War Thunder Reveals H145M: Germany's Rank VII Helicopter
By Michael Pras 14 September 2026, 14:00 WIB
War Thunder has revealed the H145M, a light multi-role helicopter joining the German tree at Rank VII. Announced through the game's official devblog under the tagline "Angry Dragonfly," it's built around the SPIKE-ER anti-tank missile and a new small guided munition, the FZ275 — a loadout aimed squarely at hit-and-run play rather than slugging it out with heavier gunships.
At a Glance
- Lightweight and maneuverable
- Up to 8 SPIKE-ER anti-tank missiles
- FZ275 small guided missiles
- MAWS with LWR
- Large number of countermeasures
- No air-to-air missiles
Using It in Battle
Gaijin's own framing for the H145M is a helicopter for pilots who want to play hit-and-run rather than trade shots head-on: it pops up where it's least expected, fires, and disappears before the enemy team registers what happened. Its compact size and maneuverability are the whole point — it carries SPIKE missiles for tanks and helicopters, FZ275 laser-guided rockets for soft ground targets and helicopters, plus machine gun, cannon, and rocket pod mounts for more conventional ground-attack runs. Pilots get a radar warning receiver and a high-zoom thermal imaging sight to spot targets before getting spotted themselves, and 120 countermeasure charges to survive the return fire. The trade-off is real, though: no air-to-air missiles and no integrated forward-firing weapons, so it isn't built to fight other helicopters head-on if the ambush doesn't land clean.
Feature Spotlight: Guided Missiles
The H145M's identity is its missile loadout. Against armor, it uses the fire-and-forget SPIKE-ER — already a known quantity for both helicopter pilots and tank crews on the receiving end. The newer addition is the FZ275, a small laser-guided missile similar in concept to the one recently announced on the AW159 Wildcat. The H145M carries these in pods of 12, for 24 total, and despite their small size they pack a shaped-charge warhead, solid flight time, and a launch range up to 8 km. They aren't a threat to MBTs, but against light vehicles — anti-aircraft platforms and other helicopters especially — they're a genuinely efficient way to pick off multiple soft targets in a single pass.
Developer Comment: The Anti-Tiger
Per the devblog, the H145M lands at Rank VII of the German helicopter tree as a lighter alternative to the more heavily armed Tiger. Gaijin's pitch is built around its power-to-weight ratio: strong engines on a comparatively low airframe weight make it unusually responsive to control, and that agility is what's meant to let it shine. The FZ275 loadout makes it particularly well-suited to picking off several soft targets in quick succession late in a match, when isolated stragglers are common. As a tank hunter, the SPIKE-ER's fire-and-forget guidance means the H145M doesn't need to hold a lock — pilots can loose a missile mid-maneuver or from a brief peek around cover and let it track in on its own.
As with any devblog reveal, treat the loadout and figures above as a strong preview rather than a locked spec sheet — Gaijin has adjusted vehicle stats between announcement and release before, and the H145M doesn't yet have a confirmed release date.
