How to Unlock and Score High in Endfield Contingency Contract

Contingency Contract is the seasonal challenge mode in Arknights: Endfield where you choose your own difficulty, and the new Indigo Experimental Operation season is now live. You pick a set of Test Criteria that make the stage harder, clear it, and earn a season currency you can spend on rewards that include 2,000 Oroberyl. When Is Contingency Contract: Indigo?

According to the official Sanctuary of Ink update notes:

• Challenge opens: November 5, 2026, 12:00 (server time)
• New content added: November 12, 2026, 12:00 (server time)
• Challenge ends: before the next version update and maintenance
• Secret Sanctuary shop: November 5, 2026, 12:00 to December 2, 2026, 04:00 (server time)

Server time differs by region. On the Asia server (UTC+8), the challenge opens at 12:00 local server time. On the Americas and Europe server (UTC-5), it opens about 13 hours later.

The shop stays open after the challenge closes, so you will still have time to spend your currency once the last stages are gone.

How to Unlock Contingency Contract

You need to:

• Reach Authority Level 30
• Complete the main mission "Chapter I Process II: Paving the Way"

How Contingency Contract Works

Each Contingency Contract stage asks you to defeat several waves of enemies within a time limit. Before you start, you choose which Test Criteria to turn on.

• Test Criteria are modifiers, also called risks or tags, that make the stage harder or change how it plays
• Each Test Criterion has a Risk Level from 1 to 3
• Some criteria have several difficulty steps, but only one step can be active at a time
• Criteria connected by a line cannot be selected together, since they usually scale the same effect
• Consumables and Tacticals are disabled in Contingency Contract stages

Your Total Test Criteria is the sum of the Risk Levels you selected, and it is locked in when you finish the run. Your best result is saved as your Sanctuary Rating.

Key Criteria and Locked Criteria

Some Test Criteria are marked in yellow with a key icon. These are Key Criteria:

• Selecting a Key Criterion unlocks Locked Criteria, which give you more ways to raise your score
• Key Criteria often come with strong buffs and debuffs at the same time, such as shorter Combo Skill cooldowns or more non-skill damage, paired with heavily reduced Battle Skill damage

Because of this, Key Criteria can decide which team you should bring. Read them before you build your squad, and favor Operators who benefit from the buffs rather than the ones hurt by the debuffs.

Rewards and the Secret Sanctuary

According to the official update notes, Indigo event missions reward:

• Portrait: Silverblade Medal
• Portrait Frame: Contingency Respondent
• Vitrified Indigo, the season currency

Spend Vitrified Indigo at the Secret Sanctuary for rewards including:

• Oroberyl ×2,000
• Advanced Progression Selection Crate II
• Sticker: Contingency Resolved

In the first season, the season currency did not carry over to the next one, so plan to spend all of your Vitrified Indigo before the shop closes on December 2.

How to Score Higher

• Clear low-risk runs first. In the first season, clearing a higher difficulty also granted first-clear rewards for the lower difficulties you skipped, but starting easy helps you learn the enemy waves
• Build around the Key Criteria. A team that benefits from the active buffs will clear high-risk runs far more easily than your usual strongest team
• Raise risk one criterion at a time. Adding several new criteria at once makes it hard to tell which one is causing a failed run
• Watch the timer. Every stage has a time limit, so criteria that make enemies tankier often hurt more than ones that make them hit harder
• Come back on November 12. New content arrives a week into the season, so save some time and resources for the second half
