Mobile Legends Season 42 Guide: Fragment Shop Reset and What Disappears First

The Fragment Shop rotation is being reported as the headline, but the part with an actual deadline is what leaves it. Five Rare skins and fourteen heroes exit when the shop swaps over, and the Fragment Shop rotates roughly once every three months — so anything you don't buy before the changeover is gone for a quarter at minimum, and often far longer.

There's a second deadline most coverage skips entirely. Unclaimed Season 41 rewards — Battle Points, fragments, tickets and Journey items — vanish when the season ends. There is no recovery mail and no support ticket that brings them back.

Two dates, not one

The season flips first, the shop rotates after. The in-client ranked countdown points to 16 September 2026, 08:00 UTC — 16:00 PHT, 15:00 WIB — for the Season 41 to Season 42 transition. The Fragment Shop update is scheduled for 17 September.

Trust the client, not the calendar. Moonton posts the exact maintenance window a few days out, and recent season transitions have taken roughly one to three hours. Open Ranked and read the timer inside the game rather than planning around any published date, including this one.

What leaves the Rare Skin Shop — the real deadline

Five skins rotate out:

• Atlas "Reactor Core"

If any of those are on your list, buy before the 17th. With a three-month rotation cycle, a skin leaving now is unavailable until at least mid-December, and the shop does not guarantee returns at all — some skins have sat out for far longer than a single cycle.

Spend down, don't hoard. Rare Skin Fragments have no use outside this shop. A balance you're saving for a future rotation is worth nothing if the skin you actually wanted is one of the five leaving.

The Hero Fragment list is the quiet value here. Fourteen heroes arriving is a wide rotation, and Hero Fragments are among the easiest currencies to accumulate passively. If you've been buying heroes with Battle Points, check the additions first — several are heroes you'd otherwise spend thousands of BP on.

But fourteen heroes are leaving too, and that side of the rotation carries the deadline. Dyrroth, Chou, Guinevere, Xavier and Belerick are all heroes with real meta relevance and regular ban-phase presence. If any of them are missing from your roster, this is the window.

One overlap worth noticing: Aulus arrives in the Premium Skin Shop and leaves the Hero Fragment Shop in the same rotation. If you want the hero through fragments, this is your last chance for at least a quarter — and the skin is useless without him.

Claim your Season 41 rewards before the timer hits zero

This is the most expensive mistake available this month, and it costs nothing to avoid.

Before the season ends, go through and claim everything still sitting unclaimed: Battle Points, fragment rewards, tickets, and any Journey items you've earned but not collected. When Season 42 begins, unclaimed items are gone permanently.

Do this first, before you think about the Fragment Shop. It takes a few minutes and it's the only part of this entire update where inaction has a guaranteed cost.

The rank reset

Every account above Elite takes a fixed drop. The reset is a tier table, not a per-account calculation, which means every account inside a band lands in the same place. Mythical Glory at 50 stars and Mythical Glory at 99 stars both land identically. Glory at 50 stars and Immortal at 200 stars both open Season 42 in Legend 5 with zero stars.

Your hidden matchmaking rating does not reset with your medal. Two accounts sitting in Legend 5 on day one can end up in very different lobbies, because MMR tracks the games you actually played. Expect early Season 42 matches to feel harder than your visible rank suggests.

Stars inside a band still matter for Road to Mythic cosmetics and your recorded peak, even though they don't change where you land.

The diamond offers

Three seasonal shop items are reported alongside the reset:

• Clint "Scarlet Musketeer" — launching 16 September at an initial 51 diamonds
• Vale — the Season 42 first recharge skin, at 100 diamonds
• Chang'e Elite — a 90% flash sale down to 60 diamonds, starting 25 September

Treat these as unconfirmed. As of late August, Moonton had not announced Season 42's hero, Journey skin or first-recharge offer, which means the Vale attribution in particular is community-sourced rather than official. The prices are plausible and consistent with past seasons, but confirm them in the client before topping up around them.

What to do before 16 September

1. Claim every unclaimed Season 41 reward. Free, fast, and permanently lost if you skip it.
2. Buy any of the five departing Rare skins you want. Three months minimum before another chance, with no guarantee of return.
3. Check both Hero Fragment lists, not just the arrivals. Fourteen heroes leave alongside the fourteen arriving, and the departures are the ones with a deadline.
4. Finish your ranked push now. Stars gained in the final days still count toward your peak and Road to Mythic rewards, and they cost far less effort than reclaiming the same ground after a reset.
5. Don't top up for the seasonal skins yet. The first-recharge offer isn't officially confirmed, and first-recharge rewards only pay out once.

What isn't confirmed

The exact maintenance window, whether the Fragment Shop rotation lands on the 17th or slips with the patch, and all three seasonal shop offers including the Vale first-recharge attribution. The rotation lists themselves come from community datamining ahead of the official patch notes.

Season 42 starts with a clean slate

A rank reset erases visible progress but not the hours behind it, and the Fragment Shop closes on skins that never come back on a predictable schedule.
