PGR Anchored in Faith: Free Adelyde and the New Overlinker Class
By Rivan Wi 5 September 2026, 02:00 WIB
Kuro Games has announced Anchored in Faith, launching 24 September, and it brings two things Punishing: Gray Raven rarely does at once — a brand-new frame class and a free S-Rank frame to demonstrate it.
Adelyde: Anabasis is the first Overlinker, and Commandants can obtain her for free through the Journal of Promise for a limited time after the update.
Here's what's confirmed.
The short version
- Version [Anchored in Faith] launches 24 September.
- Adelyde: Anabasis — Dark element, Overlinker frame type, Cross Cannon weapon, Ultima Slash effect.
- She's free for a limited time through [Journal of Promise].
- Also free via the [Service Shop]: Inver-Shard – Anabasis x50, the 6★ weapon [Unforsaken Beacon], and the exclusive CUB [Kelpie].
- Overlinker is a new frame class built around switch-ins.
- Her full skill kit hasn't been published.
What an Overlinker does
This is the part worth understanding, because it's a new archetype rather than a new character.
When an Overlinker joins the team, any team member who switches in during combat gains a Buff.
When certain conditions are met, all members enter a special state when Matrix is triggered, gaining additional Buffs.
The design is smarter than it reads. Punishing: Gray Raven's combat already revolves around switching — you rotate frames to chain QTEs, extend combos and keep three-ping sequences running. Switching isn't an occasional decision; it's the loop.
An Overlinker doesn't add a system beside that loop. It pays you for the thing you were already doing. Every rotation you've been performing for QTE chains now also generates buffs, which means the class rewards good existing play rather than asking you to learn a new pattern.
The Matrix condition adds a second layer on top — a team-wide state triggered during Matrix, PGR's slow-motion dodge window. Since Matrix is the game's central defensive mechanic, tying a team buff to it links offence and defence in a way the roster hasn't done before.
What's not published: what the switch-in buff actually grants, what the conditions for the Matrix state are, or how long either lasts.
Adelyde comes free, with everything she needs
The generosity here is broader than a free unit.
[Adelyde: Anabasis] x1 is obtainable free for a limited time through [Journal of Promise] after the version update.
Additionally, through the [Service Shop], also free:
- [Inver-Shard – Anabasis] x50
- 6★ Weapon [Unforsaken Beacon]
- Exclusive CUB [Kelpie]
- Other rewards
That's a complete package rather than a bare frame. A free S-Rank without a weapon or CUB is a frame you can't actually field at strength; this includes both, plus shards toward resonance.
This follows a pattern. Helentine: Lacrimosa was also given away for a limited time when she released on 17 July. Kuro Games appears to be running free S-Rank distributions alongside its paid banners, which is worth factoring into how you budget Black Cards — not every headline frame this year has required pulling.
The limited-time wording matters. Nothing published says how long the window runs, and "free for a limited time" means the offer expires rather than the frame leaving the game. Claim early rather than assuming it sits there all version.
Adelyde herself
Element: Dark. Weapon: Cross Cannon. Effect: Ultima Slash.
Her introduction identifies her as the F.O.S. Field Training Instructor, and her first line is characteristically blunt — she'd rather skip pleasantries and see the mission briefing.
Her full skill kit hasn't been released. Element, weapon and class narrow her role considerably, but they don't tell you her damage profile, her rotation, or how the Overlinker buffs are actually triggered in practice. Any tier placement published before the version goes live is working from a class description.
Where this sits in the roadmap
Anchored in Faith completes a sequence Kuro Games laid out months ago.
The sixth anniversary livestream named four upcoming Constructs: Karenina, Adelyde, Helentine and Leia. Helentine: Lacrimosa arrived 17 July, Karenina: Effulgence on 19 August, and Adelyde: Anabasis is the third. That leaves Leia as the remaining name from that list.
The timing is clean. Steering By Light closes 23 September at 23:00 UTC on EN servers and 24 September on CN, TW, JP and KR. Anchored in Faith opens immediately after.
If you're still working through Steering By Light content — Rapid Pursuit, Karenina's banner, event stages — that's your deadline, and it's three weeks out.
What isn't announced
- Adelyde's full skill kit, rotation and damage numbers.
- The Journal of Promise requirements to claim her, and how long the window stays open.
- What the Overlinker switch-in buff grants, and the conditions for the Matrix team state.
- Whether the Date A Live V collaboration — announced in May with Kurumi Tokisaki as an S-Rank collab character — arrives with this version. It still has no date.
- Other content in Anchored in Faith: events, story chapters, banner structure.
What to do before 24 September
Finish Steering By Light. Event content closes with the version, and EN players lose it a day earlier than Asian servers.
Don't spend Black Cards assuming you need to pull Adelyde. She's free. Whatever banner runs alongside her, it isn't for her.
Bank shards and materials. A free frame still needs levelling, and arriving with a free S-Rank you can't invest in wastes the giveaway.
Claim her early in the version. "Limited time" is doing real work in that announcement, and no duration has been published.
Wait for the kit before rebuilding teams. An Overlinker changes how a squad is assembled — but not until anyone knows what its buffs actually do.
Getting the roster ready
A free S-Rank frame still lands on whatever account you bring to it, and memory sets, weapon resonance and CUB investment are the slow half of Punishing: Gray Raven — the part a giveaway doesn't cover.
