Revamped Kaja went live on 5 August at 16:00 (GMT+8), and the hero who arrived is not the one people spent years learning. The single-target suppression that defined him — fly in, lasso one carry, drag them away from their team — is gone. In its place sits a flying roamer with area crowd control, capable of locking several enemies at once and pulling them into his team's damage. The tagline Moonton attached to him, "Soar Anywhere, Lasso Anyone," is unusually literal. Here's how the new kit works, how to play him properly, and — the part most players actually need this week — how to fight against him.

The new kit at a glance

  • Passive — his skills apply Paralysis, which slows enemies and reduces their damage output. Note the change: this now comes from skills, not from the old timed enhanced basic attack.
  • Skill 1 — a ring of lightning that expands outward and then returns to him. Both passes deal magic damage and apply Paralysis, and he heals based on how many enemies he hits, with reduced healing on repeated hits. This is his sustain engine.
  • Skill 2 (Soaring Wings) — he enters a Soaring state, ignoring terrain and obstacles entirely while gaining movement speed. His basic attacks become circular area damage and can be used while moving.
  • Ultimate — area crowd control that can lock multiple enemy heroes at once rather than a single target.

Values may still shift, so check his skill descriptions in-game before committing to a build — the revamp went through repeated tuning on the Advance Server, which usually signals a hero the developers weren't sure about.

What actually changed about him

The old Kaja was a specialist assassin of a support: one perfect ult on the enemy marksman decided a fight, and a missed one wasted thirty seconds. He was a coin flip with wings.

The new Kaja is a team-fight controller. Locking three enemies for a shorter time is worth more than removing one for longer, provided your team can convert it. And because Skill 1 heals off multiple targets, he can now stay in a fight rather than committing once and leaving.

The terrain-ignoring flight changes his map presence just as much. Walls no longer define the angles he can approach from, which makes his rotations harder to predict and his ganks harder to see coming.

How to play him

Use flight for angles, not for entries. Soaring lets you approach from directions the enemy isn't watching — over walls, across jungle terrain, from the blind side of an objective. The mistake new Kaja players make is flying straight down the lane at a full-health enemy team.

Don't ult on the approach. The ultimate's value is proportional to how many enemies it catches and how quickly your team converts. Land in a position where your damage dealers are already in range, then lock. An ult landed before your team arrives is a free reset for the enemy.

Skill 1 is for sustain, not poke. Its healing scales with enemies hit, so using it in a crowded fight keeps you alive far longer than using it to chip a single laner. Save it for the fight rather than throwing it in the lane.

Pair with area damage. He is at his best alongside allies who can convert a group lock into a wipe — high-burst AoE mages and area-damage heroes. Locking three enemies for a team with only single-target damage wastes most of what you did.

Build direction

Rather than a fixed item list — MLBB's items shift with patches, and the in-game recommended build updates with them — the logic to follow:

  • Match your defensive items to the enemy's damage type, not to a template. A magic-heavy enemy team and a physical-heavy one call for different second and third items.
  • Cooldown reduction is worth more than damage. His value is in how often the ult and Skill 1 are available, not in how hard they hit.
  • Battle spell depends on your role in the team. Flicker extends your engage range and salvages misplaced flights; Flameshot helps push enemies into position or finish escapes.
  • Emblem should lean support and durability. You are a roamer creating windows, not a damage dealer.

Check the current recommended build in-game before locking anything in — that's the only source that reflects the live patch.

How to counter him

This is the part worth reading twice, because he'll be everywhere for the next fortnight.

Don't clump when his ultimate is up. His whole rework is built on catching multiple heroes. Standing in a tight group near an objective is exactly the shape he's looking for. Spacing costs you nothing and removes most of his value.

Watch the sky, not the bushes. Terrain-ignoring flight means the usual read — warding lane entrances and checking bushes — misses him entirely. He can arrive from directions nothing normally comes from, so scanning wider matters more than ward placement.

Punish him when Soaring ends. He is a support with a support's health pool. When the flight expires and he's inside your team, he's a target, not a threat. Assassins and burst mages should treat a landed Kaja as a free kill rather than a problem to escape.

Save your mobility for his lock, not for his approach. Burning a dash when you see him flying in leaves you standing still when the ult lands. Immunity and repositioning effects held until the moment of the cast are worth far more than a panic dash a second early.

Deny him the extended fight. His Skill 1 healing scales with the number of enemies it hits, which means a drawn-out clustered brawl feeds him. Forcing short, spread-out engagements starves the sustain that lets him stay in.

For how to handle a hero whose archetype shifts underneath you at draft, our draft and counter-pick guide covers adjusting picks when a familiar hero starts doing something unfamiliar. Our earlier Kaja revamp breakdown covers what changed and why.

Expect adjustments

The revamp was tuned up and then down repeatedly on the Advance Server before release — the pattern Moonton uses when a rework's power level is genuinely uncertain rather than roughly right.

Translation: whatever the numbers look like this week, expect a balance pass. Learn the hero's decision-making rather than optimising around current values, because the decisions survive a patch and the numbers won't. Our Season 41 jungle guide covers the wider meta he's landing into.

Climb while the meta resets

Revamp weeks are the most winnable stretch of any patch — nobody has the matchup figured out yet, and the players who adapt first bank the rank before it settles.
