying Diggy if:
-
it is mostly sitting unused
-
another Pet is central to several of your main armies
-
Heroes, Laboratory upgrades, or defenses are consuming more important resources
-
you are upgrading it only because Levels 11–15 are new
GameMarket’s existing Clash of Clans Pet Tier List provides broader context for comparing Pet roles, but the August levels deserve live testing before they are used to rewrite every TH18 Pet priority.
Builder’s Hut and Monolith get new Supercharge levels
The second TH18 progression addition is a new set of Supercharge levels for the Builder’s Hut and Monolith.
This primarily matters to villages that are already deep into Town Hall 18.
Supercharges provide another place for late-game Builders and resources to go once core permanent upgrades are nearing completion. Adding the Builder’s Hut and Monolith extends that endgame progression without introducing an entirely new defensive building.
Which Supercharge should come first?
There is no good universal answer without considering the rest of the base.
The Monolith is an obvious candidate for players who prioritize high-impact defensive upgrades, especially if their main defensive core is already close to maximum progression.
The Builder’s Hut can also gain value across layouts where its repair and defensive presence regularly affects key compartments.
However, being newly Superchargeable does not automatically make either upgrade more important than unfinished permanent defenses.
A practical order is:
-
finish critical permanent TH18 upgrades
-
keep Heroes and Laboratory progression moving where needed
-
then use Supercharges to strengthen already-developed sections of the base
Players who are still moving through the wider TH18 progression introduced with the original Town Hall 18 update should generally avoid interrupting major permanent upgrades simply to start the newest Supercharge.
Clan War League modifiers are changing in Titan
The August update also changes how Clan War League Battle Modifiers map across the upper Titan leagues.
The confirmed changes are:
-
Titan I: Legend I modifier → Legend II
-
Titan II: Legend II modifier → Legend III
-
Titan III: Legend II modifier → Legend III
Supercell says the intention is for the modifiers in the upper leagues to increase more naturally as clans progress through the ladder.
Legend league modifiers themselves are unchanged.
That distinction is important.
This is not a complete CWL rules overhaul, and it does not mean every Clan War League division is receiving new modifiers.
The change is concentrated in the Titan tiers.
What the Titan CWL changes mean for clans
For clans operating around Titan, the biggest consequence is that preparation should be based on the new modifier tier, not only on the league name displayed before the war.
Titan I now steps up from Legend I to Legend II rules, while Titan II and Titan III move from Legend II to Legend III.
That can affect how closely a clan’s normal war habits transfer into CWL.
Rather than assuming the same approach used in the previous season will remain optimal, competitive clans should review the modifier details shown in-game once the update is active.
Legend-level clans do not need to adjust simply because of this announcement, since their modifiers are staying where they are.
Ruin Witch and Ruin Knight receive direct buffs
The August update also strengthens the Ruin Witch and Ruin Knight.
Two changes are confirmed:
-
Ruin Knights no longer lose health over time.
-
Ruin Witch can now summon up to 10 Ruin Knights, increased from 8.
These are straightforward buffs to the army’s ability to maintain summoned units on the battlefield.
Previously, a Ruin Knight’s natural health decay placed a limit on how long its value could persist even when enemy defenses were not immediately removing it.
Removing that decay means surviving Knights can remain relevant for longer.
At the same time, increasing the maximum number of active Ruin Knights from eight to ten raises the potential amount of summoned pressure available during a successful Ruin Witch attack.
Does this make Ruin Witch meta?
It is too early to make that conclusion from the patch notes alone.
The changes clearly improve the army.
They do not automatically answer how it compares with every established TH18 strategy after players adjust layouts, spell choices, Hero Equipment, and supporting troops.
The safer conclusion is:
Ruin Witch armies should have stronger sustained battlefield presence after the August update.
Players already using the army have a clear reason to test it again.
Players who abandoned it because Ruin Knights disappeared too quickly also have a specific weakness worth re-evaluating.
GameMarket’s June 2026 patch coverage explains the original Ruin Witch release and provides useful background for understanding why the removal of health decay matters.
Starter Pass is being retired
One of the biggest structural changes affects new accounts rather than maxed villages.
Supercell is retiring the Starter Pass.
Players who are already progressing through a Starter Pass can still complete their current progression, but the system is being replaced by broader access to the regular seasonal structure.
Going forward:
-
Season Challenges begin at Town Hall 3
-
Gold Pass can be purchased from Town Hall 3
-
Season and Gold Pass rewards scale according to Town Hall level
This reduces the separation between early-game progression and the seasonal systems used by established accounts.
Instead of learning one temporary Starter Pass structure and later moving into Season Challenges, new Chiefs enter the main seasonal progression much earlier.
Why Town Hall-scaled rewards matter
Opening the Gold Pass at TH3 only works if rewards remain appropriate for early accounts.
That is why the Town Hall scaling is important.
A low-level village does not have the same resource requirements as a TH18 account, and simply handing both villages an identical progression track could distort early progression.
The new structure allows Supercell to expose new players to the normal seasonal system while adjusting rewards around their current stage.
For returning players starting fresh villages or maintaining multiple accounts, this also makes early progression more consistent with the systems used on their main account.
The end-of-battle screen has been redesigned
All Home Village battles are getting a refreshed end-of-battle screen.
The new screen includes:
-
a redesigned layout
-
a new victory banner
-
clearer loot information
-
clearer bonus-reward information
This does not affect attack strength or progression rates.
Its value is clarity.
Loot systems have accumulated multiple bonuses over time, so separating what came directly from the attack from what came from additional reward sources should make post-battle results easier to read.
Wall Rings no longer require a free Builder
One of the best small changes in the patch is easy to overlook:
Using Wall Rings no longer requires an available Builder.
That removes an unnecessary restriction from wall progression.
Players often keep every Builder occupied, especially during active farming periods. Previously, that could make a Magic Item intended specifically for Walls inconvenient to use until a Builder became free.
After the change, Builder scheduling and Wall Ring usage are separated.
It will not reduce upgrade costs.
It will make it easier to use the resource at the moment you actually want to spend it.
Revive Spell can target a fallen Hero icon
The Revive Spell also receives a practical control improvement.
Players can now select the spell and tap the glowing icon of a fallen Hero to deploy the revive directly at the location where that Hero went down.
This matters most during crowded attacks.
Finding the exact position of a defeated Hero underneath:
-
troops
-
summoned units
-
spell effects
-
defenses
-
destruction effects
can be harder than the spell mechanic itself.
Using the Hero icon removes much of that visual searching.
It does not make the Revive Spell numerically stronger, but it makes correct deployment easier.
Hero Journey gets alternative Equipment tasks
Hero Journey challenges are also becoming more flexible.
If a Hero Journey task normally requires a specific Epic Equipment that the player does not own, the system can now offer an alternative task using that same Hero’s default Common Equipment.
That avoids a progression problem where completing a journey objective could depend on ownership of an optional Epic item.
For newer or returning accounts in particular, this makes Hero Journey progression less dependent on equipment collection history.
Fast Forward can now be completely disabled
Players who do not want to use battle acceleration can now disable the Fast Forward button entirely through Advanced Settings.
This is mainly an interface preference.
It does not remove Fast Forward from the game for players who use it.
It simply gives players another way to control what appears during battle.
Capital Treasury contributions are smoother
Contributing Capital Gold to the Capital Treasury no longer closes the contribution window after each action.
The window remains open and updates the clan’s total contribution in real time.
Again, this is not a balance change.
But it removes repeated menu interaction from something players may do regularly.
The August patch has several improvements like this: individually small, but useful because they remove friction from common actions.
Check Hero Journey if you were missing rewards
There is one bug fix with an immediate action attached to it.
Supercell fixed an issue where certain Hero Journey nodes did not unlock correctly.
Players affected by the issue can now open the Hero Journey menu in the Hero Hall and claim the rewards they previously missed.
There is an important deadline:
affected rewards are available to claim for seven days.
Hero Skins are excluded from that expiration and will remain claimable.
If your Hero Journey previously looked incomplete or a node failed to unlock correctly, checking the menu after the update is worthwhile even if you are not focused on any of the new TH18 content.
Other August bug fixes
The patch also addresses several gameplay and interface problems, including issues involving:
-
Totem Spell deployment capacity
-
Anarchy Spell availability in Clan Castle requests
-
Hot Candle timing
-
recalled troops becoming stuck around Walls
-
Meteor Golem interactions
-
Dragon Duke’s Rocket Backpack behavior
-
visual Hero Journey task bars
Most of these fixes are better treated as maintenance rather than reasons to change an army immediately.
The Hero Journey reward recovery is the main one with a short-term player action attached.
What should TH18 players prioritize first?
The August update creates more things to upgrade, but it does not invalidate normal progression priorities.
If you are already near-max TH18
The new Builder’s Hut and Monolith Supercharges are natural places to continue defensive progression.
Diggy Levels 11–15 are also reasonable if Diggy is already part of a main army.
If your TH18 is still developing
Permanent upgrades generally remain more important than rushing toward newly added Supercharges.
Likewise, do not divert large amounts of Dark Elixir into Diggy solely because Level 15 is now available if your more frequently used Pets or Heroes still need work.
If CWL is your priority
Review the new Titan modifier mapping before the next relevant war period.
The change is more important to competitive preparation than Diggy levels if your account is already strong enough to participate consistently at that level.
The right priority therefore depends on whether your current bottleneck is:
offense, defense, Pet progression, or competitive preparation.
What this update does not add
It is also useful to separate this patch from a major expansion.
The August Update does not introduce:
-
a new Town Hall
-
a new Hero
-
a new Pet
-
a completely new CWL system
-
new Legend CWL modifiers
Town Hall 18 remains the endgame.
This patch extends and adjusts the systems already surrounding it.
For players who need the wider TH18 context, GameMarket’s original TH18 guide covers the Guardian system and the larger progression changes that arrived with Town Hall 18.
The most important August Update changes
For maxed and near-max TH18 players, the biggest additions are:
-
Diggy Levels 11–15
-
Builder’s Hut Supercharges
-
Monolith Supercharges
For competitive clans, the Titan CWL modifier adjustments deserve the most attention.
For Ruin Witch players, no health decay on Ruin Knights and a 10-unit summon limit are direct army buffs.
For new accounts, retiring Starter Pass in favor of TH3 Season Challenges and Town Hall-scaled rewards changes how early progression is structured.
And for the broader playerbase, the smaller QoL changes may be what gets noticed every day:
-
Wall Rings without an idle Builder
-
direct Revive Spell Hero targeting
-
flexible Hero Journey tasks
-
cleaner battle results
-
smoother Capital Gold contributions
That makes the August Update less about one headline feature and more about improving several different stages of Clash of Clans progression at once.
