From Provinces to Legionnaires: What’s New in Albion Online’s Realm Divided Update

⚔️ Realm Divided Is Live — Faction Warfare, Rebuilt
Albion Online has rolled out Realm Divided, a major update that completely restructures Faction Warfare on the Royal Continent. Instead of scattered, random skirmishes, the war is now focused into dynamic Provinces, with the front line constantly shifting as factions clash, capture, and counterattack.
Realm Divided turns Faction Warfare into a living campaign, where every outpost fight, chest contest, or fortress siege contributes to a larger territorial tug-of-war.
🗺️ Provinces, Supplies & Cut-Off Territories
Provinces: New War Theaters
The Royal Continent is now divided into 20 Provinces:
-
15 non-lethal Provinces
-
5 lethal Provinces
Each Province contains multiple regions and acts as its own war theater:
-
A Province becomes “in conflict” when an opposing faction attacks it from a neighboring Province.
-
In conflict Provinces, you’ll see:
-
Faction Camps and Faction Chests spawning
-
Outposts that can be captured by attackers or defenders
-
Fame, Silver, and loot bonuses for faction-flagged players fighting in owned or contested territory
-
Supplies: The Scoreboard of War
Each conflict has a Supplies score for attackers and defenders, generated by:
-
Controlling Outposts (Supplies increase over time)
-
Opening Faction Chests
-
Completing Faction Camps (only the first faction to clear a camp gets the Supplies)
At set times every day, the Supplies are tallied:
-
If attackers win:
-
The Province conflict ends and a Fortress Siege is triggered in that Province.
-
-
If defenders win:
-
The conflict ends and the defending faction launches a counterattack on a neighboring Province.
-
This creates a reactive front line: victories push deeper into enemy territory, while losses set up counteroffensives.
Cut-Off Provinces
A Province becomes cut-off if it’s no longer connected back to its Royal City through a chain of friendly Provinces. When a Province is cut off:
-
There are no Fame/Silver/loot bonuses for the controlling faction there.
-
No Faction Camps or Faction Chests appear.
-
No Supplies contest is active.
-
Fortresses can be attacked at any time if your faction controls every region in that Province and at least one adjacent non–cut-off Province.
In other words, you can strategically isolate enemy territory, stripping its bonuses and opening surprise siege windows.
🏰 Faction Fortresses & Sieges
At the heart of each Province is a Faction Fortress:
-
The faction that controls the Fortress controls the entire Province.
-
When attackers win the Supplies war, they gain the right to siege the Fortress.
Before a Fortress Siege begins:
-
Players not aligned with the defending faction are removed from the Fortress area.
-
Gates close, defenders and guards take position, and the zone turns into a large-scale showdown.
Winning a Fortress Siege doesn’t just flip a single point — it changes the map, shifts the front line, and influences which Provinces will be attacked next.
🚛 Faction Transports & Mount Rework
Faction Transports: Straight to the Frontline
To cut down on long, dull rides to the frontline, Realm Divided adds Faction Transports:
-
Located in each Royal City near the Faction Leader, and in Yellow-Zone Faction Fortresses.
-
Usable while you’re faction-flagged to:
-
Warp directly into a conflict Province,
-
Join an open faction party already fighting there,
-
Or return quickly to your faction city.
-
Using a Faction Transport costs Silver, based on distance and your carried gear, but it massively increases your time spent actually fighting, not traveling.
Faction Warfare Mounts: New Passive Abilities
Faction Warfare mounts receive a thematic rework:
-
All T5 Saddled and T8 Elite faction mounts now feature unique passive abilities tailored to faction combat.
-
Example: the Winter Lord mount builds up stacks when taking damage, then releases a buff that grants temporary crowd-control immunity when the stacks max out.
Mount skills have been adjusted to feel more impactful in actual fights, and some overperforming abilities (like the famous Fearless Rush) have been slightly toned down for environment balance.
🎖️ New Faction Rewards & Legionnaire Vanity Set
To go with the new war system, Realm Divided adds fresh faction cosmetics:
-
A new Faction Legionnaire vanity set with armor styling that changes with your current faction.
-
New avatars and avatar rings that clearly display your faction colors and rank.
These rewards are purchased with Faction Points once you reach the required standing, making them long-term goals for dedicated faction fighters.
🧭 New Player Experience & UI Improvements
Realm Divided also smooths out the early-game and overall usability:
-
A new post-tutorial cinematic takes your character from the tutorial to the Royal Continent, showcasing the broader world and teasing your future in Albion.
-
During the tutorial, you can now sell almost all items (except certain basics like soup and mule mounts) at the Marketplace in the Cove, making early inventory management less painful.
-
Additional tutorial hints help new players understand core systems earlier.
Map and UI quality-of-life updates include:
-
In the Marketplace Sell tab, damaged items now show their estimated sell value after repairs, so you know what you’ll realistically get.
-
You can now click exit icons on a region map to instantly bring up the neighboring region’s map.
-
Double-clicking on the regional map drops a ping, with keybinds for:
-
Ctrl + click: Attack ping
-
Shift + click: Defend ping
-
-
New accounts get clearer minimap defaults and visible ping buttons with explanatory tooltips.
These changes help both new and veteran players navigate, plan, and communicate more efficiently.
🧪 Faction Warfare QoL & Combat Adjustments
Realm Divided is also packed with supporting tweaks:
-
A new “Faction Conquest” mission category is added to the Journal, and Faction Warfare missions have been reorganized for clarity.
-
Faction Points → Standing ratios have been adjusted so that higher ranks stay prestigious even with new sources of points.
-
Knockdowns in faction combat now cause less durability damage, easing repair costs and encouraging more risk-taking while flagged.
-
Faction-flagged players defeated in faction battles now respawn at Outposts or region entrances controlled by their faction.
-
Nameplates, colors, and UI readability for faction players are improved in conflicts and sieges, and region queues aim to balance slots between opposing factions during big fights.
On top of the Faction Warfare overhaul, the update includes widespread weapon, armor, and mount balance changes, making builds more interactive and pushing the meta toward diverse, counterplay-rich compositions.
💡 What Realm Divided Means for Albion Players
Realm Divided changes how you:
-
Find battles: Provinces and conflict indicators turn the map into a clear war board.
-
Impact the world: Every outpost capture, chest contest, and siege now pushes or pulls the front line.
-
Get into action quickly: Faction Transports reduce travel time and keep you in the fight.
-
Express your loyalty: Legionnaire sets, new avatars, and revamped mounts give your character a strong visual identity tied to your chosen faction.
Whether you’re leading ZvZ pushes, roaming with a small group, or just starting your journey on the Royal Continent, the game now does a far better job of turning Faction Warfare into a meaningful, ongoing campaign you can actually feel on the map.
